Love to see you make a video showing the torque split again on the dyno. Seeing the viscous coupler in slow mo gives me the impression its worth it than sourcing from the other wagon civics. Its brand new too!
Was about to run out and buy one, but for $2500 I can do any number of entire diff assemblies, have my driveshaft modded, and have money left over for an lsd up front. Really excited this is out there, but I hope cheaper options are available soon. Having a clean stealth OEM install is my favorite part. I'm sure it will be worth it to many people for that alone.
Pros and cons of this vs the ramp clutch you took out? Some crv forums were saying the ramp clutch stands up better in a longterm usage because of lower heat. Really didn't know what to Google because I don't know the right questions to ask.
So if you do this you do not need a wagovan viscous and don't need to pin the clutch pack? Does this make it so all 4 wheels spin all the time instead of just when the front wheels slip
Hai and hello my friend, thanks for this knowledgable video..I never know the clutch can be replace with somethin else and looks much better..and Im so interested to find one for my 97 crv...may I know what is the item names and where can I get it..thank you.
Hi, friend. That work you did looks excellent, I would like a 2002 crv for me, a question, what works in the turns at low speed and at high speed, does it not feel strange doing that work?
That parts looks great, no need to weld the clutch pack. Also the propeller is solid no need to look for freelander viscous coupler or stock viscous coupler Awd of honda (hard to find)
I know am late to the party🎉 but as far as daily driving and some track use like drag and auto cross would this unit hold up with the addition of a gear x pinion and gear and the motor setup for trubo and 500hp and 390 torque if not what would u recommend if you where run this set up and wanted and awd set for 1998 civic coupe
I'm doing a j2k in my rd1 crv and using a 09 element trans and diff. Would this be useful if I was just daily driving it and driving rough dirt roads with some decent hills.
Hey Red, so say if i get this gear x Viscous Coupler does it matters if i use it on an element differential or will using it on the Crv still be better?
Thank you for responding what I meant to ask is that I also have that same year diff and I don’t know what axles to used since I’m not awd jus yet do I jus used the 2007 crv rear axles?thank you so much in advance
@@GravyBuilt I saw another one of your videos and I got it mixed up. If I understand correctly, you removed the clutch packs and pump to install the VC in the front of the housing, and in another video, you simply replaced the stock crv diff with a gear x diff... and these are the only mods/upgrades performed when rebuilding these things, correct?
@GravyBuilt thanks for the quick reply. That's great when u try locate freelander vc and custom drive shaft and doin the rear diff it gets expensive. Great alternative 👍🏼 💪🏼
That's correct that channel was started in Tim's name and he doesn't live up to his promises so I walked away now I have control of my own channel and edit my own videos it's actually not difficult
@@GravyBuilt o ok. Well I will sub to this one. Can't want to see the gear x vc. Wanted one but went with the s1 built disc. Maybe once the car is making real power then I will think of upgrading.
@@BlessedVeteranAdventures he was on pirate garage before where he built the awd em1. So I was shocked when I saw he started a new channel. But he explained why in the above comment.
You need to do more research on what a viscous coupler does and how to retrofit one with a crv diff because I can't answer your question until you understand more how these systems work

I think your confused on what this is, do your research on what viscous couplers are available for a honda that are rebuildable and have 60k fluid

Pros and cons of this vs the ramp clutch you took out? Some crv forums were saying the ramp clutch stands up better in a longterm usage because of lower heat. Really didn't know what to Google because I don't know the right questions to ask.
This will handle more power vs the dual pump, this is what Honda used to use but then went with the dual pump for fuel economy
Have you had anyone running both VC and a modified ramped differential?
@@GravyBuilt great have a link please for dude in France ?
With this VC can we see see a 50 50 power transfer to the rear?
Looking forward to the dyno
The Honda AWD doesn't work like that, it will be 50/50 until the rear vc slips
So if you do this you do not need a wagovan viscous and don't need to pin the clutch pack? Does this make it so all 4 wheels spin all the time instead of just when the front wheels slip
No wagon parts now pins and k series awd is always fwd the rear uis parasitic
Happy new year my unknown friend I really appreciate 🙏 wat you do, you help out alot of people that's getting into the awd game
Any updated review on the crv gear x viscous coupler. Do you still recommend it.
Yes it works well on my car
You were speeding through but do you need new shafts for the gear x? Can i just toss that in and use stock shafts? God bless
This part is completely bolt in it will work with all oem parts

Are you able to change the fluid for better lock up etc
Yes, it currently has 60k fluid but you can use 100k but you will break parts easier

With this would it be possible to run a Oem driveshaft like a element since they have a similar length
Yes
I really like it! Perfect for my 99 crv

That's what this is designed for
Would I benefit from this product in my stock 98 crv? Planning on doing a lot of off roading/trailing here soon when summer hits.
Definitely
I'm doing a j2k in my rd1 crv and using a 09 element trans and diff. Would this be useful if I was just daily driving it and driving rough dirt roads with some decent hills.
Yes
Could you do a side by side comparison with a wagon viscous coupler including the insides?
Not unless you want to buy one, the wagon vs goes for over $1000 used
Do automatics need viscous coupler or are they only needed in manual transmissions?
Is about power and what you plan to use it for
Hey Red, so say if i get this gear x Viscous Coupler does it matters if i use it on an element differential or will using it on the Crv still be better?
Depends if you are k series, but it works for both
Hello question what axles do I used with the same rear differential you have what year axles are compatible thnxs
Installing the VC doesn't affect the differential in the rear carrier assembly
Thank you for responding what I meant to ask is that I also have that same year diff and I don’t know what axles to used since I’m not awd jus yet do I jus used the 2007 crv rear axles?thank you so much in advance
07 axles won't work for a swap car you need 97-06 axles depenon your application, I can't help you more unless I see the car
@@GravyBuilt thank you 🙏
Did you remove the stock components from the rear housing when installing this?
What components exactly are you asking about

Yes 2 separate upgrades
how much would one of these cost,?
im interested

@@GravyBuilt ok thanks
What fluid do you run now? Dual pump, or gear oil?
Gear oil
Does that viscous coupler have a part number
Mag me on Instagram I'm a gear x dealer I can sell you one @gravy_built
Awesome work brother thanks for the info
So now with these u dont need custom freelander vc? U just run oem driveshaft straight to the rear diff?
Correct it's a bolt in upgrade from a factory configuration
@GravyBuilt thanks for the quick reply. That's great when u try locate freelander vc and custom drive shaft and doin the rear diff it gets expensive. Great alternative 👍🏼 💪🏼
Plus the VC removes all the OEM clutch parts reducing failure when using locking plates
Where I can get one of those viscous couplers ? Thanks In advance
My contact info is in the description, I'm a gear-x dealer
So I can run this with no driveshaft vc?
Yes that would ve redundant, this is made to be an easy bolt in replacment to the crv duel pump
Hey red wondering if the rear diff gear ratio of the 2nd gen crv and 3rd gen crv are the same?
02-04 is like the older 05-06 is like 07-11
Have you had any issues with these units?
I have not
Any plans for selling the fuel cell you use?
Not yet, I'm not a fabricator I'm a mechanic I have tried funding someone to help me make them but have been disappointed twice by there attitude
Where can I buy that ?
I'm a gear x dealer I can sell you one, msg me on Instagram @gravy_built
How much is it ?

The amount of torque that is transferred to the rear
