Unless your gyro or servo have a specific feature to tune out wobble, you won't get rid of it unless you turn the gain down. That is specifically why I always recommend the Futaba GYD450!!! It can eliminate that wobble!

When you say the length of the rear turnbuckles is 44mm, where are you measuring from? From the far outside edge of the whole turnbuckle? The inside edge of the inner circle of the turnbuckle ends? The center of the turnbuckle?
Question... Other than adding a Gyro I haven't messed with any settings on my MST. I'm still getting use to drifting. Any suggestions on controller/Gyro settings to set my car up? I've noticed I do a lot of spin outs. Maybe the reaction time or return time on steering isn't set right?
Spinning out is usually due to two things: - too much throttle, too much angle - not a sensitive enough gyro You can drift very well at a steady 25-40% throttle. Try turning your gyro gain up until the front tires wobble.
It is developed for drifting. I have used it in a touring car, just messing around. It works, but you would probably be better off with a standard gyro.
I have no idea why the yokomo fried a servo. I myself never had one of those and only ran the V4 yokomo gyro and love them a lot. Took a couple minutes to understand it though
Hey Troy, would you suggest any gyro beside the 450 470 or 550? Id like to help out new guys to the hobbies and they dont want to put as much $ as me with my 470 Anything else tou think is good value for a beginner? Thanks for your love to the hobby
You can fix it between shock placement and alignment. Double-check that all measurements are correct per the manual. I don't think it would do that with the factory settings.
Wheelbase is around 257mm. Width is around 200mm. Honestly - converting a drag slash would be a really bad idea. These are purpose-built chassis for doing this. The cheapest chassis can be had for around $100-200, and a full RTR can be had for less than $400. Trying to convert a Slash would require more time and $$$, and you would end up with a worse performing vehicle.
Yeah it's hard to tell all that I know is that Electronics you cannot buy anywhere a buddy of mine burnt his ESC up in his rmx right after he got it from a boo-boo soldering a Deans on backwards reverse polarity to the ESC and smoked it we looked everywhere for replacement ESC and could not find one I can't believe that yokomo gyro is giving you such a hard time till yes they are known for burning servos up but it's usually something out of adjustment it takes the servo out I don't know mine works awesome now my buddy has that black gyro there that you have in there that on sinke yeah that sings garbage well he bought the V4 yokomo now and now he's bought two more of them for the micro drift cars that we're doing
The gyro gain is high, and the gyros are very sensitive. They see every little movement of the car and react. You need to either: 1) turn down the gyro gain, or 2) upgrade to a gyro and servo combo that allows some dampening to reduce the gyro wobble while running higher gains.

Hey! Are you still actively replying to comments??? Would love to get ahold of you if you would be so kind to help me with some troubleshooting issues I’m having. I loved my drift car! I have always been obsessed with drifting. Whether it was movies, video games, in my own car, etc, if it was about drifting, I was ALL IN! I always loved seeing videos of RC drifting and INSTANTLY fell in love with the hobby. Like everything else I’m super interested in, I dove head first into researching everything I could about the hobby. Sadly I wasn’t prepared to see the amount of money I would need to spend to even get a slightly legit setup. I couldn’t afford a luxury like that at all growing up and was even harder to save the money as an adult. I finally was able to save up enough money at 26 years old 😂🤦♂️that I could actually use on something expensive that was SOLELY a gift to myself. I bought the ENTIRE setup for my rc drift car all at once. It cost me like 6-800$ and that’s not including all the rims and accessories I bought for it. I was in love. It was the closest thing to professional drifting I could experience with a sick car lol. I definitely couldn’t afford an ACTUAL Honda NSX. Anyway, I bought it from my local hobby store which also has an rc drift track which customers can use freely during store hours for 10$ a day. From the very first day I purchased my car, I was at the store open to close drifting on their track. I spent tons of money and became close to the stores employees, made new friends, and was fully invested and in love with this hobby. Because of my knowledge and experience with drifting concepts, and knowing the physics and all that jazz, I had the hang of it and was drifting like a semi pro within 5 mins. Within the same 2 weeks I bought it, and was at the store every day and never used it outside of the store, my car was acting weird and not really responsive to my controller. Mid run, it just stopped in it’s tracks and eventually wasn’t responding at all except the wheels would turn 1/20 times for a split second when I would mess with the controller. When I got my employee friend/ rc drift Sensei to look at it, the motor/ main components with the fan started smoking. At this point the car was completely unresponsive to remote. The guys at the store tried to help me, and told their boss the issue and even reminded him of how I just got it less than 2 weeks ago and how much I support the store. I was told by the store owner that they were going to try and contact supplier to see about a replacement kit or at least about a replacement part since it definitely wasn’t because of wear or age etc. i returned every day for the next week asking about it and the owner just shut me down every time. Clearly didn’t want to help me. It really turned me off to the hobby and really hurt spending all that money and supporting his store just to be told to screw off basically when my brand new car malfunctioned for reasons completely out of my control. That was over 3 years ago and I really really miss the hobby and drifting my car and customizing it and using the track with friends. Please help me with my problem so I can love this hobby again and put this beautiful, awesome, rc drift machine to good use!!!! What do you think the problem is?? Car stopped mid session. Battery full in car and controller. No response from controller no matter how many times we tried resetting the car or changing batteries etc. guys at store tried everything. Smoke comes from main component in center of of car with the fan and 3 wires coming from it. Wasn’t being driven, just turned on at the counter and not responding as usual but this time it started smoking. Still gets power to car, doesn’t respond. Doesn’t turn wheels anymore when turned on. I would REALLY APPRECIATE any advice or help that you may have. If we can email or something so I can show you the problem with a video or pics, I would gladly pay you for your time and diagnosis! Cheers. Thanks for reading! Hope to hear from you
Hi there! That component that smoked was the ESC. Sounds like a bad connection in it. Good news - you should be able to get a replacement rather cheaply. From what you have said so far, I am assuming you have the MST RMX2.0- but let me know if I am wrong. You will probably want an ESC like this one: ua-cam.com/video/LPVY8W74l5c/v-deo.htmlsi=Jy5t-V2k54qHJB3w
The ESC calibration steps are rather simple - I assume you have the instructions. Typically, when it won't calibrate, it is because it is not seeing the controller inputs. Make sure the throttle trim is zeroed, fresh batteries are in the controller, and it is bound to the receiver correctly.
Loved the on board footage with the body off, so educational for me to see the car dynamics. Thanks again 😊.

Question... Other than adding a Gyro I haven't messed with any settings on my MST. I'm still getting use to drifting. Any suggestions on controller/Gyro settings to set my car up? I've noticed I do a lot of spin outs. Maybe the reaction time or return time on steering isn't set right?
Spinning out is usually due to two things:
- too much throttle, too much angle
- not a sensitive enough gyro
You can drift very well at a steady 25-40% throttle.
Try turning your gyro gain up until the front tires wobble.
@@RoadsideRC ok I’ll try that thank you!
Is gyd450 gyro exclusive for drifting or does it work for general on road racing too?
It is developed for drifting.
I have used it in a touring car, just messing around. It works, but you would probably be better off with a standard gyro.
I have no idea why the yokomo fried a servo. I myself never had one of those and only ran the V4 yokomo gyro and love them a lot. Took a couple minutes to understand it though
Doing some research, it appears this is a common thing with the Yokomo gyros if they are not paired with certain gyros.
I disconnected stock fxx esc reconnected it and it wont respond. How do i get it working? Light is blinking red
You will need to check the stock ESC manual. I believe it needs recalibrated to the controller - a simple job.
Hey Troy, would you suggest any gyro beside the 450 470 or 550?
Id like to help out new guys to the hobbies and they dont want to put as much $ as me with my 470
Anything else tou think is good value for a beginner?
Thanks for your love to the hobby
Here is another to choose from: ua-cam.com/video/1BKO2T7teZ4/v-deo.html
It did really well for me.
As good as the 470?
I just built my yd2z and my wheels get stuck on my shocks at full lock is that an alignment issue?
You can fix it between shock placement and alignment.
Double-check that all measurements are correct per the manual. I don't think it would do that with the factory settings.
@@RoadsideRC I will try it out thanks
My issue was trying to go cheap and picked up some Traxxas electronics for my son's RMX and it sucks lol
YES! That is frequently an issue!
@@RoadsideRC I'm saving for some "middle of the road" Spektrum electronics from my LHS.
The important part is a good gyro and controller. No need for a fancy esc and motor.
What is the wheelbase of these rigs? and Track Width?
Thoughts on converting a 2wd custome built drag slash into a 2wd drift machine?
Wheelbase is around 257mm.
Width is around 200mm.
Honestly - converting a drag slash would be a really bad idea.
These are purpose-built chassis for doing this. The cheapest chassis can be had for around $100-200, and a full RTR can be had for less than $400. Trying to convert a Slash would require more time and $$$, and you would end up with a worse performing vehicle.
The MST rmx 2.0 had non-adjustable turnbuckles the MST rmx 2.0 S has adjustable turnbuckles and was sold in a ready to run
This car has lived many lives. Very hard to really know what it started life as.
Thats the whole fun of drifting rear wheel drive its not easy
I agree! One of the most challenging forms of RC
What causes the wobble or twitching when in a drift?
The gyro gain is high, and the gyros are very sensitive. They see every little movement of the car and react.
You need to either:
1) turn down the gyro gain, or
2) upgrade to a gyro and servo combo that allows some dampening to reduce the gyro wobble while running higher gains.

I’m running a Hobbywing, xd10 pro esc, d10 10.5t motor, yokomo dp302 v4 gyro, traxxas 2075 servo for now, sr515 rx spectrum dx5 pro tx, soon to be moved to my m17 thanks
I didn't get turnbuckles with my mst rmx 2.0s kit
Odd. Are you sure it was a 2.0S, and not a 2.0 (non-"S")?
@@RoadsideRC yea because on the box it said rmx 2.0s even the instructions said rmx 2.0s
@@RoadsideRC but I already got the turnbuckles installed after I built the kit
these look like the titanium yeah racing turn buckles. the stock mst ones are black or red and are aluminum from what i research. my rmx2.0s kit also did too come with turnbuckles
13,5,,but also running rubber tiers on tar av so i think i Need the torqe
Interesting! Have fun!
5:18 they look like weld overdose shocks
I think that might be right based on the previous owner - too bad they were really torn up.
@@RoadsideRC I know right the front looked lower than usual and the rear jacked up and like you said the springs looked torn up
I can't calibrate this stupid esc, its crap! the mst rtr esc won't calibrate, help please!
The ESC calibration steps are rather simple - I assume you have the instructions.
Typically, when it won't calibrate, it is because it is not seeing the controller inputs. Make sure the throttle trim is zeroed, fresh batteries are in the controller, and it is bound to the receiver correctly.
A lot of people quit rc due to tuning
This is true!!!
thats definitely not a mst servo . they have all black wires and dont sound like garbage
Ha! Yeah, not sure what it is.
Gyros and analoge servos doesnt allways play nice. I usally have digital servos with gyro in airplanes, avoids oscillation and burnt servos.
This is true!!!
