I just ran across your feed, outstanding for a beginner like myself, you're finger placement is spot on. Using your finger tips and not overly wrapping your thumb.
Thank you sir, I'm subscribed. 👍

It has less distortion on the chorus, but otherwise it sounds correct
Edit: He's doing a jangle thing which was, and should be because it sounds awesome, popular.

Man I’ll tell you what I saw one of your videos pop up in my feed and I was like oh shit that’s that guy that covered some of my favorite songs like 11 years ago!
I always dug this track man and that part at 3:29 is just 🤌🏻
If you ever run out of ideas, one of my favorite bands from back then was Faster Pussycat, they had some awesome licks and the house of pain solo is one of my favorites it just oozes emotion. You could play one of their songs.
You rock man, I’m from Pa too, Reading area. Sorry for the book but I just really enjoyed your videos over the years
Enuff Z’Nuff’s Fly High Michelle is another song that would fit your playing style perfectly haha.
Ohh never mind I saw you already did and I remember watching it now.

Haha, thanks for the awesome comment. Yeah, it's been a loooong time since I uploaded. Figured I would put a few new things out from time to time. I actually did a house of pain solo many years ago ua-cam.com/video/dofYhxVbbB4/v-deo.html maybe I'll redo it

I was 16 and had just started a life of freedom and exploration having finished secondary school and enrolled in my fist year of college when I heard this for the first time and it had a profound impact on me, albeit nearly 40 years later - I had forgotten this brilliant song and only recently heard it again for the first time in far too many years having on stumbling across this video ua-cam.com/video/9pv1UVA1M0Y/v-deo.html. In an instant the emotions, feelings and memories from that day and those long-lost times came back and it brought tears to my eyes. For those of us that were witness to the amazing music of the '80s, 'Til Tuesday and Aimee Mann will never be forgotten.

Great job man! Surprise that's all the effects to use because it sounded so rich when I heard it live. I'm like you I didn't really appreciate it too much and thought it was poppy until a few years ago. This guy had great tone. He sounded great with his arrangements. Thanks so much for putting this together.

I get your dog shit..... for some reason a lot of these artists just don't put their heart and soul into it anymore. and really, they should! because they made great music and the fans really appreciate seeing them perform it later in their lives....

It was released in 1985. You were just a little bit off. But you're right about it being a well-put-together song.

Good demonstration and tutorial, enjoyed it! Your playing sound pretty good. By the way, regarding your comment at 4:00 about Aimee Mann sounding like dogshit when playing it live, I would agree the original is better sounding. However, she originally played bass (listen to the bassline on the song; it ain't too bad) and she has said in interviews it's just way more convenient to play guitar when she is also singing the song. And from what I understand, Robert Holmes, the original 'Til Tuesday guitarist, is a pretty impressive guitar player and perhaps Aimee Mann can't play what he did while singing simultaneously. Regardless, I think there are adaptations that many musicians have to make when playing live vs. in the studio.

Perhaps you should have broke down each chord played rather than going straight through the whole thing 👍

This would be immensely more helpful if you would explain what sections/parts of the song you are demonstrating. Maybe speak the words to the song if you can't sing so people like me can tell where you are in the song?

I just play it with an E shaped part of a bar G and F. Chord finder calls it G7flat9 (G/D) and F7flat9 (F/C), then I bring it back to the G and drop my pinkie down on the C which is technically a type of A minor chord. That is the same way he plays it in all live versions. I do not touch the B string and he doesn't either. Palm mute the top E or use your thumb. But, it's just the major triad of G and F using the 5th, 4th, and 3rd strings in that E shape then just drop your pinkie. He flanges it sometimes live too
