This is way too cute .....this gives me the idea to crochet a keycain pouch for one of my mini palettes since ive been making crocheted cases to protect my palettes and havent made one for a mini palette yet. 💡
This was such a delight to watch! The pallets are both adorable. Here in New Zealand, we don't really have access to these fun things without paying far more shipping than they are worth-so I love living vicariously through you!
I bought this for myself as a birthday gift. It came today. I scraped out the paint (it came out easily) and refilled with my colors. It IS very well constructed, and TOO cute. I used some white duct tape for the mixing well. I had so much fun deciding what to put in there! Thanks so much for finding this for us!
Hamsa Yellow Light, New Gamboge, Quin Rose, Pyrol Scarlet, Pthalo Blue (GS), French Ultramarine, Yellow Ochre, Green Appetite Genuine (New to me. We’ll see...) and Paynes Blue Gray. I can’t wait for it to dry and give it a go!
Thank you for your lovely review, Lindsay! We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on our Funto Pocket Watercolor Set. It's wonderful to hear that you find it convenient and portable. Your suggestion about more color options is a great one, and we'll definitely take it into consideration for future product development. Keep creating beautiful art!
I❤ the bag. It would suit the micro portable palette, it seems. This is such a good size. I like the idea of a carabiner and a ring to hang it on a bag. These are yet to arrive in 🇩🇪. The colours, even if not great quality, would do great for bullet, art journaling or quick abstract watercolour cards. Would you consider a video with the yearly harvest of travel palettes? That wiuld be fun to watch!
I bought this about a month ago! I really like it. I thought it didn't include paints, and was surprised it included the paints! I made little pieces of paper the size of the swatch card!
Good idea! I thought about making a sketchbook that size (but I have almost as many sketchbooks as I do palettes so I need to finish a few more first 😆)
Want Monster cracks one eye open as it is disturbed from its slumber. A travel palette with a holster you say..... (Want Monster finds out that said palette with holster costs almost $60 in Australia, and so falls back into a fitful sleep, having added it to The Wishlist).
The palette is very adorable and I feel tempted. My favourite moment was the one where you just put it apart and made it work for you. I love this! Make it work for you. :)
Hullo Lindsay, I have gotten myself in trouble with cute palettes and putting my own tube paints into them! You gave me a 70’s flashback to color selections of harvest gold, burnt orange, avocado greens! My most favorite travel watercolor palette is the Portable Painter! I am so impressed that they are still improving it too! I have several tubes of DaVinci’s 37ml colors so filling extra palettes is super easy and quite affordable as well! I recently purchased several of the Meeden porcelain palettes, the ONLY problem with those is the breakage factor! I am a “dropper” so anyone going that route just think on that! I am enjoying watching this cute palette review!
Thank you for the review! You might try wall poster tack (Blu-Tack) to keep the pans in place. I use it in palettes when I don’t want the pans to slide around.
I have to say your videos do temp me to get all the goodies, but whenever I did buy stuff after your review I had awesome time with it. I just love your reviews. Having reviews like yours is truly helpful, I learned so much from your videos and although I love to joke that youtube makes me overconsume, I love that I get to see all the new and fun supplies and try them. The whole process is fun, learning about supplies, hunting for them to buy them, and then having to experiment with them and enjoying them repeadetly.
The design is really nice. I like the way the palette sections flip out. It even comes with a swatch card. Funny you posted this video, I had literally just seen a fancy metal palette with a water cup and big clip for $69 on a facebook ad before seeing your video. But never buy anything from a facebook ad. Those can be phony sites. I know from experience.
It's very cute but too small for me. I got the little black palette and filled it with my favorite paint colors. It works great! Thanks for showing us so many choices.
Thank you for this tutorial. I struggle with painting glass and this tutorial was most helpful. I also struggle with water reflections in regard to painting along the shoreline. Thanks again!
lol I so want and yes read the disclaimer, can see me putting in my Qor paints or maybe a dedicated pallet with granulation paints, yep so need one of these! lol I am so easy thanks for sharing.
I love that you enable 😊. It's so much fun. Your reviews help with discernment, especially on the paint! That palette is up to $27.99 😂 It's so cute and worth it for the clip-on pouch. I won't be getting it but glad I saw it! Thx! 🎉
This was so fun to watch 😊 I loved seeing you transform it into something that works for you. It was also nice to see you pick the Meiliang 52 set as I got one for xmas thanks to watching your review ❤
This is just adorable!!! When I was a kid, we had a hard cover suitcase in that exact shade of green! Memories lol 🥹 Tfs Lindsay! This would make a great gift for my watercolor loving college student! Filled with nice paint ✨️
oh no!!!! im too susceptible to cute little watercolor palettes!!! the colors look chalky but oh my god. that cute pouch. the little green palette. i love it so much!!!
I still have my pretty excellent pallet from right after you reviewed it the first time so many years ago. They are the best for practice paint. It was a pretty excellent buy 😆
I love little plein air pallets too!!!💕they are always coming out with such cute ones! So hard to resist! You should design a palete! Think about it!😉👍🏼
LOL, you startled a laugh out of me by showing us your jeans. 🤣🤣🤣 this palette is adorable! Though I’m strangely relieved that the watercolor paints aren’t great quality. 😂😂😂 no temptation for me. Thank you for the review! The longer I look at the paints, the more they remind me of the IKEA Mala watercolors. I bought that set for the palette box too. I was surprised by how bright yet chalky they were. Sadly I wasn’t able to pry the paints out, so I had to soak them and yeah. It was a fool’s errand. XD But thankfully once the paint was wet enough, I was able to scrap it out.
This is really cute. Not for me though since I hardly go further than my back yard. But I can see how these cute adorable useful little sets could be a passion. Maybe someday.... HUGS
It reminds me of the paint in the wrist palettes you can get at Jerry's. I bought one for my son to use when hiking in the Rockies. Before I gave it to him, I replaced all the paints with Daniel Smith paints.
Those are both super cute and I want them both. I am buying way too many art supplies...and I don't yet have the skills to justify it, lol. Having fun though, and I guess there's nowhere to go but up lol.
I’d seen this, last week I think, saved it because my bestie talked about a tiny palette to take on her and hubbies daily walks. As cute as that first one is…I just don’t see $25. That second one though? Added to my cart and I think I’ll fill them up for her! Now, all I need to do is make a “cover” for her…I think it’s about 5x5 inch, Baohong sampler..18 “pages” of the different Baohong paper, connected at 1 edge. For $11-12, I have found SO many uses for these things! I put 3 together, stamped each page, both sides, with swatch stamps, and I made a cover with cardboard, fabric and tape…I have all professional paints swatched in there..and what I really like is I use the Baohong rough sheets specifically for granulating/separating paints. I have enough room below the stamps to do a small swatch I can lift, or like with some, that have particularly noted effects with salt. A few pages I hadn’t stamped yet and I used them for some of my most used mixes. Liz says I just need to make another “book” solely for mixes and dupes. 🤷🏼♀️
I have the same mini palette (different brand name) but it didn't come with that dinky little pouch. Mine is still perfect to pop in my purse or pocket, and was only $5! I love it ❤
That thing is adorable and useful! Too bad about the paints but I am sure we all have substitutes! tee hee. I still love the pallet you made from the plastic container you found.
LoL, how funny Lindsay 🤣😅😮. How many travel palettes do you have now (never mind), you happy, I'm happy. Take care young lady and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
I dont know if you know this but Derwent has come out with watercolors (not Inktense). Amazon has it. Their plastic pallet but 24 colors. I'm trying to tell myself I don't need it.😅
That's a tough one. I love derwent, both as a company and their products and I am afraid of being disappointed. They are student grade and I don't love their old watercolor pencils (inktense are awesome!) So I am hesitant to try them. I'm curious tho!
Hi Lindsay. I've been gone for about 6 mos & I'm just getting caught up on your videos & activities for the year. This is a totally off the wall question, but do you ever go fishing when you are out in your kayak? I mean catch & release, I know you don't eat the fish. I ask because I love to fish, and I love the idea of sitting by the lake painting while my bobber is waiting to catch something yummy. Sorry, I am a carnivor, but my daughter & her hubby raise our meat with care and concern for all of their animals. By-the-by, LOVE THIS PALETTE! Yes, I do think it is the cutest little kit. I love that it can hang from a carabiner on my fishing belt! Have a great summer! Sincerely, Teresa (Actually, the next time I go to the lake, I am going to be in it. We are melting out here in the stifling hot Kansas prairie & I dream of floating down a creek in Maine looking for something to paint.)
Nope, I never fish. I would imagine catch and release would be terrifying for the fish, and I wouldn't enjoy the chance at torturing and animal for sport. Plus, if it gets so tired out from the struggle, it might get eaten by another animal easily or injured. And the hook has to hurt them. I don't think fishing to sustain yourself is bad. Everyone has to eat, and wild animals have a better life than farmed ones. I don't want to cause unsessesary suffering.
I’ve been invited to give a “paint party” for some young teens, in September. I bought this as a gift for the birthday girl! Now, I just need to figure out how I’m going to do the party! 😂🎉
So funny, I got on,e of these last week, it should arrive today :D Mine is slitghtly different, it is red, with a gold logo on the front, I really wonder what the paint quality will be 😉 The set is really really cute, no regret whatsoever.
@@thefrugalcrafter My palette finally arrived :D The name is different (Mairtini "Brilliant Rays"), the pans look the same, but the colours feel much more pigemented, at least judging by hte initial swatch (the color selection is the same)
I love cute things and I am easily tempted. Sadly I only have 15$ till my next paycheck. 😆 my dog had to have emergency surgery. Worth it, love her old fuzzy butt.
Just a recommendation for your videos for those who need to use the Closed Caption accessibility feature, it makes it harder to read and see what you’re doing if everything you’re doing is taking up space all the way at the bottom of the screen where the words are. Giving yourself a bit more space at the bottom of your screen would be super helpful for those who have to use this feature. I have both a hard time hearing as well as have a difficult time processing what is said if I don’t read along with what is said especially in videos or instances where I can’t see the person’s face. So it makes it even harder to follow what you’re doing if I can’t see the words along with not being able to see what you’re actually doing. I know I can’t be the only one who struggles with these things, but it’s often an overlooked thing by those who don’t struggle with issues like these, so I figured I’d mention it as a tip to make it easily accessible for those who do.
Thank you for this review .I also love watching new art product reviews. I thought this palette might be good for my grand children but Amazon Australia has it listed at $61. Maybe you could advise a palette for an 8, 10 and 12 year old girls?
In Australia there is a company/store called Micador and they have beautiful products. Their cotton "rains" wayercolor paper and "royomac revolution" brushes are top quality and might be more affordable for you. I also Like their koh-i-noor micador watercolor disc paints. Very vibrant! I'd see if that shop has what you need. I think Amazon is expensive so I'd look on aliexpress to see if the same products are available. Paul rubens sells on aliexpress and their Meilang/pretty excellent paints are a fantastic choice for beginners. I hope that helps.
@@thefrugalcrafter Wow Lindsay just wow thank you so much you are amazing , your knowledge is incredible. Wishing you all the best from across the pond. Cheers Judy
Can you dissolve paints like this in water and use it for liquid watercolor for kids? I love the video & maybe when it cools off I will buy this to go out to the lake to paint. I am looking for cheap liquid watercolor for my grandkids, but was trying to decide if I should just make my own from junk paints I've accumulated.
I now have to sew my own version of that i have to many altoid tin pallets that need their own carring system😉i already have real leather from other projekts🌈🎨👩🏼🎨
PS. The deep square part could be used as a water container, if you choose not to use it as a mixing arra. The more I look at it, it reminds me of the micro portable painter. The little green bag is amazing, and a great addition to it
Lindsay, what is the sticker that you used to make the lid into a mixing surface? I have the pretty excellent set and my two concerns about it are pigment information and lightfast information. If you have a source for either of those it would be so helpful.
I use cheap watercolors to make watercolor collage sheets. I use the watercolor to paint watercolor textures on cheap printer paper or cardstock. Then I cut those papers for collage works and journal fodder.
What a neat little pallette ❤ what pallette did you use to replace the paints. I love all the pastels. I looked at your links, but there were no pastels😢
I once got a Party City $1 watercolor palette. With the plan to remove the dust bricks and replace with nice tube dots. Broke the plastic case during removal cause I dropped it 😂
Oh Lindsay? I do not have the micro mini portable painter palette, do you think it would fit into your new lux case? I thought you have one? Just wondering…..
It's pretty close in size. Let me check! Nope, the micro is too long. I love the classic portable painter but the micro missed the mark for me. I don't like fiddling with the lid and assembling it. The thumb peice us awkward and it's too chunky to fit in a pocket. Maybe I'll like it more some day but I love how easy this is to open and go, it's smaller but more practical for me.
The palette is definitely really cute, I’d buy it if they sold it without the paint and for a lower price. I’m too lazy to remove the existing paints 😂
I've had great control lately sooooo... thanks for the hook 😁. Also, I sent you an email regarding your pencil class before you went to France. I haven't heard back but I know you're busy.
I have been tempted to purchase this palette a few times. And just like you I wanted the palette and the case, not the paints. However, I have the mini portable palette so I think it is similar and more time tested. Does your mini portable palette fit in the case?
No, it's too long. I didn't like fiddling with the lid and flaps on the portable painter micro. I those is more practical to me but we are all different.
The cobalt blue is fine. Sky blue. I learned from your Michaels lesson sky and water should be different blues 😅. The purple is trash. I mean, good lightfast purples are rare, but pretty non-lightfast purples are easy to find. Is that Paynes grey or black there? Weak black or too-dark grey. 😂. The green also disappoints. Viridian or sap green would both be improvements. My limited palette kinda failed - yellow ochre, Prussian blue, and alizarin crimson make for too-muted paintings. Now I’m using a full 24 color spread - all Cotman except for black, which I feel is lightfast in every brand.
i ordered this yesterday 25 usd to practice painting more! but i thought it was without colors and ordered windsor n newton tubes for it lol! will remove these
I would totally buy this, but throw away the paint! 😂 So, I wonder if that paint could be taken out without damaging the palette! Editing to say: Yes u took the paint out! I commented at the beginning of the video... now I got to the part u r taking that yellow out.... now to keep watching 😂

So cute ! I want! So luckily not available on UK amazon, which has saved me from myself and the want monster 😂
😆
I’ve been invited to give a “paint party” for some young teens, in September. I bought this as a gift for the birthday girl! Now, I just need to figure out how I’m going to do the party! 😂🎉
That's a great idea! The Art Sherpa has some great easy acrylic paint party projects you could try!
@@thefrugalcrafter great idea! I’ll take a look!
Adorable 💕✌️
Thanks 😊
So funny, I got on,e of these last week, it should arrive today :D Mine is slitghtly different, it is red, with a gold logo on the front, I really wonder what the paint quality will be 😉 The set is really really cute, no regret whatsoever.
Lovely!
@@thefrugalcrafter My palette finally arrived :D The name is different (Mairtini "Brilliant Rays"), the pans look the same, but the colours feel much more pigemented, at least judging by hte initial swatch (the color selection is the same)
Where did you find the round corner panels of water color paper? I didnt see it on the amazon list.
These are the rounded corner postcards: amzn.to/3XrWXFb I don't really like them though. I prefer these and they come in a nice tin: amzn.to/45vH6Y9
Lindsay, thanks for being you and being so truthful 😊❤🎉!
I wish I was that flexible! Had to go back a few seconds because I thought, “wait, that’s not Lindsay’s leg, was it?” And it was! 😅
Haha. Yes!
I love cute things and I am easily tempted. Sadly I only have 15$ till my next paycheck.
😆 my dog had to have emergency surgery. Worth it, love her old fuzzy butt.
Aww, I'm glad she's ok:)
This popped up on my “for you” Amazon page today! Lol😂
Haha, that darn algorithm!
Noted. Thank you.
It's really cute. I'll pass on buying one right now, but it is a neat little pallet.
It is!
When I saw the palette I thought is cute but I like having a palette that holds 12-24 colors. Thanks for the video. I'll try the dominoes thing 😅
So cute! Amazon price is now $28 😲
Ugh
I've seen that palette sold by Mairtini also! In case you are interested 😊 I don't know if it has the little carry case though.
Interesting
Yes you can!
I had to get this! So cute! Price is now $27.99. FYI. ❤
Enjoy!
The little green bag is amazing, and a great addition to it
It's about the same size. I didn't like the micro as much, too much fiddling with the set up. I like this better.
You could also use inktense sticks or daniel smith stick pieces.
Yes! I only have 3 ds sticks, and I have an inktense palette already tho.
Lindsay, what is the sticker that you used to make the lid into a mixing surface? I have the pretty excellent set and my two concerns about it are pigment information and lightfast information. If you have a source for either of those it would be so helpful.
It's vinyl, like for making signs. The 52 set has pigment info. It might be on the amazn listing. It was on the card that came with my 52 set.
@@thefrugalcrafter thank you
It reminds me a bit of the Cotman field box. Cute though.
That's s good one too!
I use cheap watercolors to make watercolor collage sheets. I use the watercolor to paint watercolor textures on cheap printer paper or cardstock. Then I cut those papers for collage works and journal fodder.
Good idea to use it up!
I'm watching this on June 18 at 6am, and it's 27.99.
Yup, crazy
Oh dang, first 30 seconds and I am having to decide whether to go further
What did you decide?
What a neat little pallette ❤ what pallette did you use to replace the paints. I love all the pastels. I looked at your links, but there were no pastels😢
Here amzn.to/3xpLtHF
They still have some and they are on sale! They are upgrading this set to be in thicker pans but the old set is still available!
Oh thank you. How pretty! Ordering now lol
I once got a Party City $1 watercolor palette. With the plan to remove the dust bricks and replace with nice tube dots. Broke the plastic case during removal cause I dropped it 😂
Oh no!
Maybe I'll like it more some day but I love how easy this is to open and go, it's smaller but more practical for me.
when I saw you pop out the paints I did too! Put them in pans! Put the pans in an Altoid type tin and gave them to a 5 year old friend..
Good idea!
The palette is definitely really cute, I’d buy it if they sold it without the paint and for a lower price. I’m too lazy to remove the existing paints 😂
That would be nice! I hope they DONT come out with more colors, tho because I'd have to get them. Honestly. I need help 😆
I've had great control lately sooooo... thanks for the hook 😁. Also, I sent you an email regarding your pencil class before you went to France. I haven't heard back but I know you're busy.
Please resend, I thought I had caught up with everyone but maybe it accidently got deleted. So sorry!
@@thefrugalcrafter no worries! I'll resend!
Cute as it may be I already have enough palettes, but it's fun to watch nonetheless.
I totally agree!
The water will have the skies blue in it but it is also influenced by other factors like the sand and other stuff in the water.
This is tempting. Where did you get your vinyl from?
Scraps from a sign shop
i ordered this yesterday 25 usd to practice painting more! but i thought it was without colors and ordered windsor n newton tubes for it lol! will remove these
Hope you enjoy it!
I would totally buy this, but throw away the paint! 😂
So, I wonder if that paint could be taken out without damaging the palette!
Editing to say: Yes u took the paint out! I commented at the beginning of the video... now I got to the part u r taking that yellow out.... now to keep watching 😂
Yes you can! 😆
@@thefrugalcrafter 😅
Lindsey, i bought a similar seamiart palette for $3 only
Wow! Where did you get that price?
Lv mine!
