Today, in an Animal Crossing New Horizons tutorial video, we breakdown the steps you need to know, to move every single rock.
Typically Animal Crossing players would like to rearrange the rocks and design a Rock Garden or a Zen Garden, and moving their rocks to a specific location.
It's pretty easy to do, so we go through an example as I make my own Animal Crossing New Horizons Rock Garden, by moving all 6 rocks into their own area.
Doing this makes the rocks look much nicer and it's super easy to find the Bell Rock each day.

Some people have suggested that you can only have 3 rocks per acre (on the map), but this example has the left 4 rocks in one acre and the right 2 in another. So to potentially avoid wasting any time, I recommend not placing more than 4 rocks in a single acre, just in case 🙂

One thing I'll add is that you don't need to break all the rocks on the first day trying this, you can break a rock each day and one rock will spawn the next day. Repeat each day until all rocks are in place.

Didn't think I'd actually do this. I was thinking "eh that's a lot of effort and time, and I don't even know if the garden location is even in a good spot. Nah, I probably won't do this."
Fast forward to casually chopping down my trees to create a designated orchard, and then experimentally dropping a few mannequins.
Fast forward even more to me, 6 hours later, with a sore thumb, burning eyes, and every tree chopped down (except 17 regular trees and a whole lot of fruit trees), with mannequins in every 3rd square of my entire island... But hey, woke up this morning and a rock had spawned in the garden area I made! So it's working so far!
that's probably how I'm going to end up... now thinking it's too much of an hassle and then I'll catch myself tomorrow trying to see how many mannequins I can place in under an hour.
At first I thought the mannequins were a waste of time. “Couldn’t he just terraform a bunch of cliffs like I did?” But at the end when you change the design, which would delete all the existing mannequins... my brain was officially blown.

Ok here’s a tip for everyone who has rocks that went missing (like my last one did), try removing one of your mannequins and seeing if the rock spawns in that spot the next day. If it does, you might want to readjust the space you want your last/missing rock to spawn into because that means it was unable to spawn anywhere on your island, including the space you set aside for it. Hope this helped so you don’t waste hours trying to figure out where a rock went like I did!!

@@heather4518 I actually did this today. It was tediously addictive. The spot I had in mind original didn't work out, acre-wise, so I moved it to a vacant spot in my "museum area", where it straddles two acres. I'm hoping I spread out the mannequins correctly. I'll find out tomorrow. 😅

*HERE IS A TECHNIQUE TO PREVENT ACCIDENTALLY BREAKING THEM*
Some people came up with the idea of completely fencing in the rock area, and the only way to get in is with a toilet rotated sideways so it removes all the fruit when you come in. This also prevents any friends or guests from breaking them. :)

I recommend putting a fenced off area and a toilet to the entrance of your rock garden. That way, people visiting won’t break any of the rocks.
@@geometryguy8873 Yes, because the toilet makes the eaten fruit disappear, so it's harder for you or the friend to accidentally destroy a rock.

When I was trying to get my first blue rose, my island was filled up with so many roses and then I thought I could also place my rocks to a designated area since my island was already almost filled with roses everywhere. That was satisfying when I got my first blue rose and all 6 rocks in the perfect order at the same time. ✨

God I did this last weekend, but instead I just covered everything with weeds and patterns and paths, this seems much smarter. Only time I decided to do time traveling. I surrounded my rocks with the stone fence and made it all look like an archaeological dig site! Took me an hour to clean up my whole island of weeds and custom patterns ;__;

Hey guys! I just did this (finished the whole process today) and I want to share my experience and thank Mayor Mori for the video.
1) It worked in my island. I have now 6 rocks arranged together.
2) By total accident I placed 4 of my rocks in one square on the map and 2 on another square. Near the middle of the island. I was lucky because I didn’t read the comment section of this video until much later. I think the 4-rock limit per map square (quadrant) depends on the position of the quadrant, the ones in the edges may have a lower rock limit.
3) The placing of mannequins took me between 2 and 3 hours. It was the most time-consuming part. Not fun at all.
4) It took me 7 days, because after rock number 1 and 2 appeared, the third one appeared in another part of the island, near a tree, were I missed placing a mannequin at the right distance. Be careful with the trees, because sometimes the “mannequin space space mannequin” works differently for trees. I recommend putting additional mannequins near trees and flowers.
5) Having the mannequins all over the island for 6 days (or 7 days in my case) was the most annoying part of the entire process. You kind of get used to them but I recommend not doing anything more than the usual daily tasks during the process, because moving around is a pain.
6) As some others have mentioned, having that many things (mannequins) placed on your island gives you a 5-star rating, that happens the day after you finish placing the mannequins.
7) It’s not an easy process, but it works. I recommend doing this before you start “pimping” your island. Mine was almost all natural with not many constructions or paths. You can forget about doing anything else until the process is done.

i have a problem here so i have my area set out for spawning rocks and it has one rock in it already to get started so I needed to move the other 5. I place Mannequins all over my island and waited till today. out fo the 5 rocks i broke only one spawned menaing 4 are missing, and it didnt even spawn in the area I wanted it to either it actually spawned in an area full of flowers which i thought couldnt happen. But the other 4 never spawned at all. Does only one rock spawn per day?
I had quite the opposite feeling about your remark 7, my island was already an almost done 5-star island with paths basically everywhere, resulting in only needing a small amount of (in my case fences) to block off the remaining few open spots
But if you pimp a lot of your island, with a bunch of furniture and paths and stuff, won’t they get in the way of rocks spawning, and make the placing mannequins easier? Assuming the spot the rocks would be was already planned, of course.

Great video, thanks for this! An easier way of blocking spaces and cleaning up would be to just plant weeds everywhere and then pay Leif to clean them away once you're finished moving rocks. You would need the most up to date version and would have to wait a day for the clean up, but it would save you like 2 hours of placing mannequins.
I'm literally crying 😭 after 14 hours i finally got them in a place. It took me the whole day and i was so close to give up but now I'm so glad i didn't. ✊🏽🥺
Can you spawn rocks right up against the plaza? I want them displayed like those concrete balls out in front of Target stores.
I love that you thought of this. I imagine you'd be able to get them right up next to it since you can place other decoration items there.
That won't work if they're flush against the plaza, since loot can't drop on there. Just one space away from it should work, but keep in mind no more than 4 rocks can be on one acre grid.

Wow that mannequin tip is super smart! I've seen people use fences, but you have to go back and pick them all up after. Mannequins save so much time!
Yay! I managed to do it, but as an extra note to anyone else (incase you missed it) rocks can spawn on dirt paths and sand but not beaches.
*Rocks will spawn next to stone paths but not on them so if you can't find a rock, most likely it's right next to one of your paths* rocks will not spawn where things are dropped or where flowers are so if during tt or waiting leave weeds where they are until after the process.
It took me about 30 mins to find that one rock which decided to spawn next to my path,
Also random note, they won't spawn where a snowboy has been built (as it's snow rn)
i'm seeing everyone say it took them 2hrs to place mannequins...
meanwhile it took me pretty much the entire day???
i just called it quits cause it took forever to place them...unless theres a simpler way to add the mannequins
It's faster to just put down a stone path on every patch of grass except where you want the rocks to go but that's just me lol

Bonus tip. Rocks can spawn on sand and dirt path blocks, so be sure to change the grass path to w/e you want to fill the space after the rocks are moved. That way the zen garden wont look off.

Lauren Thorne Pathways stop rocks spawning on that space, but not the spaces around it. Unless you have paths on every single open space on your island, it won’t work.

I shouldnt have started doing this. Every day this ugly ass stone appears in a unrealistic spot😂 and every day I place new mannequins. I cant even walk properly around my island anymore and every morning this shady stone appears somewhere. But I dont want to stop because I feel im so close🤣🤣

Thank you this was super helpful and time traveling really speeds this up. I had everything setup. One rock spawned in a place by one of my villagers houses. Broke the rock jumped 3 days saved and came back to real time and all my rocks were arranged!

Make sure there is nothing blocking your sight to the rocks. For me it was a tree! Removed the tree and the next day the rock appeared. Make sure you have at least 4 tiles in front of the rock where there is nothing blocking the stone this also includes buildings and layers!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It took me eight days (because the first two days rocks found the spots I had missed), but I now have a rock garden! Removal of the mannequins was so easy, too. Great idea.

Or, maybe an update when you 'plant" (dig a hole a place a rock in it) a rock, it will 'grow' has a full rock the next day or so if you have less than 6 rock on the island... Just an idea like that. :-)
@@Wooly4 The problem is that you could just take rocks from Mile islands and fill your island with rocks then.
This looks a similar idea to something I saw for New Leaf. It was for how to make villagers move in to your ideal place in your town. You could just place random custom paths everywhere.

I could never get villagers to place their houses where I wanted even with the paths... they ended up screwing up my paths and decorations so many times. 😭
I only got three rocks on the spot I wanted it to be on, for some reason I couldn’t find the other 3 rocks :(
Thank you for this tutorial! I have an island with a "4 Elements" theme and I'll be using this method to get all my rocks into the "Earth" area!
Side Note: I feel like nintendo should patch in a way to easily move rocks, similar to trees. Maybe eat a piece of fruit and press Y on a boulder to be able to put it in your pockets

I’m a week in, have the right set up... they were spawning in a few spots I missed Day 1 and Day 2... and now I haven’t had any rocks since? I have almost the same setup, but without the hedges around. So frustrated.
I only got the glowing money hole to spawn in the area I want Stones to spawn. What the fu**!?
i tried doing this and placing all the mannequins slowly but surely drained my will to live. by the time i had finished placing them my hand had cramped several times. i time travelled to the next day to discover that i had left a huge patch mannequin-less. i was heart broken. i fixed it and eventually i managed to make the rock garden. it’s beautiful and i love it 10/10 this tutorial is very good :)
Here I was thinking there was a simple way to move the Rocks that I was unaware of. Definitely not something you want to really mess up on or repeat often

I had seen someone had done this on Reddit already. Everyone was suggesting a "toilet turnstile" to protect the accomplishment from travelers.

@@cloudie1464 basically, put toilets in front of the entrance of your garden so people have to shit out their fruits before entering your rock garden, preventing them from breaking the rocks!

Rocks won’t spawn behind trees. I learned this the hard way. Chopped the tree down after days of nothing spawning, and bam.
Something I discovered is you also can't have a tree blocking the "view" of where the rock will go. So basically you can't have a tree 1 2 or 3 spaces south of where you want your rock to spawn
Yes a tree or any other item. i moved all my items away from where I wanted the rocks and boom!! The rocks came. My question is once all rocks are together where you want can you move those items back to where they were?

I had to come back and say it didn't work for me. idk what I did wrong. got stressed so I leave them where they are. Only 1 spawned in the garden, I changed nothing and then the others just showed up in places where they shouldn't :(

Just started, I didn't know you could keep banging at the rocks to drop things, I thought you had to break them... so I broke them all. hehe gotta wait for them to spawn again. Will be doing this in the future thanks!
It only took me 11 days to do it xD because rocks sometimes spawned on spots i missed, and yes you can have them on the same acree i have all six of them

Its pretty worth it because I'm tired of rocks spawning in the middle of my orchards
Thank you for this! I did this last week. Placing all mannequins for me took a little longer than three hours, I kinda over did it because I didn't want to waste a day where one spawned where I didn't want it to. I split my rocks up by four by two, with two on the cliff below the four in case all six were going to not spawn together (some ppl reported that). But each day I had no issue, clean up was fast and easy and I'm so glad I did it! Also now I appreciate moving around my island more since there aren't a thousand mannequins on there, thank you so much!!
