    I came here because of the video title, since I was looking about it few days ago, but It looked like you were a little lost with Blender.
    Half of the video you were messing around, didnt explain the settings of your octane render, then spent some of the time talking about archipack /blenderkit addon ...

    Soooooo much time wasted with 3dsmax and V-ray!! I'm currently working on a car render for my work, while V-ray gpu render is slow, tedeious, laggy, and sometimes won't even start, on the other hand, Blender and cycles is a breeze to work with, and all materials work as expected on viewport and render! And you can do compositing in the same software! WHAT?!
    Hot damn... I wanna make a video to show people still stuck with grandpa 3dsmax how to and why move to Blender.
    Other shit about Vray GPU: If you switch render engines, all settings are deleted. Materials settings are only visible after hitting render or waiting for the undocked window to update, colorramp, opacity, roughness, all that stuff, you cant see it on the viewport. Also waiting times between frames in animation is absurbly long... it just freezes before and after render is done, sometimes denoising is calculated 5-10 times even tho noise subdivision is done and it is set to mild computation.

    Great video! I’ve been looking into learning Octane for Blender for a while but I’m very comfortable with Cycles and the node system already. In your opinion, do you think you can achieve the same results (light wise) in Cycles and Octane nowadays? I’ve always heard that Octane has a superior light quality. Thanks!

    • @GlassHandFilms
      @GlassHandFilms  3 роки тому +4

      Apologies for the late reply! Currently Cycles is a unidirectional pathtracer. So things like caustics and other phenomenon are really hard to achieve with it. Octane is a unidirectional spectral path tracer that can deliver very lifelike light simulations. Both have their advantages/disadvantages, but what makes octane so easy for me to use is how real world and lifelike it is. Making light setups similar to how they would be in the real world. Cycles is very capable and can achieve amazing results as well, especially with the compositing and cheats in blender :)

    I keep hearing how Octane is faster but Cycles is way faster for me.
    I've tried lowering the quality settings, clamping, enabling RTX acceleration, apparently everything, but no matter what I do, Cycles is still faster.

    Tbh I don't see a single slightest reason why anyone should ever use octane in blender. Cycles is faster, better, stable and native. Octane is done for me, it was my first gpu renderer but in case of c4d I always choose redshift over octane and in blender it's cycles ofc.
