The plastic part on the oem bearing is the shielding portion. Those replacement bearing you put on the gear-x diff are non shielded. The shielding can also retain the broken portions of a failed bearing and I think thats why Honda uses them.
Would you recommend reusing them if they have low miles on them?
@@TheRealDannydosthe bearings are either a 2RS or a special 1RS made for Honda. The RS denotes the seals .Its likely that Honda used a 1RS ( sealed one side ) as extra insurance not relying on the single lip seal on the drive shaft coupling . The bearing also looks like its designed to withstand side thrust . Which the plain ball rollers he is using can't. Reuse the Honda bearings if they spin smoothly or replace with the same spec bearing . Honda bearings are NOT plastic LOL .
For all of those looking for the information regarding the Bearings. I just contacted Gear-X and this is what they communicated as alternative part numbers for the AWD CRV Rear LSD bearings.
Diff Carrier Bearings:
Honda# 91005-PL0-008
NAPA# BRN 276207
NACHI# 6207
NTN # 6207
Good luckt
I have always thought about upgrading my 2005 Honda CR-V rear differential to a limited slip type.
Same here. I need better drive for deep snows.
Would this help with off-road performance with an Automatic transmission?
Big Fail by shadetree mechanic. You changed the bearings and carrier, so this means you need to reset the preload, on the bearings, and set the backlash and check the contact pattern on the differential. That is the whole reason that shim packs exist in the first place. People already pointed out the bearing issues.
Do you need to set the backlash on this install? And can not setting the backlash cause a vibration at 60+mph?
Hello, when one installs the diff gear x as you want, do you have to pin the clutch? have you already tried it?
Precision engineering
Hi I’ve been looking for the bearing for the gear x lsd but can’t find them. What is the part number for the bearings?
Nice install video!! I need to do this to my element rear diff for my integra!
Considering using one of these as a diff for a trike conversion any thoughts??
Do you have a parts list for ring & pinion bearings and carrier bearings?
A few uggas on my impact 🤣 thats gold haha
Is this the same Diff you did the clutch pack shim and pump spring on in a previous video?
What's up Red!!!! Are these rear diff still available? I cannot find them on Gear-X's site nor anywhere else. Thx.
They are, msg me on Instagram but they are out of stock at the moment
Same. I couldn’t find it on their website. Sorry I don’t have IG anymore. Great vid though.
How much would this set cost as a bolt on option ?
i’m super late, but can this be used for the AWD diff on the auto CRV?? (mine is an 02 w/ the k24)
How much power can that diff handle.
Great info, Red. I've got a 2005 Element AWD/MT and I'm glad to see that there are front and rear LSDs available for it. Is the Wavetrac 60.309.190WK the only option for the front? Do you have both of these (Wavetrac and Gear-X) installed on the same car with no problems?
You can mix and match it will work just fine, I can get you the gear x diffs I'm a dealer
@@PirateGarage hi red, you can quote me the rear and front GearX LSD.. My Email abdielmevo@gmail.com.. Regards!
TQ. ALL.
Mine is 2016 crv. Put up on jack stands and one rear wheel does not spin as fast as other three. Would this be a sign that this repair needs to be done?
So you don't have to set mesh or backlash or anything??
Fuuuuuck thanks so much!!!! This helps my build so much!
Where can I get that awd kit from
Dont forget to check pinion depth and backlash ;)... Thats what the shims are offset for.
Didnt change the ring and pinion so not necessary
@@PirateGarage You changed a differential and bearings.
do you have parts number for all this build?
I am interested in purchasing one and the required bearings. How do I contact you?
What kinda power do the CRV handle?
Part number for the bearings please 🙏
Can i used 96 differential to gear x lsd???thanks
do i need to pinn the clutches still?
What does it do when u change this ?
Can I run the lsd on a 08 crv awd?
Good job!
Good work Red. 👍🏾
Is this fit to rd1 diff
Hi my friend can i put this lsd in a honda hrv 2000 model?
So the Element AWD had the same diff in the rear as the CRV?
Yes
Will this improve handling , think on bad results with roller test for 4th gen CR-V ?
What are the options for the front
cool, don't seem that difficult. I didn't know they made lsd for these. got a 2nd gen crv that needs rebuilt. I'd go with the typical torque specs for those bolts + blue thread lock and call it good.
great job i want a link to buy the lsd Differential
please
I need one for my 2004 CRV for off-road use. Will an OEM 06-11 civic si Diff work or do I need this gear-x lsd?
What type of lsd is that? Cluch pack? Hellical torsen type?
Why did you go with the crv/element rear diff instead of the wagon? Are you going to pin the clutch pack when adding the lsd?
Wagon is expensive and rare, crv rears will have a lot of parts available soon making it a better choice.
@@PirateGarage what about the clutch pack?
Tim is going to pin his clutch pack and use a VC.
@@PirateGarage so when pinning the clutch pack you can also add the lsd to it to also right?
@@PirateGarage Don't forget to tell us when these new parts are available
What's that bearing number?
I have a 1998 CRV RD1, I need to replace the rear differential oil seals where the rear axle goes, can you let me know other CRV models that have exact similar oil seals. The reason, RD1 oil seals 1997 to 2000 are not available to buy in my country right now. Appreciate it if you can help me.
The parts are the same. Element, cross tour and crv up to 2011.
@@TheRealDannydos thanks for your prompt reply.
What do these differentials weigh? What gear ratio are they and are all of these crv diffs the same?
Hey where do I find the part number for the bearings you used
Hi great videos very informative. After you've installed the gear x lsd in the crv differential did you still weld and pin the clutch pack?
He would only do that if he were to add a viscous coupler.
@@robertreid4138 Would you even need that if you go lsd? Or would it slip enough to keep the front and back running smoothly. I hear the back drags a bit if you pin it with no viscous and no lsd.
What part number is that?? Would a 08 civic si LSD fit and the CRV rear?
No
Great install video. More of a reason for me get my awd swap completed so I can start upgrading
hola, existe lsd para honda hrv 1.6 105 cv year 1999 4wd ???
Do you still need to use a vicious coupler? Or a propshaft without a coupler?
Only if you delete the clutch the LSD replaced the differential not the power tranafer
Sr can you told me te bearings diferential size o code brand ??? regards

How much do you sell this for? I have a 2004 Honda Element that’s going boosted. I don’t have Instagram
Contact gear x Jeff will help you out
Pirate Garage awesome bro- thank you. Going lsd front and rear
Hi,
I have an 2005 honda crv ex 4wd and i want to lock my differential to use it for off road and something like that...
How to make it with less money?
Weld it
And when i weld it i can drive it everyday without vibration or something else
This is my daily suv and i like to make it better
@@robertjdaidaneh7682 it’s not recommended for a daily it’s usually for race applications
Great presentation Red. pretty simple install, but a great upgrade.
Can't wait to throw it in and go for a test drive
Horrible video! And you are the owner? Shame. Could speak wonders about your tolerances...hmmm💩🧐
Do you sell limited slip differentials for a 1997 honda crv? If so, how much?
Yes, msg me on Instagram
Wt your Instagram man
25 nov 2019 12:32 pm est:thanks
And the diff is roughly a thousand dollars?
Retail is $900
A tapered roller bearing would be best. The tq on the bolts can be easily found by using a bolt tq chart
The bearings I used are equivalent to factory I think Honda knows what they are doing
Yes Honda engineers know exactly what they are doing. They chose that bearing according to the needs. That bearing is great for low friction a tapered roller bearing is great for higher loads as they have a greater contact area. But thats not needed for all of us.
@@alexhise968 the stock honda bearing is angular
Do you still need to pin the viscous couplers with this LDS diff?
The crv rear does not have a viscous coupler
I don’t see the LSD on gear x website
You can contact me I'm a gear x dealer, gravybuiltracing@gmail.com
Pirate Garage Thanks I just emailed ya
Should I do this to my brv
Has anyone used those ebay phantom LSD on their rear diffs?
Are the auto diffs the same as the 5 spd's..?
Yes
@@PirateGarage Thanks for the conformation...👍👍
Would that be a good upgrade for a 2nd gen crv ?
Sure
@@PirateGarage I can’t even find it on their website. I just bought a 2Gen CRV 5spd manual for a winter beater. I live in the hilly northeast so it can get bad here. I got stuck with my open diff 07 Impreza multiple times.
Where you buy the bearings
how can lower the rpm in my 2003 crv awd? changing the differential?
Change the gearing in the transmission
What year CRV diff do i need to use?
I said that in the video
What is the difference between the 08 CRV and the 05 and lower years ?
The 98-04 crv rear doesn't have the ramp assembly that gives you that quick initial engagement
Pirate Garage so 05 and up work ?
@@evadipsrt The gen 2.5 CRV rear diff is where you want to be (2005 & 2006 only) These were the only diffs from the factory to have ramps
@@cosp_ride3095 what about element differentials?
Is there a difference between the auto vs the Manuel diff?
The rear crvs are the same
Don't think so
Thank you sir! I just wanted to make sure haha 👍🏽😁
Yo Red does this mean you can do ridiculous launchs now?
Yup
Where did you find the new bearings??????
Wavetrac gave them to me I didn't keep the boxes not sure on the number
Ok thank you!! I will start with them
Did you ever find the part number for the bearings?? Been searching but hard to find
What it does that thing on the differential ?whats the difference between the stock one?
Better traction
How much cost the full awd conversion to my em2?
That depends on how much I can get the used parts for
Does this fit the first gen RD1 CRV?
Yes there are 2 variations, msg me on Instagram I'm a gear x dealer
@@PirateGarage whats your instagram
Will this fit my 2005 CRV, or is it different from 2007-2011?
Yes it will
Yes they are the same
@@PirateGarage Thanks, and can i still use the stock rear diff as is with original honda rear diff oil?
Yes the fluid won't effect the lsd it's a helical, email if you would like to perchise one I'm a dealer for gear x
Pirate Garage Please get a hold of me for that GearX Lsd for my 99 CR-V , You got in contact with me once by email I responded back several times , But you never got back to me I know you're probably busy but I would like to get this part for my 1999 CRV. thank you very much
