Excellent! I use them together all the time. Generally because I forget which pen has what ink in it 😅when out and about. Sometimes I simply want a majority blk/whi/grey sketch with maybe a dab of color.
Black inks tend to work like a Neutral with watercolors, makes them darker and more pronounced. Some have blue undertones so, yeah, a yellow may turn greenish.

This is one of my favourite techniques. It makes me work more loosely and boldly. It's kind of scary/exciting too 😃

Another way to do it is draw with permanent ink and add a few lines or drops where you want the shadows and in this way it’s more controlled and doesn’t create a ‘grey soup’.
A little goes a long way with the water soluble ink.

Ahhh.. serendipity! Some of the best art comes from happy accidents! The combination of water soluble ink and watercolours in this piece is masterful. I love your pen work, and the composition of the drawing is brilliant. Also the contrast between the crisp outlines of the buidings and the looser style of the trees. Very intrigued by your spattering technique! I have never used a dip pen and I must say I love the whole effect. Off to watch some of your other videos!

Great video such that I like you were experimenting on a new technique to you but it was live for us to see. Really great drawing / painting at the end, with effects so simply achieved. Ironically I watched your video because I discovered by accident last night that I had drawn with water soluble ink and then added water colour but I was really pleased with the result and will certainly use it again with more practise.

Love seeing you use a dip pen with the ink. I am using the same dip pen for the last 65 years (new nibs of course!). I inadvertently used a fugitive ink for an ink drawing a few months back and was actually pleased with the result. After seeing your video, I believe I will try some water soluble ink more deliberately. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Martin. That ink you are using is for brush calligraphy, but Asians use it widely as a painting medium as well. Cave paintings were done the same way. (burnt charcoal and water) This technique calls for some preplanning for using the permanent and soluble ink in order to keep the certain lines clean.

      💥 Extremely Interesting tutorial !
I think I’d be good at it. The trick is to lift areas that have accumulated too much water.
      - I Can’t wait to try this combination. (It has a very specific look.) I don’t know how to explain the “look” yet, but I really like it.

The dance of how much water, and it’s placement is key❗️
