Thanks for deciding to leave most of the outbuildings as they are with the plants etc as they are. It's good you moved in in the Summer. Im very pleased with you for your narrative on the Rath (fairy fort) Go raibh maith agaibh agus good luck
Thank you. We'd like to find out more about the fort and archaeology. We have contacted National Monuments about it to see what our responsibilities are.
Best of luck to you both....you have found a real jem and I'm sure you will transform this beautiful land into a wonderful wildlife haven... Welcome to Ireland. It's wonderful to see the respect and vision you both have for the land and her surroundings..... looking forward to following your journey 🤗
I started watching your videos new to old so my comments will seem dated but I love this project you've started. The environment around the house is amazing. Love the Irish tradition of the fairy woods too. I'm in the US but I am half Irish and really enjoy Irish culture. Thanks for sharing.
Beware it's not just that it's considered bad luck to disturb a ringfort. It's illegal. They are protected by law and you can be fined for altering or damaging them.
Regards from Australia. Lovely approach and delightful footage of the wildlife. I have joyfully subscribed. Thanks for introducing me to ARK, will hunt out a copy. (I have a small suburban pollinator garden, and food forest). Are your cats going to remain indoor only to safeguard the birds, insects and small critters?
Thanks for a beautiful film Rob and Colette. It really helped me get a better sense of the space there, with some lovely images of the wildlife. 'We are the ARK' is next on my reading list. I'm looking forward to seeing how you go about restoring the hedgerows, though I'm guessing that project 's a little way off yet.
@@Expressionisto1 thanks, there's a few practical courses on hedgerow management that we'll look into. We've contacted a forester and are hoping for a reply soon so we can start tree planting.

Deep and dense with wildlife and defining trhe margins until way back into prehistory.
@@Expressionisto1our borders have been left so long blackthorn, ash and sycamores are growing through them. That wartime video was fascinating, very intricate skills. I'd like ours to be thicker, with berry bushes and habitat for creatures.
So far €15000 getting the electrics reconnected and rewired. A bit more getting internal doors (because of the animals) and water connected. That's pretty much our entire budget spent until I bring in a few €s from earnings 😊
I honour what you are doing in preserving nature ❤
Thank you, it's what motivated us to come here 😊

Thank you, yes there's a real richness when you explore the language, mythology and the environment ☘
Love the vlog
@@bridgetryan6936 thank you! We're hoping to post another video today 🙂

No plans to touch it 🙂 we've contacted National Monuments Service to ensure we keep to our responsibilities managing it.
The Fairy folk will be watching over you due to the respect that you have given to their home and the land I believe and greet you with luck
ARK 💖 Subscribed. Thank you for sharing! I've been following Bealtaine Cottage for many years and her approach may be similar. Respect & Protect.
Thank you, yes we follow Bealtaine Cottage too and bought one of Colette's books - the channel was one of many that inspired us to move to Ireland 😊
Where will you grow your No Dig gardens. Great to maintain the natural areas.
We have 10 acres of field that is managed meadow. We have started growing in one of the fields, long term we'll also reforest much of that land too
Beautiful! Welcome to the ARK movement ❤
Thank you 💚

Thank you. Yes, plan on building an outdoor enclosure for the cats soon, at the moment they're indoor cats.
Amazing commitment and care to take on such a project! 👏💪 Fáilte go hÉirinn - welcome to Ireland!

How much land do you have?
10 acres 😊
Wow,that's good
Just curios. Did you not bring any of the stuff you had before???
Most of the furniture and large items we sold, as we had to put our stuff long term storage.
How much did you spend on house?
