Thank you, yes we based our house hunting on land first then worried about the house! 😆 We feel blessed to be custodians of this place - the land, the views and to have a ring fort on our site.
I m in (from the comfort of my sofa!). Really impressed with your commitment to your dream and your honesty about how hard it is at times. Wishing you both and a chilled happy Horace and the cats very well. Look forward to seeing how things progress ❤
Carving board, stainless steel, not silver, not valuable, but useful, can be used for holding non meat items too, though primarily for meat items. My mam used it to hold a frozen loaf of bread (unsliced) to slice it, to get slices to toast rather than waiting for the bread to defrost. Sliced with a moulineax electric carving knife
You can speak Irish pretty well,I was impressed with your pronunciation. The old text isn't that hard to read once you get used to it,but the spelling of words is usually different, because they were written before spelling reforms,or because they use dialect spelling. The Maths book at 4:12 is talking about square roots An phréamh chearnach, often spelled fréamh chearnach
Thanks, I muddle through. I take weekly lessons to learn the Cois Farraige dialect and find Irish reading easier than listening. I found an old copy of "Gaoth na Cuimhne" when we were looking through the old possessions, so will give that a read soon.
@@donalmccormaic8285we found some more books in that room as Gaeilge - I only started learning a couple of years ago. My mum learned at school and used to give instructions in Irish at home - Dún an doras! Dún do bhéal! etc 😊
Thank you. I must have inherited something from my mother, she learned Irish at school and spoke phrases at home. I started learning a few years ago and take lessons each week 🙂🇮🇪
😃 Are you intending to plant fruit for sale , both locally and in farmer's market's , as fruit sale's are such a great cash crop! Also sell egg's from both hen's and khakie Campbell duck's too ( the khakie Campbell duck's are great egg layer's ). Grow veg for your own use with most of the fruit and egg's sold to gradually build up enough money to get your cottage really nice! 🤔☺️ Best wishes from Michael McCall.
Thank you, yes we're definately going to grow our own food - started on the veg (on a very small scale!), a few berry bushes planted and we're looking into a grant to plant native trees, that will include fruit trees. We plan on keeping chickens and maybe ducks too, we're looking into making a pond as we have the space for it. We're a bit one-foot-off-the-grid, I've gone for the conventional office job to finance things while Colette manages the land. We're looking into being as self sufficient as we can with food and energy 🤓
Hello! The land is quite beautiful and that is where the value is! I wish you the best in renovations!

How much land do you own?
I would put a shelf up to display some the previous owners treasures as a little history lesson for future generations . 😊
We are keeping a few items that we like, it's good to have that continuity 🙂

Thanks for watching, it's been very chilled this week and the sun has been shining 🌞
Can’t wait to see what you do with the place! Making new memory! ❤
We're looking forward to the day when it's current state is a mere memory! 😅
The whistle can't be any worse than the one that went down the toilet 🤣
This one's probably cleaner! 😂
Really looking forward to seeing how you guys progress with your madcap adventure. Good luck.
Cheers, we can put a bed in that room if you want to crash over 😂
Wow interesting what folks leave behind! Can't wait for the next video 😍
Cheers! Next video coming soon! 😊

Looks like a treasure trove
Still looking for the gold 😁👍
Hi how are ye? The tin whistle I'd guess is from the 70s.
Love seeing the journey ☺️
@@lisaking5116 thank you! 🙂
The tray with the spikes is for roasted meat.
We definitely won't be keeping it then 😄
I was bought a Stainless Steel one as a wedding present just like that one, 54 yrs. ago. I’ve no idea where it is now.😊
💚🥰❤️
I would be wearing gloves and a mask! Rodent droppings.
We found some mouse poo when we moved in, but I think they've moved on since we came in... they must have spotted our cats 😼
Uidhmríocht or however it's spelled means numeracy, school numeracy, yes a maths book as Gaeilge
an phréamh chearnach = the square root.
Ceisteanna = questions. Lots of exercises there if you get bored renovating the baile

The tray in plastic package is for cutting cooked meat. The little spikes keeps the meat from moving around as you cut it.
Do you know who lived in the house and What happened to them?
We don't know a lot about the previous owners, all we know is the place has been empty for around 30 years.
