From bitten to smitten in three songs flat. That's how it goes with Lovebites. They're phenomenal. I saw them live for the first time last week and I've never had as much fun at a gig. I'm seeing them again on July 1st. If there's any way you can make it to one of their US shows in September, you really should.
I just want to thank you both so much for the great work! When I started listening to Lovebites, not many people knew this band! Some people called me crazy! Even my family condemned my love for this band! A lot of time has passed since then! I'm still part of the Wolfpack! This band is the best band from Japan! And definitely TOP 5 bands in the world in Metal&Rock genre! Shadowmaker was my first love bite! I heard the band for the first time before Miho announced her voluntary departure from the band! One of my most painful wounds in my life! Miho was the heart and soul of the band! But I love Fami as much as Miho! Miyako is one of the greatest musical talents and artists of our time! Fire. Track that made me realize that they are one of the best metal bands ever. You should see the live version - they pull it off seamlessly. Midori and Miyako are generational music talents. No one I've heard comes close to how well they can harmonize. Like Jordan & Jordan...perfect.

I felt the same as you both do, when I found this band several years ago. You might try the song, "Break the Wall" live@ Zepp, Diver City 2020. it's thrash, with 2 guitar solos that are quite different and will definitely bring tears to your eyes because they are sooooo good. Enjoy
Listening to their guitar soloes twice!?. Absolutely no complaints from me. Yes this band needs to be world famous. It is almost cheating to have this much talent in one band. Great reaction as usual. For pure thrash goodness Thunder Vengeance live and Break The Wall live. Use the Zepp Divercity one for both of them. Break The Wall will really impress you (I hope). It is one of the best thrash metal songs I have ever heard.
I'm so glad you picked up on how in M&M's solos they hand off by picking up a note in the range the other left. It's a simple but creative touch that's often missed. One of my favorite solos is in "Today Is The Day", where it's not quite the same thing, but during Midori's solo Miyako throws in a pinch harmonic that's in progression with her backing rhythm but also accents the end of Midori's solo run beautifully. "Today Is The Day" is a LoveBites deep cut that shouldn't be missed. Btw, "Shadowmaker" is as amazing live as it is recorded, and what is even more amazing is how M&M use dry tones so there's not a lot of crazy effects to muddy things up to hide mistakes, yet they still shred flawlessly...and give it up to Haruna for running a marathon on that double bass.
I can totally tell their tone is not effect heavy. I can hear a slight touch of delay on some parts especially when they sweep you can really hear it.. but yes not alot of mud to hide the mishaps and thats what amazes me the most.. the precision and flawless execution...even the best of the best will mis articulate notes but I still havent heard them do that lol. Yes, those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in a very short time. Some people say that they’re angels who came to planet Earth in order to save metal. My next recommendation is “Thunder vengeance” (live, Japan, 2020)
The day after they‘ve been walking around in that city in France (Strasbourg), I saw them live for the very first time. Miyako was only 3 feet in front of me when playing all that awesome solos. I will never forget that night!!! You’re so right, everybody should know about them. At least they will play some huge festivals the next days (but short early afternoon slots - what’s shame). By the way Miyako is a Dean signature artist, you will easily find her on Dean’s website with her white dress among the other guys all wearing black 😉

Confirmed absolutely undisputed. Reviewers and commentators are finding it tough to define the genre being brought to the table. Perhaps these awesome accomplished composer musicians, as mark of respect and tribute to their contribution to the revival and rejuvenation of metal, should have their genre conferred with the proclamation and defined as Lovebites heavy metal. Unique and currently nothing comes close, despite having reminiscence of the previous greats.
Shadowmaker was my first contact with Lovebites in 2017. OK, I thought, you can do a lot with music videos. I want to hear and see Shadowmaker live, "they can't do that". After that I watched the Daughters of the Dawn live concert, which was fortunately streamed in full on the original Lovebites UA-cam channel. Conclusion: Shadowmaker (live) was a lot more impressive than the MV. These little ladies play everything into the ground. I've seen a lot live, but this was the biggest positive shock of my life. My entire experienced German metal musical navigation system was completely destroyed and had to be recalibrated afterwards. A completely new, great Japanese musical world was revealed to me. I discovered Babymetal, Band Maid (embarrassingly on the second attempt), Unlucky Morpheus, MTH, Wagakki Band, Bridear, Galneryus, Hanabie, Undead Corporation, Saiseiga, Asterism, Show- Ya, ..........I knew about X-Japan/Loudness from the 90's on crappy bootlegs but had no idea how big the scene was. I was very lucky to be able to accompany Nemophila from the very beginning. I discovered the world class drummer Tamu Murata on UA-cam 2 years before they were formed. Nemophila is somehow my pride and joy as a discoverer. I like all of these bands. Lovebites brought back my joy in heavy metal. The gross type of heavy metal live band that I compare all others to. A harsh statement but true. I am impressed by the "Jedi level" precision.

Saw a video someone took of Midori at a guitar convention, that I think was in the states a few years back. And she had gotten her hands on one of the newer models, and was just shredding for the crowd for a good 20 minutes. She was just in casual clothes, playing effortlessly, until some absolute IDIOT came along, and complained they were being too loud, making them turn down the amp.
Possibly the one taken from her appearance at the NAMM 2020. Miyako was there as well playing on, I think, the Peavey stand. It was astonishing to see so many people just walking by these two amazing musicians without even a glance.
Yes, that was NAMM 2020, I was there. The volume is monitored by the decibel police with meters. First offense is a warning, second offense you get escorted out of the building and lose your booth.This is a music tradeshow and most of us are there to do business. Could you imagine what would happen if every booth just dimed all their amps for their demos, it would get really ugly, really fast.
@@tonym480What you have to understand about NAMM is that some of the biggest names in Rock/Metal are there. Steve Vai was demoing amps a couple of rows over when Midori was playing, where do you think the majority of the people are going to be, no one knows who Midori is. For me, I only got to see a couple minutes of her demo and then had to go a meeting. I did say hello to her on an escalator later on in the day. Unfortunately I missed Miyako completely because of meetings (I did meet her in 2018 when she was there).

Hey, thanks, that was fun! They are quite phenomenal, imo. I had to wait 'till late among commenters to minimize 'blowback' on what I'm gonna suggest, reaction or not. It's "Shadowmaker LIVE" that is not a 'fan upload' or LOVEBITES "Official" but an Official Bloodstock Festival recording that is widely considered to be the "worst" audio-recording/camera-work (allbeit great performance) of LOVEBITES since the August 10, 2018 performance, (for an example of the audacity that anyone would call anything "LOVEBITES worst" in any aspect!): ua-cam.com/video/xYdJHaqy_JM/v-deo.html Granted, it has it's less-than-ideal qualities, but the energy & performance are undeniable. Haruna's 'favorite' gig up to that point (stated in interview). I was one saying to avoid for more than a year. (Oh! did I just type that? &:-) What happened at Bloodstock was they were scheduled on a different small stage but Suicidal Tendencies' plane was late & a substitute band was needed at the last minute. Based on reviews/reactions to their performance a week earlier in Germany, out of over 100 bands in attendance LOVEBITES was chosen, but no soundcheck, weak monitors, Miyako's guitar low in the mix at times, drums ? kinda boxxy ? camera work, just not familiar with what happens in the songs (they don't expect long solos) ... you'll see (miss most of harmony-duet) ... but still AMAZING ! (imo) & yes, Midori does not have blond hair & they are on opposite sides of stage back then. (Changed 2020 I heard, to accommodate top of grand piano for Miyako, opening to face audience. Think it says a lot when the solos from a speed metal song hit you in the feels. I think what separates them is their song-writing and how their songs can be so fast, yet melodic with killer riffs and melodies. Yes, those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in a very short time. Some people say that they’re angels who came to planet Earth in order to save metal. My next recommendation is “Thunder vengeance” (live, Japan, 2020)
The day after they‘ve been walking around in that city in France (Strasbourg), I saw them live for the very first time. Miyako was only 3 feet in front of me when playing all that awesome solos. I will never forget that night!!!

You are correct and one of the bands that they beat for the award was Sleep Token.
There's a special edition of "Clockwork Immortality" which includes a live-DVD titled "Battle in the East" featuring a concert from June 28, 2018, and somewhere during that concert they show the award to the audience.

Confirmed absolutely undisputed. Reviewers and commentators are finding it tough to define the genre being brought to the table. Perhaps these awesome accomplished composer musicians, as mark of respect and tribute to their contribution to the revival and rejuvenation of metal, should have their genre conferred with the proclamation and defined as Lovebites heavy metal. Unique and currently nothing comes close, despite having reminiscence of the previous greats.

Shadowmaker was my first contact with Lovebites in 2017. OK, I thought, you can do a lot with music videos. I want to hear and see Shadowmaker live, "they can't do that". After that I watched the Daughters of the Dawn live concert, which was fortunately streamed in full on the original Lovebites UA-cam channel. Conclusion: Shadowmaker (live) was a lot more impressive than the MV. These little ladies play everything into the ground. I've seen a lot live, but this was the biggest positive shock of my life. My entire experienced German metal musical navigation system was completely destroyed and had to be recalibrated afterwards. A completely new, great Japanese musical world was revealed to me. I discovered Babymetal, Band Maid (embarrassingly on the second attempt), Unlucky Morpheus, MTH, Wagakki Band, Bridear, Galneryus, Hanabie, Undead Corporation, Saiseiga, Asterism, Show- Ya, ..........I knew about X-Japan/Loudness from the 90's on crappy bootlegs but had no idea how big the scene was. I was very lucky to be able to accompany Nemophila from the very beginning. I discovered the world class drummer Tamu Murata on UA-cam 2 years before they were formed. Nemophila is somehow my pride and joy as a discoverer. I like all of these bands. Lovebites brought back my joy in heavy metal. The gross type of heavy metal live band that I compare all others to. A harsh statement but true. I am impressed by the "Jedi level" precision.

Saw a video someone took of Midori at a guitar convention, that I think was in the states a few years back. And she had gotten her hands on one of the newer models, and was just shredding for the crowd for a good 20 minutes. She was just in casual clothes, playing effortlessly, until some absolute IDIOT came along, and complained they were being too loud, making them turn down the amp.
There's always that asshole that just can't stand to see ppl having fun 🙄
Possibly the one taken from her appearance at the NAMM 2020. Miyako was there as well playing on, I think, the Peavey stand. It was astonishing to see so many people just walking by these two amazing musicians without even a glance.
Yes, that was NAMM 2020, I was there. The volume is monitored by the decibel police with meters. First offense is a warning, second offense you get escorted out of the building and lose your booth.This is a music tradeshow and most of us are there to do business. Could you imagine what would happen if every booth just dimed all their amps for their demos, it would get really ugly, really fast.
@@tonym480What you have to understand about NAMM is that some of the biggest names in Rock/Metal are there. Steve Vai was demoing amps a couple of rows over when Midori was playing, where do you think the majority of the people are going to be, no one knows who Midori is. For me, I only got to see a couple minutes of her demo and then had to go a meeting. I did say hello to her on an escalator later on in the day. Unfortunately I missed Miyako completely because of meetings (I did meet her in 2018 when she was there).

Hey, thanks, that was fun! They are quite phenomenal, imo. I had to wait 'till late among commenters to minimize 'blowback' on what I'm gonna suggest, reaction or not. It's "Shadowmaker LIVE" that is not a 'fan upload' or LOVEBITES "Official" but an Official Bloodstock Festival recording that is widely considered to be the "worst" audio-recording/camera-work (allbeit great performance) of LOVEBITES since the August 10, 2018 performance, (for an example of the audacity that anyone would call anything "LOVEBITES worst" in any aspect!): ua-cam.com/video/xYdJHaqy_JM/v-deo.html
Granted, it has it's less-than-ideal qualities, but the energy & performance are undeniable. Haruna's 'favorite' gig up to that point (stated in interview). I was one saying to avoid for more than a year. Now I consider it a 'document' of a milestone in the process of their "Awakening" of humanity ! (Oh! did I just type that? &:-)
What happened at Bloodstock was they were scheduled on a different small stage but Suicidal Tendencies' plane was late & a substitute band was needed at the last minute. Based on reviews/reactions to their performance a week earlier in Germany, out of over 100 bands in attendance LOVEBITES was chosen, but no soundcheck, weak monitors, Miyako's guitar low in the mix at times, drums ? kinda boxxy ? camera work, just not familiar with what happens in the songs (they don't expect long solos) ... you'll see (miss most of harmony-duet) ... but still AMAZING ! (imo)
& yes, Midori does not have blond hair & they are on opposite sides of stage back then.
(Changed 2020 I heard, to accommodate top of grand piano for Miyako, opening to face audience.

Think it says a lot when the solos from a speed metal song hit you in the feels. A shredfest you say? You may be interested in a new Japanese band called Koiai. They are basically a child prodigy supergroup. The song, "A New Picture" shreds out of the gate. But it is so wild in its composition. The only hint I will give is that one of their guitarists is Hazuki from Nemophila.
