I live in California and I am on the Board of a nonprofit. This happened to our organization. It was the pandemic, we had turnover, volunteers handling things, etc etc. The State sent letters, and we did not respond. So we had a lot of paperwork to do, plus fees and fines.
We are a shoestring operation, with a very small budget. But how does this happen in a miulti-million dollar operation, with highly paid staff? Archewell has had a precipitous drop in donations, and this will bring them the rest of the way to zero.

I wonder if he has charity and is misusing it. The attorney general who sent the letter is running for the seat of governor of California in 2026. Did the governor through the californio people receive illegal money and he’s afraid to be investigated.
I live in California, and I contacted Governor Newsom Monday. I asked him why he was disrespecting his Attorney General in such a public way. A charity does not go into delinquency unless they have gotten two or three warning letters. So this was not a "clerical error," or a check lost in m the mail. Then I find out that the Attorney General will be Newsom's opponent in the next election. Now it all makes sense. So corrupt!

In all fairness, the “delinquency” of Archewell was much ado about nothing. It was a trivial statutory filing that was late. It happens. However, the fact that the Governor of California had to do a press conference on it makes it ridiculous. I am waiting for the governor to now do press conferences for all the other foundations/charities/companies that had late filings. More importantly, I am still waiting for the judge’s ruling on Harry’s visa application and the IRS review of Archewell which should be done.
It isn't all about nothing... they were to stop doing business the beginning of May and they didn't. The late pmt of the fee is one thing, noncompliance with the directive is another.

You have Archewell which should also have made a declaration regarding PEP’s (politically exposed persons)….do they know, are the related to, do they have dealings with a PEP. I would suppose Has-been is a PEP but certainly any friendship or dealings with a PEP (Newsome/Obama/Biden???) makes Archewell subject to an even stricter review and observation by all compliance people because of their PEP connections which any shady practices, decisions due to these connections could possibly occur or try to be covered up, not that this is the case, but the potential is always there. So a lack in one fulfilling one legal requirement could be symptomatic of an overall bigger issue.
