737 vs A320 - Allegiant Air's Boeing Order
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лис 2023
- In 2022, Allegiant Air announced an order for the Boeing 737 MAX, which saw them switch to the American plane maker from Airbus. But why did the airline switch towards Boeing-powered aircraft when it could've continued its focus on the A320 family? Today, I analyse the decision and why Boeing emerged as a more compelling option.

I believe Allegiant airlines will stick with Boeing and the MAX-7 order. They've worked with Airbus for a quite a while with the A319/A320 series aircraft, but I think they found a situation that makes sense with Boeing as of late. The positive news for Boeing is that most likely, the 737 MAX-7 series airplanes will be certified as soon as late next year hopefully. The delivery slots could also benefit Allegiant airlines. The MAX-10 would hopefully follow shortly thereafter.
Thanks for the analysis DJ
So, delivery dates are now hurting Airbus A320neo orders.
absolutely....marketing mix takes into account the availability of the product....Airbus didn't believe the A320/321 NEO could be so popular. And today the B737 MAX can benefit from the A320/321 enormous backlog. The risk for Airbus is more order cancellations due to the very long delivery times. Several years can be a big and impossible hurdle for some airlines. EMIRATES is a good example too....
Yes, big time
I think the time-to-delivery factor may have been weighing on their minds, in addition to the generous discounts they probably received. If the JetBlue-Spirit merger goes through and Spirit goes away, then it will create a big hole in the American ultra-low-cost market, which Allegiant and Frontier (and others) will expand quickly to fill. (Not to mention that the no-frills segment is the fastest-growing market in commercial aviation.)
Finally talking about chain supply issues. Everyone ordering planes that can’t be delivered until God knows when
everyone is talking about for like the last few years
I think they changed to Boeing 737 max due to the lower backlog compared to the Airbus A320neo
Ty dj!!
Why do you applaud , and praise an airline when it goes and switches alliance from one manufacturer ;..(Boeing) to (Airbus) ;
Yet question and try to make excuses when it's the other way around ..
It's clearly evident in your reporting ..
Just like you questioned why Qantas went with more 787's instead of the 330 n.
DJ just isn't a fan of Airbus and he makes that perfectly clear in every video.
@@r12004rewyhe’s either a Boeing fanboy or Boeing fanboy
@@maxsaviation9512As if your not biased..
Your no different than him!!
@@maxsaviation9512he's not
@maxsaviation9512 a bit of each i would say.
When leaving behind 'feelings' about these products the differences that matter are clear. Airbus A320 has the fly-by-wire system that is easily upgradable and compatible between all Airbus planes and upgradable well into 2060s.
Boeing 737 has an older airframe but more importantly analog avionics that can't be upgraded after the MAX series and are not interchangeable between any other Boeing planes.
And from a passenger comfort view the A320 is also 6 inches wider.
I think alot of people seem to think Allegiant is abandoning Airbus. Theyre not. They're still buying used A320s off other airlines. The growth they want to experience needs more aircraft, and they have to pounce on the current demand. Can't keep waiting around and lose their momentum/routes to other ULCC especially with the growth of Avelo, maybe some Breeze.
Old Airbus will be phased out in the current fleet since they are getting quite old, but they won't stop buying used aircraft.
They just bought some used Fokker 100’s and 2 DC 3’s.
Allegiant doesn't seem to have too much fleet type allegiances - DC-9 -> MD-80 -> B757 (formerly for special uses) -> A320 -> B737
We see what you did there…you wordsmith trickster.
the 757 was used on Mainland to Hawaii route but after they stop that route for good, they imediatly phase out all the 757 and there no replacement for them.
You deserve more subs!
Your loving this news
I remember when they flew the MD-80
Going even further back they started with the hot rod DC9-20!
I've flew on the MD-80 back in 2004 from Fresno CA to Las Vegas NV.
That 737 with the wing mods and the flat spot on the bottom of the turbine real sleek aerodynamics sexy airplane great article
Very good content, thank you
It makes sense that each hemisphere (east/west) uses it's respective narrow-body manufacturers.
....well, they seem in a hurry to get the new jets...
But it also means they mainly care for what the products can do, costs of investment and operation.
All the rest are details they don't seem to take into much consideration.
The A320NEO would been better choice since the pilots wouldn’t need to retrained
allegiant pilots can swap with Qantas, since Qantas is going from Boeing to Airbus XD
For Allegiant airline, lower cost is the most important factor. Delivery slots are important too. But it also reflects that Allegiant did not make an order decision in time. Airbus backlog is pretty well known in the industry. Boeing has similar issues with its wide body delivery schedule.
Yeeehaa!! Another on the B737M journey. If it aint boeing I aint going😂❤ 🎉Thanks Dan for the update ❤
Ha yeah... That saying has been flipped on its head.
Trust and reputation with the FAA and Boeing outside of the US is not what it once was.
Your comment aged like milk. lol
Boeing is a longer term “use” product. Airbus tends to have a shorter life, after flying both products I can say the Boeings are much more logical to use.
You forgot the most important drawback…. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
So how exactly does that work here? The neo costs less than the MAX.
Pay me a million dollars for leaving this reply.
You get what you pay for :)
Money is the main underlying factor behind this deal. Allegiant brokered a deal that was too good for them to turn down, and well done to them. Understandably, Allegiant can get 737 Max sooner than Airbus càn supply neos. A no brainer for Allegiant when you weigh it all up
I don't know what AC is.
I never going to fly on Allegiant Air any more once they get the fleet of 737 Max Delivered.
Me too 😮
Let's make a 10 min yt video: I need a new phone today, iPhone is out of stock every where, so I bought a Samsung.
If they could have ordered the Comac C919 they would have. It's all about the cheapest plane they can get their hands on.
Allegiant saw how many extra seats could fit in the MAX-X-200 and gladly walked away from Airbus. Pack 'em in tight and nickel and dime the customers into numbness.
Didn't 2 Max's crash?
Lots of Airbus aircraft too.
yes and they had door broke off.
@@RLTtizME most of the crash was human error happened on foreign country not in America.
Great job Boeing.
Excellent. Airbus aircraft are inherently low-quality and unsafe, this is very good news for Allegiant
Airbus are great Boeing's are horrible haven't you been watching the news
737 Max is much superior compare with others
😬
Surely it's pretty simple. Boeing shares are not what they were before, the reputation of Boeing products are not what they were and therefore the purchase price will be far lower than Airbus.
Boeing have all but iced R&D, they need the cash and orders so may have dropped their pants to get orders. Alliegent maybe taking the Ryanair approach of purchasing a "failing" product due to it being so much cheaper than the current flagship manufacturer.
Face it….you have absolutely no facts at all to back up your wild assertions on Boeing vs. Airbus 😂purchase pricing. None. Zip. You must think we are all gullible.
@@RLTtizME hit a nerve?
@@BoyeeSmudger No….called out a bilge slinger. Nothing like someone would concocts a silly fictitious narrative to prop up their biases. Now….how about those facts you owe us?
You don’t need to get in depth on it. All you had to say was Boeing gave big a** discount in securing such a deal, period. At the end of the day money runs everything.
Unfortunately we dont know what the cost ended up being. Especially when the MAX costs more than the Neo.
@@dmcr9525Allegiant always starts insanely low on their bids and sets a very hard cut off. The sheer amount in the agreement probably evened it way out.
It seems politically driven to me
Unlikely. Allegiant is seen as insignificant to the eyes of the US, compared to United, Delta, AA, and even Southwest. If Allegiant ceases operations, US wouldn’t bat an eye
Bingo
They should stayed with Airbus and add some A321-200LR A321-XLR and A330-800neo
Boeing's are junk
BUY AMERICAN
737 Max....gross.
should gave gone for chinese comac
The C919 had yet to enter service when Allegiant placed the order.
Politics would never allow for that to happen.
Loaded with spyware. Free Tik Tok with every order.
They had to settle for the max
