  • I buy a ridiculous custom Yamaha Banshee with a 600cc sport bike engine swap. This Banshee is supposed to make 100hp and a top speed of over 140mph. Can we fix it up and make it run? #Yamaha, #Banshee, #100HP,

      I just got a 250 timberwolf bored out to 350, big cam, crank, piston, timing chain and rod. I've never seen a 250 built like it is it's all stock plastics and wheels that's about all that's stock on it. I got it for free not running. I cleaned the carb and went through it and now she runs great. She'll stand up in every gear.

    If they took the engine and half the frame out of a katana 600 that was somewhat aerodynamic, only had 2 wheels, and only topped out about 135 on a good day. They put all that weight into a banshee frame, with 4 wheels, no aerodynamics anymore, and weighs more than the katana weighed, I'm thinking 180 might just be a pipe dream. Could still prove to be a blast to rip though.

    i would definitely look into refabricating some of that. You could definitely make adapter plates to bolt it together. I don't know how good of a fabricator you are but this might be a great opportunity to learn! The katana was a pig, but that will definitely scoot in the banshee frame. Kind of sad they fd up the banshee though, they're getting harder and harder to find. Pretty excited to see you fix her up though. A good sport bike motor swap with proper fabrication and CLEAN wiring can go for 3k plus. Without it though, it's worth maybe what you paid for it. Has great potential, but take the time to really do this right.

    • @chrismiller5258
      @chrismiller5258 3 роки тому

      @@thecarse1447 it's been fun jigging this frame up so I could slug it and add pipe. Yeah tons of good harley engines I could go with but I would have to spend a decent amount for one. I've already got the 74 amf engine in the garage and didn't have to pay anything for it. Took it on trade a few years ago, triple tree was broke in two, and the rear was bent so the bike wanted to dog leg down the road, so using the engine from it is just cost efficient and should be plenty, it runs very good.

    What a monster! I don't know for sure, but i'm wondering if the Katana frame is aluminum while the Banshee frame is steel and the previous owner tried to MIG weld the steel and the aluminum together. Again take it with a grain of salt but just make sure those welds are strong. I know that many people use a "TIG" welder on aluminum. Thanks for sharing your new find with us, good luck and stay safe.

    • @jonnyonwheels
      @jonnyonwheels 3 роки тому +2

      The katana GSX600F was a air/oil cooled bike with a steel frame, they’re pretty cheap/simple/plentiful which is probably why someone used it for this. The faster/lighter/more powerful GSXR600 or Gixxer would’ve had the aluminum frame but also be liquid cooled so you’d have to make room for radiators

    I'd love to take that beast for a rip!!! Lol sucks Yamaha and other atv brands never put grease fittings onto wheel and axle bearings. I'd check those out before ever going over 100 on it. They can be smooth but dry and when you go super fast it could heat up and lock up. You would prob smell the seals burning before that happened but still. I'd check the bearings up close. Sweet build though. Can't wait to see this thing moving!!! Sounds sick bro!!!
