This is a great preservation of historical information. You qualify to be the custodian of Lango culture, keeping archives and educating the present and future generation.
That Bus Park building I think belonged to Lira Town Council, but in the 1960s and 70s, it was used by all the Bus Services, which included The Northern Province Bus Company, Badrudin Brothers Bus Service, Rahemtulla Bus Service (and as far as I remember, it was Rahemtulla who owned and operated Caltex Petrol Station. I do remember the name Nazaralli, but I don't remember him operating that petrol station). Other bus services included Uganda Transport Company, Kelemente Elyak (father of the late Olet Elyak, proprietor of that magnificent Mall you are showing us), Loc Ken Bus Service, Republic Express etc. Owiny ki Bul, Rising Star, Beeline, Makomico etc, came much later in the 80s and 90s
i appreciate this, you must work with ogwen on many of these historical projects, including Lira coronation park that belonged to Mzee Murungu family since 1852, where they settled firsts when they moved from otuke and operated a bus service
This is incredible history of Lira City. I wish many more elders who saw the growth and development of Lira City from its earliest years could make comments, for example, where did the Europeans build their first "Boma ground" or stockade? Most of the buildings that are seen on Obote Avenue (Main Street) were actually built between 1930 and 1948, and the years of their construction are visible on them. Some of the most popular shops in the 1960s are still intact, for example Popular Traders and UPG (Uganda People's Groceries).
We don't need Obote to become great.... Obote is actually a show of our ability to be great....Lango is a Great I think the greatest of all Ugandan tribes.
This is incredible, big up to you bro
Appreciate that
