PAL ARENA | We Hatch RANDOM EGGS and THEN WE FIGHT

The Palindome Prize is a competition to see who can get to 7 wins first to be crowned the first ever Palindome Prince or Princess!
Each week we get random Pals and fight at the NEW PAL ARENA in the Sakurajima update.
This week we choose 5 eggs Battleship style and then choose which 3 to take to the Pal Arena and battle.

3:43 you say E4, he takes D4... sneaky, ended up being a Chillet he didn't use. Had he pulled E4 it was a Damp egg which could have given him the advantage to all your fire.
This round Donk was the "King of Chonk": 2 Mam Cryst and a Kigpaka Cryst. Went with the Offensive Lineman strategy: nothing like throwing more meat at the problem.
You were off to a hot streak until you miss-clicked that Ribunny. Dropping you a Seed Mine skill fruit was a bad call on Donk, AOE damage that once you get the Ivy Cling acts as a super-effective Fire damage. Seed Mine + Flare Storm are a killer combo you can put on any pal.
Honestly given the result Ribunny was a solid addition. I don't know if it just kept at range or if it was surprisingly tanky with the neutral typing but it held on.
How did you like the new format? seemed pretty fair save both pulling all the same type in the beginning. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, which is a good thing.
Edit: I liked the add of the 3x Large manuals. being ~30 gives a bit of a stat spread and a full set of moves to play with. its a good balance point.

We really enjoyed this episode, next Friday's is a really fun one.
Filmed it yesterday. It's a Sakurajima episode where ALL the eggs were gathered on the new island. That didn't guarantee they'd be new pals, but it helped!

@@AzaleahGames I just checked the list for the Sakura eggs and its a pretty solid list. most of the old pals are in at 5% and the new pals are in at 1% overall, but there are enough new pals that it should be about a 20% chance to pull one. Each egg has about 3 options save a couple like water which is just the frog. outside of that the rest of the list is all stuff you find on the island (beakon, menasting, bushi, petalia, verdash etc).
It looks like they built the list on the idea that people had already farmed the Volcano and the Ice mountain pre-patch so they don't have a ton of Fire or Ice; the new island doesn't even spawn frozen eggs. For this arena I think collecting eggs from all 3 will round out the list of possible pals and give a bit more variability.

@bobnewkirk7003 I still have over 200 eggs that have been gathered from everywhere on the map, that's what we usually use. For the sakurajima episode, I just gathered all new eggs for the challenge.
We're trying to decide a way to make doing element specific episodes fun. Especially since we have so many fire and ice eggs.

@@AzaleahGames for sure, just figured I'd go through the list while I drank my coffee this morning and see what sort of stuff you could pull. I just discovered that the new island doesn't even spawn frozen eggs so I was thinking of a way to bring them back in, but if you have a backlog farming new Sakura eggs rounds out your list in a good way.

I know you guys are not intervening in battle but I wish partner skills were allowed because it would make choosing your main pal more valuable. But ibalso understand its harder to balance that way.

@donniebirb I'm afraid if we did, then it would be over in a minute and not really a fight at all.
Choosing the main pal matters because they match specifically against the other main pal. And any partner skills they have that don't require us to ride them is still active (as far as I know, I may do a couple battles to science it out) because not all pals need riding to use their skills. The pal arena works differently than any pvp I've played so I'll do a little more investigating to see what options we have.
There will be different ways we choose to battle in upcoming episodes, so I'm happy to look at all ideas of ways to do different episodes.

@donniebirb After checking, we can't ride the pals or use them in the battle in any way.
You can't interact to pick up pals, and there are no drops in the arena so those partner skills are useless as well.
There is a possibility that partner skills that affect damage might work, but I'm unfortunately not the kind of person to try to math that out without getting a migraine 😆
All we are able to do if we battle is use our weapons.
