thanks for the in depth teardown. I'd been struggling to find all those hidden screws. I figured out what the problem was with the scroll wheel. It's optical. Optical! I'd been cleaning out the hair and grime through the top with an x-acto knife because that's the only thing that would fit, and it had scratched up the clear side the little sensor was on. No wonder.
Thanks, this helped me resurrect my mouse. The plastic windows on the side of the wheel got dirty, and scrolling was no longer possible. Cleaned them with microfiber cloth + water & alcohol on a q-tip. Also cleaned both the emitter and the sensor. Wheel is now working again. Too bad I didn't find your video before buying a replacement.
I did this repair with the lightspeed and the new wheel (looks the same as yours) doesn't quite fit. I had to cut off the plastic ears on the replacement wheel. By that i mean the part that goes up above the axle. It was hitting the case of my mouse and constantly pressing the mouse wheel.
I had 5 screws left over, but mouse works now 10/10. I hope whatever engineer designed this mouse has to figure out how to change the mouse wheel. Having to keep M1/M2 aligned while screwing in is....awful.
I cleaned my G502 and now the bottom of it, a small part of it is basically rubbing against my desk and it makes some noise and it is not smooth. How do I fix it? The part that is rubbing against the desk is the small black triangle at the upper-middle part of the mouse, above the hexagon.
@GH0STY-G0DZ does it work while plugged in? If so battery might be dead. They use lil pucks for batteries so mabye purchase from amazon, if not mabye che k warranty status. Good luck!
I got it from Ebay, "G502 Scroll Wheel". There's alot of options but I got from seller zi896_7, but all wheels for g502 seem to fit other like wired and lightspeed versions. Good luck replacing yours!
do you know how one might restore it so it doesnt double click and just stops holding mouse 1? it is really fucking annoying to drag a window and is just stops and double clicks and shit, i have tried to blow compressed air under it to try and blow out dust but nothing...

Wow.. My power cable absolutely would not come out and I severed the tiny wires.. Now I have to find that connector piece, smh.
I’ll sell you mine for the low mouse wheel works but the left and right keybinds on the scroll wheel are super loose

@malwareshop most likely the adhesive didn't come off cleanly, I'd recommend buying new Skate pads. Happened to me too
@@S7Vision I did not remove the adhesive. It's starting to become more smoother the more I move it around.
What screwdriver did you use to open the mouse?
@@Saidcop an iFixit tool kit, it includes a metal screwdriver. It's really nice if u work on electronics alot
My mouse just randomly stopped working was fully charged and it doesn’t charge or run on I have the same mouse as you any fix

Can I switch the plastic scroll wheel in the G502 lightspeed with the metal scroll wheel from a regular wired g502?
Sorry can't say for sure, looking up parts they may be different as some specified models of the 502, gl replacing!
@@S7Vision I was just curious. Imagine my disgust that they replaced the metal scrollwheel for plastic on the wireless
where can i buy the scroll?

It's possible the switch for the m1 button is out, haven't swapped out myself buy I believe it's similar to the mouse wheel. Hopefully not too much!
