That was a yummy video! Smoked meat and bbq beans are a must together. Nice big servings too.
I need to cruz that way sometime. I never been to Wai Kai. Mahalo for show casing this place. 🤙🏼🤙🏼❣️❣️🫶🏻🫶🏻🥰🥰

Aloha urs!! It sure was yummy for sure. We were still drooling about it when we were editing the video. Definitely agree with you that smoked meat and BBQ beans are a must when eating BBQ in general. Hometown BBQ servings are hearty for sure. Wai Kai is really a great spot to visit when in the area. The market we went to (Ono Grindz and Makeke Market) happens every Thursday from 4p - 8pm and has a great view and relaxing vibes to enjoy with the delicious food!!

Hi Chris!! If you've had the chance to try Sunset Texas BBQ in Kako'ako and enjoyed it, you will also enjoy Hometown BBQ. They pop up at several spots on the island so definitely check out their Instagram to see where they'll be next and give them a try to enjoy the BBQ style we love here in Texas.

Aloha Michelle and Jose!! If anyone can review Texas food in Hawaii, it's you two!! Dang that BBQ looks really good🤙 and it's gotta be that good if the sauces aren't needed as much!:) And so close to 1K guys:):)

Aloha Sean!! BBQ can differ from region to region/state to state and but we can definitely say we're in our comfort zone when talking about Texas BBQ. If you've tried Sunset Texas BBQ in Kako'ako, you will definitely also love Hometown BBQ. Pitmaster Charles is definitely making us Texans proud. We literally forgot about the sauces until we were unpacking everything in the car to finish eating after the rain. Follow them on their IG bc they're frequent flyers at "What The Truck" too if you can't catch them at Wai Kai. Yes we are very excited to be nearing this 1K milestone soon!!

Aloha Rebecca!! We wonder the same thing sometimes why we share and don't order our own...😂. You would think after all this time we'd learn our lesson...but obviously not. 😂 We'll figure it out....one day😊. Definitely check out Hometown BBQ if you have a chance...you'll love it.

Man oh man I love their bbq but I need to try the brisket chili. Saw that on the menu but didnt get that the last time. The ribs and pork wow! Such a fan of smoked ribs. And gotta have me some bbq beans. Thanks for showing the other dishes and the Wai Kai grassy area looks so relaxing. Too bad it started to rain. Only 10 more to go to 1k! ❤

Hey Misty!! So many good options to pick from Hometown BBQ but so little stomach space!! An ongoing problem right?? Even though Wai Kai can be a drive for some from town, but its such a nice spot to enjoy with that lawn area and right off the water. You should've seen us trying to pack everything up and run to the car...it was funny and ugly at the same time. We're almost there for sure with this big milestone...very exciting for sure!!

That was good comparing your town bbq to Hometown BBQ with the flavours 😋 The meat falling apart is a winner 🏆
Any chance of doing a vid of your local BBQ in Texas ?
In Australia, BBQ means a whole different thing.
    Cheers Rod 🤙

Hi Rod! Hometown BBQ is definitely showcasing Texas style BBQ well. We even think it can compete with some of the other staple BBQ spots here in Texas. We do have some local Texas BBQ vids on deck so stay tuned for those. We saw a video of Mark Wiens when he was in Australia showcasing some local BBQ and it is quite different than what we're accustomed of seeing, but then BBQ in general can vary so much from region to region just here in the USA!! A great excuse to try them all!!

BBQ @ WaiKai?!....Is this different from Sunset Texas BBQ?...$$$$ on par w/some eateries in/around Hawaii!-lol....You guys geta chance to checkout WaiKai itself?!

Hi Harry! Similar Texas style BBQ. Hometown BBQ has a few more items that Sunset Texas BBQ doesn't have and vice versa. Hometown BBQ also adds island inspired twists to their BBQ like the picked onions or the furikake to their corn and other unique items like the brisket chili. Both are definitely great in their own way and do represent Texas Style BBQ!! We had a chance to look around Wai Kai but did not see the wave machine in action as it was already early evening when we went. Very nice green space as you saw which was very nice. A great spot to check out for sure if in the area!!
