Growing up, Cannibal Corpse was considered brutal death metal, now granted, I didn't get into them until the mid 90s, (due to the fact I'm only 36). Stuff like Possessed, Hellhammer, Death, Master, Dismember...) was considered death metal but their was a second wave that where the music was chunkier and the vocals were ultra low (Cannibal Corpse, Gorelust, Lividity, Embalmer, Mortician,)
My favorite stuff is from the mid 80’s usually, where you can’t tell if it’s death, black or thrash.
Same here, I prefer the first wave death metal. Not as into what you call the second wave with ultra low vocals. I find Cannibal Corpse and bands like them more on the dull side. It gets boring brah brah. The albums are samey and start to blur into one another. Once you've heard two or three of their albums, you've heard them all.
Vomit The Soul is one my favorite songs of all-time.
Ill be at dead by Dawg as long as i can buy a ticket at the door dont want to pre order bc if something comes up im out money.
Just send the Dawg a proof of purchase and you can redeem the value of the ticket to get a paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaid question answered BRAH BRAH

Butchered at Birth is not the best? Well, having stated that it's the "first" death metal album by the one and only "hecate hectarded hecsack" himself, it will surely bring him to tears bro town
You know I've heard "hecate hactarded hecsack"🤤is in the habit of drinking the old Hessian Horseman🍺while on horseback!🎠

Your take on Scott Burns is basically all correct. In that he was simply an audio engineer who was one of the early dudes to start figuring out Death Metal.
The hate comes from, also basically what you said, he became a name and with a lot of the “less than” bands they got the standard mix from Aisle 5. He developed a template and used it for a LOT of bands. Even some bigger bands early on like Harmony Corruption. Turned Napalm into a Florida death metal band. Which was apparently what they wanted.
But he did some great mixes and recordings as well. Pierced from Within. The Obituary records. Etc. It’s just he became a style people wanted and sure, he said “pay up sucka and I’ll give you the same tone as the band you’re copying”.
Scott Burns is a legend. And I love Harmony Corruption, its my favorite ND. Scott Burns is a pioneer in death metal
No doubt he’s a legend. I like a lot of what he did. But he did have a template that turned a lot of bands into the same sound. Arguably no different than Tomas Skogsberg did in Sweden with the “Swedish” sound. Definitely made very similar sounding albums.
As for Harmony… it’s ok. I like some songs quite a bit. The production is fine but compared to Mentally Murdered EP??? Not even the same planet for me. That ep and mix is fucking brutal. Especially for the time. And then Utopia Banished also sounds awesome. Those were done by another legend in Colin Richardson. He def captured a more brutal sound overall.
Naturally I resort to Butchered at Birth because it was my first from Cannibal. No huffing and puffing. I see in comparison with the other Barnes album. More catchiness etc.
If he gets an interview with Damon Bloodstorm that would be fantastic.

Indeed, I always felt the same about Butchered. Though I do certainly like it and also think Meat Hook Sodomy is one of the best death metal songs ever, the rest of the album doesn't quite match up to the opener nor the rest of the Barnes-era releases, in my opinion. Feel somewhat similar about Once upon the Cross (regarding the first 4 Deicide releases). That's cool you got see Gospel in fucking Cleveland of all places. I'm surprised they even bothered coming to the US. When A Call to Arms came out back in the 2000s, I didn't really know anyone who liked them or even knew about them here in the States. I recall a buddy of mine knocking it when I'd spin it. Though, he was more into the "brutal death metal" stuff.
Last two songs, Rancid Amputation and Innards Decay, are the best songs on Butchered at Birth.
@ Rancid Amputation indeed. Great fucking song.
I don't understand why anyone would consider Butchered At Birth to be the worst album for Barnes Vocally. I think that he sounded the best on Butchered, but all his Vocals were really good with Cannibal Corpse. I think that he needed to be higher in the mix on Tomb of the Mutilated, but I do agree that he sounded good on Post Mortal Ejaculation. He was the pioneer of the guttural Vocals.
I guess you never listened to Napalm Death, Bolt Thrower or Carcass' work before 1990. The British bands pioneered guttural vocals in grindcore/death before Chris Barnes/Cannibal Corpse. Barnes was influenced by grindcore and that extreme style.
I'd have to imagine a Kratom drink would taste terrible-if it tastes anything like kratom.
it tastes really bad, yes. lol I gotta mix it with a juice to be able to ingest it.
Used to take kratom all the time, it definitely works. I used to take capsules mostly
@kmartgoth8313 Agreed, though it seems easy to build a tolerance.

Sloth-Dawg love bun
I can name 3 off the top of my head on Butchered At Birth that have blasts. Gutted,Living Dissection and covered with sores also the title track all have blasts. You’re wrong though Butchered is a FAR superior album to Eaten Back To Life!!! Innards Decay,Meathook Sodomy,Gutted,Under the Rotted Flesh,Rancid Amputation are all killer songs!!! Eaten Back To Life is just not as memorable. Mangled rules and Shredded Humans are good. Less memorable. But yeah Tomb is alot better songwriting wise. Beyond the Cemetery (which you forgot to mention) is one of the best songs they ever made and yes The Bleeding is the best of that era. However The Pick Axe Murders is maybe my favorite song on there and yeah Return to flesh is a bit slower but no less good. The solo that Rob does at the end is what saves that song from being totally forgettable. Pulverized might be the second best song on there though. The first best song being She was asking for it or Stripped r*ped and strangled. Fucked with a knife is my least favorite song on there.
@@infernicide666 for once you say something I agree with!! ONLY your first sentence, the rest is whatever. Dawg don’t know nothing about music, he thinks blast beats have to be the absolute fastest you can humanly produce. Uncle grandawg is wrong, but you’re absolutely right about all those tracks having blast. They might not be the fastest but they’re blast.
There's rally no such thing as half blasts lol. Slow single foot blasts are called Hammer/Grind blasts and they're my favorite type. Bomb blasts eat up too much of the bass frequency and get blurry.
Tomb is my favorite but next is Butchered I don't like Eaten very much but I'm not a fan of early death thrash stuff.
Fukkkkkking right Butchered is 1000 times better than the demo sounding Eaten Back to Life. The title track was an absolute classic. Vomit the Soul, Living Dissection, Meathook Sodomy absolutely destroyed all Death Metal recorded prior to Butchered At Birth.
@@off6848The Vocals are better on Butchered At Birth. Too low in the mix on Tomb of the Mutilated.
The lead guitar on Entrails is one of the best , and most memorable solos in Death Metal.
Created to kill is fucking goated asf, I like Vile more but my god Created to kill is great. I love Return to flesh though, I think the worst song off of The bleeding is probably The pick axe murders, an underrated asf CC song tho is An experiment in homicide
CANNIBAL CORPSE !!! 🤘🏻
Cycling stimulants is EXCELLENT advice. I cycle, Adderall and caffiene.. never use same consecutive days.
Drinking game… drink every time the Dawg says “goddamn” 😂
I agree with Butchered being the weaker of the Barnes albums. I listen to that one much less than Eaten, Tomb, and Bleeding.
Butchered has always been my least favorite of the Barnes era but still love it. I think Rancid Amputation and Innards Decay are some of the most underrated Cannibal Corpse songs IMO.

When listening to some of those early Slipknot albums, it’s clear that everything is being built around Jordison throughout the mix, usually playing the double-bass drums at a frenetic pace and making the entire band breathe a bit more when working on tracks like ‘Before I Forget’ and ‘Duality. Although Jordison is no longer with us, Jordison knew that it was better to serve the song and play what felt right for the track. There’s a certain way for most people to approach any great tune, but listening to everyone from Copeland to Jordison to Buddy Rich, each one of them knew that they should wait before they could let their inner self out

I never could've guessed to see Destruktor and Nintendo in the same sentence lol
@ If you know the reference you know. Kind of an obscure reference though so I’m not surprised alot of people might not get it lol
what do you have against blood incantation?
@ The guitarist is a communist and they’re hipsterish. Not menacing or singing about violence and death and destruction which is what true death metal should be. The sci fi themes are fucking lame. Nocturnus sang about sci fi shit but it was different. Blood Incantation is GeN Z poser safe space watered down SJW death metal
why does the dawg have scars on his forehead? looks like he got scratched by a bear or something

Hope that Damon Bloodstorm interview happens!
It's ironic that Deicide, and Cannibal Corpse are his favorites. Yet Butchered At Birth features Glen Benton on the chorus of Vomit the Soul. I know that he also did Vocals with Francis of Incubus for Mangled from Eaten Back to Life, but he sounds better on Vomit the Soul.
17:17 cc paid question
Butchered At Birth was definitely the first Brutal Death Metal album. There are blasts on Living Dissection, and Covered With Sores ( my least favorite song too happy, but it does have blasts). Vomit the Soul is catchy.
Agree on Butchered At Birth, they lost me on that album. I love the vocals from the demo, he should have continued in that style.
Cannibal Corpse - Gutted at the 20 second mark.
