Thanks for the informative video. I recently purchased an Oracle Touch. I found that there is a setting that allows you to program the amount of time that the machine stays on.
@@MarksElectricLife Hi again. I have received my Oracle Touch and I have some issues with it. The coffe tastes 🤢. I aimed for the 1.5-1.7 ratio as I use dark rosted coffe beans. But it is not possible with 20-30sec brew time. Even when I set the grind level at 18 the coffe starts dripping allready after 3 sec (should be 8-12sec) and at 20sec brew time it is allready up to more than 2.0 ratio. The puck are also very vet. I think there is something wrong with the pressure settings in my machine...it should not start to drip coffe after only 3 sec with the fine 18 grind setting and the puck should not be so wet right? Have You experienced such things? (Sorry to bother You with this)
@@adamszilardszabady8079 Hi Adam, sorry to hear about your extraction problem. My first thought is the grind is too coarse or the dosing is not right. Is there a 5-6 mm rim showing above the puck after tamping? If there is more than that you may need to follow my instructions to adjust the tamping fan (other video). It’s very important to get the right shot volume over the 30s and this can be achieved by tightening the grind. Turn the grind adjustment knob clockwise to get it finer. If you get to the point where there is no more adjustment then you will need to follow the steps to adjust your burr grinder. Instructions should be in the manual but I think there are other videos on how to do this. If you are unsure, come back to me and I will make a new video on how to do it. Good luck ! Mark.
Thanks for your very quick response this morning Mark! Just had a thought about extra large cups fitting under the group head-you can remove the drip tray to fit them under on an easier angle- the wheel lock knob does get in the way still but it does give a little extra space! Another great video again thank you Dale, Traralgon
We have been using an Oracle Touch daily for 2 years and love it, I use it for making a Capuchino for my wife and an Americano for me. My only issue so far is aesthetic, we have hard water and it goes through a water softener using salt. I noticed a few months ago that the water inlet cover at the top was stating to blister and flake off. I suspect this is a dissimilar metal issue with the cover and the spring. I have contacted Breville and was told it was not part of the warranty but they would sent me another cover. To add to your video, the machine will tell you when it need descaling, which is for us every 6 months.
Hi Mark, I have the same machine for one month. Your videos have been very helpful. For future reference…can you send me the info to ordering the Woden handle for the the machine?
Thanks Bob! You can adjust the brew temperature in the "Settings" menu. Push the cog in the top right corner and then scroll to Brew Temperature. I have mine set to 93 degrees celcius. If that doesn't work then you may have a faulty PID unit. Hopefully you are still under warranty.
I just got the machine. Thanks for the informative videos. I do have a question / concern. When I take out the water tank I get some water drips from the machine itself where the water tank connects to. Do you have the same issue?
@Mark B. Great Video! Do you wish you had a more manual machine to tweak stuff now that you have more experience? Something Like the Breville Dual Broiler and then add on a grinder.
Thanks David! At another time in my life I was a total geek and used to grow, roast and grind my own beans. But life is short and I would rather spend the time on more meaningful activities like hanging out with my friends and family. Tweaking to get the perfect cup becomes a law of diminishing returns and you can go crazy trying to detect the subtle difference in taste. The perfect cup of coffee is the one you didn't stress over making. It's why cafes are popular 😉
@@MarksElectricLife you do a wonderful job explaining the machine :) This machine is right up there for me. I would be moving from a Nespresso. I want better coffee and this machine looks like it keeps things very simple still
@@davidgonzales82 Thanks again David! I had a Nespresso machine and it mostly collected dust, because the quality wasn't good enough to prevent me straying to the cafe, for a "real coffee". You need two things to make a "real coffee". - 1. A group head espresso system for robust flavour, and 2. A steam wand that can produce real microfoam (if you take milk in your coffee). My Nespresso made thin tasting shots with shaving foam on top of them. The Oracle delivers 1. and 2. but in a way that doesn't require you to have barista skills to operate it, like a commercial machine would.
@@MarksElectricLife Exactly! I’m not technically strict with my coffee workflow and taste. Easy, lazy, and fun are my theme on making a latte every day. I have the same machine (Breville the Oracle Touch) for 1.5 years and loving it still! Thank you Mark for this thoughtful video. Really appreciate your time lines in description!
Hi Karen, yes it does. You need to enter Service Mode to view this. To get to Service Mode on an older model you just need to push and hold the Power button for a few seconds (start with power on). On newer machines, start with power off, hold the power button in and turn the wall outlet on, whilst holding the button in. The password is 55555 Once in SM you can select Cycle Counter from the menu to see how many drinks have been made. Regards, Mark.
Thanks we have a spot built for a Rocket Giotto we had. That machine was unreliable and we didn’t like the mess. It looks like the Breville Oracle fit. We had had two Breville Nespresso machine since then and both were way more reliable than that damn Giotto. I probably won’t buy another Italian coffee machine again. We started CoffeeSnobs Australia before we sold it to Andy who took it places we never would have.
@@PubRunner I can highly recommend the Breville. Coffee Snobs is a good site. I used to buy green beans there back when I was roasting. Too lazy these days 😉
@@MarksElectricLife yeah we went ultra lazy with the Creatista and then the pro version. For what they are they are great and you still get coffees better than instant and better than most cafes.
Hi Mark, Your videos are by far the best ones on the Oracle Touch out there. This is the machine that I really wanted, but my kids supprised me with the Barista Touch for Christmas. I am struggling to get a good shot. I had a 2 week period where I was getting great shots. I felt like I was drinking a dessert. I also tried pulling a longer shot. I don’t know what I am doing wrong! So frustrating! Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

Finished up returning it and they replaced it. No probs. They said it was “probably a sensor issue” the new one works fine.
