Chevithorne Barton; darling buds of May

- In 1911 Ludo and May Heathcoat Amory, the current owners great grandparents, married and moved into the house at Chevithorne Barton in Devon, with the garden very much part of their future plans. Within four years Ludo was dead on the Somme and, when she lost all three sons in the second World War, May poured her passion into the garden creating a plantswoman's paradise. Woodland walks carpeted with bluebells, orchards, rock gardens and cascades, herbaceous borders, a lake and stunning views over the Devon countryside would be special enough. But May's legacy continued with her grandson, Michael, who dedicated himself to creating a National Collection of Oaks.

Absolutely spectacular property and gardens, thank you so much for sharing it! Half way through the narration I felt like I am listening to the great Alan Rickman, R.I.P., such a soothing voice.

My FAVORITE!!! The beauty of the garden waking up in spring is stunning in such a peaceful way, your great grandmother and father (plus the helpers McDonald and Black👍) have all created a heaven on earth. Thank you so much for sharing and PLEASE do another video this summer 🙏, I’m so curious about that vegetable garden (so perfectly straight) and the beautiful plantings everywhere🌿👏👏👏❤️!!! Adorable dog too!
Very peaceful and beautiful.
How lovely that you are bringing up 3 boys in your great grandmothers garden once again. If you see this message I would love to learn if the property passed to a daughter of Ludo and May, or were there more boys to inherit? However it has come to be in your care, this property and home is very lucky to have a family stewardship for so many years. Cheers
It says in the description that she lost all three of her sons; I take that to mean there was at least one daughter left to inherit, or perhaps it went to a niece or nephew if all she had were those sons? Odd to ask a such a personal question, especially on such a sensitive subject.
Beautiful garden and walk. Thanks so much for sharing. I have enjoyed visiting from over here in Melbourne Australia.
Paradise
Wow ! 💜
What is the tree on 00:53???
Đẹp quá
Great house and garden. Although I am wondering how they got Alan Rickman to posthumously narrate the video.
