Been using Resolve Studio for over 2 years now & I wasn’t aware of the 3d qualifier & how much better it is! Thankyou so much for this, it’s really going to help my grading.🙏🤗👍
This is very interesting. The plain vanilla qualifier is pretty cool, but even with all the sliders and tweakers, it often seems a bit of a blunt instrument when trying to refine a selection. It is nice to have another tool in the toolbox. Thanks!
Hi, thank you for this new technique to use the qualifier. Do I need to use the qualifier on each clip if I want to qualify the skin? What if I have more than 30 clips? Is there a way to just use 1 node to qualify the skin to all the clips? Thank you.
Hey Kasia I’ve bought a mini panel but did not get a power cable in the box just a usb c cable to connect to my Mac Studio. Did you get a power cable with your panel or did you buy your own power cable and if so where did u buy it please. Kind Regards David
can I ask a question? Watched your first videos and your voice there is very different, did you train yourself somehow to speak so professional as of now? Some orators courses? I just need to sound like this for my job. Sorry it`s not Davinci related😊
Another great video! Is there a general rule for when to best use the 2D versus 3D qualifier? For example, in your course, I believe you always used the 2D qualifier. Is there any reason why the 3D qualifier wouldn’t always be best?
Hey! Basically, 2D qualifier is more “traditional” tool than 3D qualifier, as it’s been around for years. 3D qualifier is just an improved version of that. In color grading there’s always a few different ways of achieving the same result so ai cannot answer when to use what - it all depends on you and your preferences as a colorist.
The majority of people that watch all these color grading tutorials are shooting on 5k and less cameras so watching people work with 80k camera footage is annoying. Of course the camera with the best quality and dynamic range is going to be easier to grade, try cheaper cameras and show us how we can edit our own footage, not some stock stuff.
If you are using 8-bit footage, then yes, your results will not be this good. But you'll get these same effects with HD and 4K footage at 10-bit 4:2:2 which is standard for even any serious hobbyist videographer. This is a tool but making a nice image requires a lot of tools. Keep trying and keep learning.
90% of it all doesn’t have much to do with the files. The more information the better the end product for sure, but it’s marginal. I would just encourage you to use what you have and learn the real substance of color grading and not just specific tools or looks. It’s super rewarding when you can create instead of replicate. You got this!

Kasia which DJI camera was used on the first clip and how did you color manage it as the DJI input color space is not very good
I got the clip from Artgrid so no idea to be honest with you! I’ve just used a standard D-Log

I never used 2D Q last year. Combine 3D and Warper and you will get the best result.
