One of Issac Hayes greatest MASTERPIECES! Sampled a gazillion times! One of the best cuts to sample it was Jay Z - Can I Live on his first album Reasonable Doubt. Also easily one of the greatest remakes of all-time! I will never forget seeing him perform live in 2005 in ATL at Chastain Amphitheater with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra....great show and they absolutely KILLED THIS CUT!!!

I made a comment months ago that Issac Hayes took that Dusty Springfield/Burt Bacharach track and souled it the f*ck out. I bet cats with 8-tracks in their Caddy's and Lincolns played this heavy back in the early '70s when cruising thru the hood. Wish I could've seen that. 😎

Jay-Z's "Can I Live" sampled this, but it's a classic, so you could have heard this from various places. I think this was also on the soundtrack of the movie "Dead Presidents".
An incredible cover of this song. Special with his vocals and framed by a beautiful arrangement of instruments. Always loved Dusty's & Dionne's versions as well. Love that vocal echo in the slowmo outro!

MP yes the long version JJ a you probably reacted jay z “Can I Live” which this was sample but nothing beats this originally composed by Burt Barcharach & Hal David but Dusty Springfield sung the original but I really prefer the way Isaac composed it his own ❤️❤️❤️👍🏾

Young brother Issac hayes is one of the most heavily sampled artists of all times. For example on this same album “, Ike’s mood / you lost that loving feeling”- if you take that track and play the 33 rpm album and play it at 45 rpm @ the 1:44 min mark you will find one of the most classic hip hop beats!
Issac hayes has been sampled as much as James brown.
Keep up the good work, I enjoy your discovery of Real R&B and soul music from the 60’s70’s and 80’s- which is the richest genre of popular music period.
