Hey I just wanted to say thank you for these videos on an insight on the history of destiny. I started destiny 2 a little over a year ago and I’ve been playing ever since. I was never there to experience or witness these parts of destiny’s history and have only ever been told tales by my friends. As such thank you for not only filling in the gaps for me but entertaining me at the same time!

13:32 how dare you use a Cabal’s The Hunt soundtrack from the Leviathan Raid while showcasing Hive from a HIVE Raid?? The DISRESPECT!! Emperor Calus would not approve! Lol
The starting section with the lamps and hive is one of my favourite parts of the game ever. The end of the raid was massively frustrating to begin with, but ultimately hugely satisfying to beat. Looking back it was a better raid than I think it was received as at the time.
i remember the first week this raid came out vividly... its easily one of my favorite gaming memories, even if i didn't know it at the time. i remember how scary and hard the thrall maze was before anyone knew what was going on, but more than anything, i remember the crota fight struggles. no boss in any game has caused such frustration, but the satisfaction that came from succesfully learning how to use the sword and consistently being able to do it, knowing everyone was relying on you and watching... such a warm feeling
Amazing video, I remember the good old days when VOG came out, everyone was so confused on what to do on the Gorgon Labyrinth, that feeling of completion was just incredible!
5 days after this raid came out. My friends and I got carried through this raid by a 31. Took us 45 minutes total with wipes. After that me and a friend just cheesed it by ourselves every week. Bad raid but good times
Thanks for this Evan! Kinda made me realise one thing D2 is missing is that feeling when something rare dropping caused. Look at the shouts and woops when people got Black Hammer and so on. That feeling isn't in D2 for me.
Y'know if a legendary sniper like black hammer was in Destiny 2, people would've complained. It's why I kinda prefer the loot in D2. Alot of legendary weapons had actually good perks and sometimes nothing really broken.

@@matthunges7017 It's not so much about a Legendary sniper as such, it's about the chase and then the reaction the weapons in D1 caused when they drop. You don't get that in D2. Like Gally, I never had it drop EVER. I didn't get it until Xur sold it the second time. Weapons just drop left and right in D2 with no real challenge. They're just...there. There is no feeling of euphoria of getting something.
I laughed so hard when you just paused and went "Wait...is that a word?" and cut to you looking it up on Google. Also the zoom in on Crota's face with the aggressive "NANI?!" killed me.
Crota’s End was an awesome raid, it’s a close second to King’s Fall as my favorite. My only complaint is that it was a “heroes raid”, as many parts of it only needed one or two people to succeed, in order to move on. In the 50+ times I played it, I ran sword on Crota because no one else wanted to. It was more stressing than having Rocket Launcher duty at the window, but that moment you slay Crota is such a rush, you have to experience it. This game used to bring me so much joy, I miss these days with my clan. Thank you for this!
I just want to thank you for adding the word crotating to my vocabulary. Every trials game from here on out I am pulling out a sword and telling my team I am going to crotate
Thank you fore these videos. As someone who’s been part of the community since the beta of Destiny 1, with thousands of hours across both games, thank you. The memories these videos bring back are of late night raids, screaming trials victories, and just generally playing the game with people I enjoy.
Crota’s end is my favourite raid simply because of how good the armour looked. Since Vault of Glass is coming to D2, I hope Crota’s End and King’s Fall do too. I need my hive armour
Daniel Exarchos I would like to hear that argument because I remember Crota’s end having its own armour set having an exotic also I believe it needed 6 people if you do it the intended way
Necrocasm (Y3) was a favorite of mine, I always had that awesome blue ornament on it and loved watching everything explode. It even shredded in pvp if you can control it along with stupid levels of flinch. I remember running private matches with friends and not being allowed to see it. It was also just really fun to use
This vid brought back so many amazing memories. This was the first raid I full completed from start to finish. I also got Nechrochasm, my all time favorite primary. Amazing video, keep it up bro.
I had a smile on my face almost the whole video. Great memories with great friends. Thank you for making this, I'm sure it took forever to do, I appreciate that.
Ugh. D1 Shriekers were a mistake. As if the constant barrage wasn't bad enough, those little Soul Shards chased you into orbit if you tried to run away. Not even holding Y on Xbox could save me.
Dude thank you for making these videos. Not only does it give me nostalgia looking at old destiny and its raid content but your videos also catch me up on the 2-3 years i missed from Destiny 2.
Crota’s end is the only Raid I’ve ever finished, I’ve never been able to find a group to raid with for any other so seeing our actions had consequences when his Daddy came and shock the system up it felt impactful. Not enough to come back to Destiny but I appreciate what they were doing behind the scenes
The night Dark Below released, I had troubles downloading the DLC or something, and had to wait an extra day to start playing, and that was the day I found Twitch. This DLC isn't a favourite, but it's important, that's for sure.
I remember the first time we got to Crota. I was the sword bearer. When he dropped on his knee for the final time, this "Sword Music" playing in the background and me running towards him, giving him the final blow....man, my blood was pumping fast. The whole Team was screaming when the loot dropped. Good memories.
We did every one of these cheese when I used to play. Hell, Vault of Glass final boss could be cheese too. I remember having a friend in the raid and they kept trying to cheese him. Someone left and he asked me for help to do it. I joined threw the grenade and the boss fell of the map and I left. It all happened in less than a minute. It felt so good. Everyone was like “wtf was that” hahaha. But Destiny 2 scarred me. I purchased the $100 version. Those 2 expansions where pure crap. And then forsaken came out. There was no way in hell they were gonna sell me what was supposed to be done for the game already. So I never played Destiny again. Watching this brought back some cool memories. But that’s all it is for me now.
My first time beating Crota I actually solo’d the entire raid. I had three friends in the party talk me through it during the raid. Looking back I should’ve done it as a team first. More memories that way.
My all time favourite Raid. Going into the abyss for the first time was one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. This was during the time where destiny was THE game on Xbox, and all this end game stuff was something we haven’t experienced before on this console. That shitty Destiny Team Finder website, where there wasn’t any requirements, made for some fun memories. Joining a team that was stuck on crota for hours on end and helping them finish in just a few attempts was so rewarding. The armour, the boss fight, That Lord Of The Rings witch king of Angmar palace vibe was so unreal. Only raid I have over 100+ clears, Went flawless on and solo’d. Such a great time in gaming. But only bad thing I have to say is that necrocasm was the biggest let down ever. What a piece of shit lol
I only ever played the Vault of Glass Raid, and it was majestic honestly. So much mystery to it. And a great challenge, The teamwork aspect was top notch. Though honestly, group work in games is not my main idea of fun (getting groups of people together, on the same page, as you mentioned...can be a hassle). But it is great to see Destiny has so many hardcore players today doing these raids. I just want to learn about each raid after the Vault of Glass, so this video is a good watch. Thanks for making it.
D1 was my introduction to multiplayer gaming. I had only played campaigns offline and was very excited to play with other players. I quickly learned I had a lot to learn, I was out of my depth. I struggled with everything. Everyone played faster than I thought possible. I was lucky with my first clan, I met a player who went out of his way to help me, but I was a long way from doing raids. With the coming of D2 many in my clan left the game including my friend. In accessing another clan I felt I was back at the beginning, I followed other players never taking the lead. I never found a clan willing to help me. Many would offer to carry me but having done that once and having been berated for my slowness and incompetence I never did it again. Now we are approaching D3 or what would have been D3. I've still not done a Raid or any other content where a fireteam is necessary other than matchmaking (strikes). I find there is a huge gulf between what can be done solo or in matchmaking and the "pinnacle" activities, raids, NF's. I still feel as though I'm an outsider in this game and now don't bother with clans. If there are others out there who are in a similar situation I'd like know maybe we can work together. I'm close to quitting playing. Also the game is less and less suitable for the solo player. I can't even do a strike solo without some other player jumping in and speed running past me. I really like playing this game. I'm 71 yrs of age.
You try to find friends i make friends and by that i mean i grab some racoon meat from my trash and create 5 human sized piles of meat and do a raid its as easy as that!
God damn say what you want about D2, the soundtrack is the best I've ever heard. The track at 45:25 is so beautiful that it makes me tear up a bit when I hear it and I don't even know why.
I picked this game up and got gjallarhorn my first week playing. My first thought was "hey thats the rocket launcher from the commercial the titan uses to blow up a door, thats pretty cool". I had no idea the power I had been blessed with. Also I'd like to say that being the swordbearer was one of the most pressure filled, intense, and satisfying experiences in gaming I've ever experienced. I think what Destiny 1 nailed was its ability to bring random players together and work as a team. I really haven't had a multiplayer experience like D1 since. It was frustrating getting 6 people together and getting everyone working together but when you finally beat it it felt awesome. Everyone would friend request each other and be like "hit me up next week when you wanna do it again"
We had a similar event like the one at 47:55 during a Vault of Glass run. Atheon was one shot and we only had one guardian alive. As he was doing his team wipe mechanic and our screens started to fade to the death screen, our Warlock 180’d and blindly hip fired (so no tracking) a prayer Gjallarhorn shot. His screen was completely black at that point. The rocket hit him and killed him. Everyones black screen went away and they were all resurrected to get the chest. Myself and and another teammate both had cops knock on doors because of a noise complaint.
The Dark Below was the main reason I took a break from Destiny despite pre-ordering the game and playing since Day 1. It was the first time, Bungie absolutely disrespected the amount of time and love the player base had put into the game. The main deep cuts were the issue with faction ranks and the absolute slap in the face with how they handled exotics.
30:24 gotta disagree on that one cheif. Wrath hade so many bangers, granted, we got fatebringer and vex mythoclast. But on the other hand, WotM gives you Ex Machina, Chaos dogma, Outbreak Prime. Just saying.
I remember my first time in this raid, I accidentally jump in front of 3 people while they used rocket lunchers for Crota and killed them... I got kicked immediately 😂
I remember doing this raid, getting that bolt action iron sight sniper Exotic (No Man's Land?) and being scared shitless in the part with crushing darkness. Good times. 40:18 yep, I remember that
I started playing Destiny in the middle of Crota, my Clan carried me through it and my best drop was Gjallarhorn, everyone freaked out but I had no idea what the weapon was and why it was so good. It was the peak of my Destiny game for sure :)
I think looking back on Crotas End, I think it's safe to say bungie has never captured the balls to the wall constant action that Crota's end had in spades. While it was hit with a back lash from the community, this raid has never really been out done with having players constantly shooting and having a blast from start to finish. Such an under rated raid

13:32 how dare you use a Cabal’s The Hunt soundtrack from the Leviathan Raid while showcasing Hive from a HIVE Raid?? The DISRESPECT!! Emperor Calus would not approve! Lol
Bro i love that song
stfu
The Darkness loved Crota because he would always bring an amazing cheese dip to parties
made from the finest hive ji- uh milk
It was the cheesiest

This raud wasn't even controversial at the time, most people loved it but now people have forgotten how hard it was to get gear in early d1
These are the best theory videos ever! They are fun to watch, not like a “history” lesson. You are great!
Totally agree! You can tell the amount of effort that is put into each video and they are timed out perfectly so you are always wanting another one!
I agree
In what way is this theoretical, hes going through the history of a raid from d1.
Yeah, as a NL player it's amazing to learn everything from d1.
It's a documentary video
Amazing video, I remember the good old days when VOG came out, everyone was so confused on what to do on the Gorgon Labyrinth, that feeling of completion was just incredible!
i really wish people could experience the power you had when you had black hammer equipped back then
5 days after this raid came out.

Sadly, that's not a feeling that can be manufactured. However, 1k voices and Anarchy have definitely filled that spot for the community to this day.
@@megahop6858 sadly not really. I got 1k first try, and I didn't even want jt at all
"Crota crotated back to his platform"
I see what you did there.
Yeah, we were all saying it way back in year one lol
Dylan Binkley even in other games we said dps Crota and HE’S CROTATING!
I like your avatar. That’s my favorite album
I laughed so hard when you just paused and went "Wait...is that a word?" and cut to you looking it up on Google.
Also the zoom in on Crota's face with the aggressive "NANI?!" killed me.
One of my favorite strikes. The best part was how the music would kick up when the sword was picked up
Crota’s End was an awesome raid, it’s a close second to King’s Fall as my favorite.
"Crota was soooo easy if you unplugged your ethernet or took out the disc." So...if you cheated the game got easier? What a concept
Even without a cheese it’s was easier then most nightfalls
@@jessefyfe9249 how would you say something so controversial yet so brave?
@@jessefyfe9249 ah yes, should have tried doing it without anyone having the OP shit that was ghallahorn on its harder difficultys
Nightfalls were nothing with the icebreaker
@@matthewfurr7293 icebreaker.... haven't heard that name in years..
Thanks for continuing to make these. I really enjoy going back every time.
I think they'll both come in witch queen, with crota's being a dungeon
The most controversial *Strike* ever made
Lmao you mean patrol
lmao u mean half a minute session of tower nostalgia
Honestly I would argue that Crota’s End was the first dungeon in destiny
Daniel Exarchos I would like to hear that argument because I remember Crota’s end having its own armour set having an exotic also I believe it needed 6 people if you do it the intended way
@@liamlee7730 so you draw the line at dungeon and not strike or patrol?
Necrocasm (Y3) was a favorite of mine, I always had that awesome blue ornament on it and loved watching everything explode. It even shredded in pvp if you can control it along with stupid levels of flinch. I remember running private matches with friends and not being allowed to see it. It was also just really fun to use
"A new enemy to the game, Gatekeepers" And we battle that enemy to this very day
This vid brought back so many amazing memories. This was the first raid I full completed from start to finish. I also got Nechrochasm, my all time favorite primary. Amazing video, keep it up bro.
Mood kindred
The music when you pick up the sword gives me tingles! So much nostalgia in this video. Thank you 😊
i remember me and friends running this weekly and not taking anything seriously but that's why its so fun because it made some great memories
I had a smile on my face almost the whole video. Great memories with great friends. Thank you for making this, I'm sure it took forever to do, I appreciate that.
Cyclops:I am the hardest red bar in destiny history
D1 shrieker: Am I a joke to you???
Taken Phalanx from Caydes Stash mission would like to know your location.
Ugh. D1 Shriekers were a mistake. As if the constant barrage wasn't bad enough, those little Soul Shards chased you into orbit if you tried to run away. Not even holding Y on Xbox could save me.
Killing a shrieker is stupid easy.
Surviving a shrieker is nearly impossible.
@@naverilllang anyone can kill a shrieker ......... But surviving one that is a ability few know
Cyclops in garden: I'm about to end these guardians careers
Dude thank you for making these videos. Not only does it give me nostalgia looking at old destiny and its raid content but your videos also catch me up on the 2-3 years i missed from Destiny 2.
Crota’s end is the only Raid I’ve ever finished, I’ve never been able to find a group to raid with for any other so seeing our actions had consequences when his Daddy came and shock the system up it felt impactful. Not enough to come back to Destiny but I appreciate what they were doing behind the scenes
the best part of the raid was shooting rockets into the sky when you finished and getting fireworks
VoG is literally the only D1 raid I need to do and then I'll have done them all at least once
Lucky for you its coming back to d2
The night Dark Below released, I had troubles downloading the DLC or something, and had to wait an extra day to start playing, and that was the day I found Twitch. This DLC isn't a favourite, but it's important, that's for sure.
I remember the first time we got to Crota. I was the sword bearer. When he dropped on his knee for the final time, this "Sword Music" playing in the background and me running towards him, giving him the final blow....man, my blood was pumping fast. The whole Team was screaming when the loot dropped. Good memories.
I was one of those 2014 players the vault of glass was such an amazing raid and the ones I did it with it was fun
40:11 "then we got really lazy and pulled the ethernet cord out on crota"
-BADASS GAMING 2015
Literally love watching these more then playing D2 ahah
These really make me wanna play, till I start playing
Didn’t bungie talk about the whole making of the Croat raid ? It was dope how they talked about it.
I'm glad I just found this guy's channel because now I get to binge watch these dope videos about the raids.
Next joke plz
That’s the ultimate flex lol
Not my favorite but dang that first run in the darkness was intense and so memorable.
Hawkeye: i guide others to a treasure i cannot possess
I only ever played the Vault of Glass Raid, and it was majestic honestly. So much mystery to it. And a great challenge, The teamwork aspect was top notch. Though honestly, group work in games is not my main idea of fun (getting groups of people together, on the same page, as you mentioned...can be a hassle). But it is great to see Destiny has so many hardcore players today doing these raids. I just want to learn about each raid after the Vault of Glass, so this video is a good watch. Thanks for making it.
I miss Destiny. This stuff gets me so emotional because of the amount of time I've put in both games. Let's make Destiny Great Again
D2 isnt half bad I gave up after year1 of d2 and came back for beyond light and I'll admit it's not as memorable as d1 but it's pretty close
I can play with you send me an on PlayStation psn atman86 or Xbox deadpool09. Also send so know your account name is.
You try to find friends i make friends and by that i mean i grab some racoon meat from my trash and create 5 human sized piles of meat and do a raid its as easy as that!
What console do you play on?
God damn say what you want about D2, the soundtrack is the best I've ever heard. The track at 45:25 is so beautiful that it makes me tear up a bit when I hear it and I don't even know why.
I hate to be a stick in the mud but Eidolon Ally is pronounced "Eye-doh-lon Al-lie".
*indeed*
Dude I'm 35 now and your videos are nostalgic AF. Havnt played Destiny in years. But you're getting hype
Getting ME hype
listen son back in my days when we did this raid there ain't no swords, so field of view is only on 1st person
this is the strike i two-manned for the complete a strike without dying trophy.
Soloed it for the same reason still one of my proudest moments in d1 honestly
We had a similar event like the one at 47:55 during a Vault of Glass run. Atheon was one shot and we only had one guardian alive. As he was doing his team wipe mechanic and our screens started to fade to the death screen, our Warlock 180’d and blindly hip fired (so no tracking) a prayer Gjallarhorn shot. His screen was completely black at that point. The rocket hit him and killed him. Everyones black screen went away and they were all resurrected to get the chest. Myself and and another teammate both had cops knock on doors because of a noise complaint.
"Only a true weapon of the light can stop its wrath."
*Kills Crota with Sword Logic*
Naw Vog still has the best Raid loot ever
Agreed. Apart from Fatebringer the rest was overrated.
I remember my first time in this raid, I accidentally jump in front of 3 people while they used rocket lunchers for Crota and killed them... I got kicked immediately 😂
Nah the best Eris line came with Season of Arrivals: "GUARDIAN YOUR ASSISTANCE WOULD NOT BE UNWELCOME"
Can I just say that I love the little notches on the time bar, regardless though the entire vid was great. Keep up the good work
He said “Crota’ed”. I’m so glad that persisted.
Seeing old weapons like confluence, mythoclast and the like was nostalgic af.
The Black Hammer was my favorite drop from Crota. That sniper rifle was sick and it was legendary
Once TTK came out, I would solo this raid several times a week.
Ima be honest, ive literally never heard any controversy about this raid
It is the whole "strike" thing, and a couple of cheeses at the bridge
They used to say it was a glorified strike, boy they were wrong.
Same. But then again, I never really interacted with the Destiny community outside of just playing the game until this video.
I had an easier time soloing hard crota than nightfall strikes.
I think looking back on Crotas End, I think it's safe to say bungie has never captured the balls to the wall constant action that Crota's end had in spades. While it was hit with a back lash from the community, this raid has never really been out done with having players constantly shooting and having a blast from start to finish. Such an under rated raid
Agreed
Got my first every Gjallarhorn from my 2nd Crota completion. It’ll always have a special place in my heart
I haven’t heard someone say “decked out” in awhile, thank you kind stranger
