    Thanks for posting this. While practising your techniques I found that if I made any adjustments to a node before the magic mask node all the tracking on the mask would be lost and have to be done again. After a lot of thumping my keyboard, I found that if you change from object to person in the magic mask node the tracking would stay regardless of the work done on the nodes before.

    Another great video! Where you created the serial node after the mask, then inverted the mask with a key, could an Outside Node be used instead? Or, is your technique adding something that the Outside Node can’t accomplish? Loved your training class and the footage!

    Enjoyed it. Always nice to see how a clolourist approaches a scene like that. I almost never touch the gamma wheel myself... save that for a contrast and pivot node. Am I wrong? I was told by another colourist that his gamma controls collect dust.

    I really like this video. Respect for the work. Here you can see the competence behind it. The video dispenses with the "coolness", annoying background music and superfluous "I'm cool" gestures. The video gets to the point. I would still have an improvement: Why are e.g. gamma or shift used and not contrast etc. The reason for the effect, i.e. what do I want to achieve with the effect, why I use the effect (e.g. contrast, gam, lift, offset, etc.) would be very helpful. So what do I want to achieve or improve and what do I use in Davinci for this.

    that's great thanks. but do you need to then repeat this same arduous procedure for EVERY Clip in a montage? how much would you say you copy/paste these settings VS have to rebuild the grade for each shot? For example if the girl walks outside in the next shot, you have to repeat all this for another 2 second clip? always baffled me this part about colour grading... how to make it more efficient so it doesn't take 20 mins PER 2 seconds of footage 🫠 thanks for any insights!

  • @jarekm4744
    @jarekm4744 6 місяців тому

    why are you using v-gamut as the color space in your timeline? I would say it's too narrow for this footage and using DWG should be obvious choise IMO. why is that?

    • @colorgradinginsights
      @colorgradinginsights  6 місяців тому +2

      The timeline color space should be set to however the clip was shot. It was shot in v log so I set it to v log, how come it’s too narrow if it’s a native color space? That’s truth that DWG is a way wider color space but I usually use it when I have mixed clips on my timeline and each of them has got a different color space. I hope this makes sense.
