Installing Idler Gear And Setting Bearing Play On A Chevy Squarebody NP205 Transfer Case

I’m rebuilding my Np205 now.
And you answered my question.
My idler shaft is hitting my shims when I install it.
My question was do I need to shims??
I found out, the answer is yes.

You have to check endplay with the shaft installed in the case with the nut torqued down all the way.
