Elizabeth Post give them walldecorations! They wont show up in their houses. I always make the hanging terrarium, since it sells for 2500 at nooks. If you give a selfmade diy of 2500, they will always give you a present back. It will also give you the most friendship points (with wrapping paper)
Tbh, I only give furniture if it goes well with their home design. For example, I give Rosie Pink stuff. She likes the items, and it looks nice in her house.

It's pretty much the same for real life friendships. Talk to people and give them presents to make them like you more, wack them with a net repeatedly to make them hate you.

If you don't want your villagers to replace their furniture, you can always send wall/door items. My gift of choice is the crest doorplate because it only costs 4 iron per villager and sells for roughly 3000 bells.

You can Investigate lost items in your inventory. There are clues to who it belongs to if you know your animals well. If it just says "somebody lost this" then it belongs to your newest or lowest friendship level animal.
I don't think this is accurate, I find like 3 to 5 items a week and it almost always belongs to Beau, who is probably the highest friendship as he was the first to let me change his catchphrase and greeting. When it doesn't belong to him it belongs to pretty random villagers. I assumed Beau gets the most lost items cause of his personality. And to my knowledge, it always says someone lost an item.

I get that villager pictures are super important and signify that you have formed a strong connection with one of your villagers, but how weird would it be if you made best friends with someone and they gave you a framed picture of themself? Maybe people do do this, but I don't have any friends, so I wouldn't know.
I think its sort of like how you might give your school photos to family members? I remember when i was younger seeing friends give their school photos to each other so they could decorate their locker.
This is the type of info that gives us all comfort in knowing there is so much more to this game, and will be continuously playable for years to come! Even for those who time travel. So many seemingly endless goals and achievements and I love it!
@@hannahx211 keep talking to them 7-8 times a day and you should get favors. They might be thinking of something or run up to you to ask for favors sometimes. Don't talk to them too much or they might get worried about something and will take longer to get their photos
i really wish they changed the way villagers left in the sense that the villager you have the lowest friendship w/ are more likely to leave, kinda feels like they didn't even care abt the personalities of the villagers this time around ;/

Lower friendship villagers are more likely to leave. It’s just what’s more important is their friendship levels with other residents. Having multiple best friends really helps lower their chances of being picked, though regardless everyone still has a decent chance of wanting to leave.

Man I used to grind all my villagers hard in New Leaf, not letting them move until I got their picture. I had a basement dedicated to everyone that had come and gone. Cant wait to start up with that again. Not pursuing it actively but I got two pics already. I just keep giving them iron nuggets everyday.

I fell in love with Pierce but I knew I wanted Apollo to replace him eventually regardless. I worked hard to try and earn Pierce's photo as consolation for being the guy who truly got along with everyone and won my heart. He asked to move... and I was ready to take it as a loss. But then I gave him his daily gift, the last I would be able to give him and lo and behold... snagged his photo. The game was kind to me that day. You will be missed, Pierce
Just in case anyone doesn't know this, with the lost items there's an option to investigate them so you can better guess who they belong to. it's annoying for me though because I currently have a bunch that are the same personality type so it's a 50/50 if I guess the type right ( Phoebe and Deidre for chi, Marina and Goldie for Normal, Kyle and Lopez for smug, Raddle and Sherb for lazy and then just Dobie for cranky and Blaire for snooty.

It should be noted that the friendship tier bonus points when gifting is only rewarded if you receive an item back (e.g. clothing or furniture). So you can gift items from 250-2499 for a 50% chance of getting this bonus, or guarantee that you get this friendship tier bonus by giving them 2500+ bell items. If you want to track what friendship points you accumulate then you can do so through public projects (bridges and inclines) as the bells donated to these each day by the villagers is equal to the total number of friendship points you've accumulated with everyone.
I’ve played since launch and haven’t gotten a picture, but I’m getting requests to change catchphrase, greeting or nickname every now and then. Do I really need to give them gifts every day? Also if I decline to buy when they want to sell me something, will the friendship go down?
I've played daily since release and I have 2 photos. But I don't focus much on my villagers except for Sherb and Beau. The rest of my villagers are villagers I found for my friends or villagers I don't like, so I want to put them in boxes asap. I only just got Beau 2 weeks ago, so I don't have his photo yet.
The Photo is gained randomly through gift exchange as soon as friendship level 5. Gift exchange is what happens when u give them expensive gifts. If somehow you max out your friendship at 255 points you are guaranteed to get the photo. Edit: see below. What I said here was not right.

I got Apple's photo first, which I love because she's my favorite! The one thing I find kind of odd is that even though her level was high enough to give me the photo, she's never asked me to do a nickname or greeting. I wish she would do that sometime.

I’ve got 6 pictures now (no tt). Give them gifts that can sell for more than 2500 at Nook’s Cranny. Make sure to wrap them. Talk to them a tooooon, multiple times an hour and multiple times a day. Make sure to do favors for them (don’t open the gifts). Easy.
Good to know I'm not doing any harm by talking to Margie like 30 times a day. I love her so much I'm trying to get her photo, these comments and video are so helpful.
I always give fruits even on their birthdays. Because I don’t want to ruined their interior and their unique clothings. I always refuse any quest they ask me because right now except nicknames can be reset. There is no way to permanently reset their clothings and interior to default.
Nibbles was my best friend on my island, but she moved away. She said she wanted to be a pop star and needed to move elsewhere to make her dreams come true. It was a hard decision to let her go, but I guess that’s what friendship is all about.

As someone who has obtained 16 photos during the past week, I would like to point out a potential glitch found in the game. If you are like me and only gift villagers wrapped up 2x2 furnitures in fear of villagers putting random smaller gifts inside their house which in turn destroys their aesthetic permanently. We are in a bit of trouble. One thing I've noticed is that , by the time some of my villagers gave me their photos, the default smaller “table top“ furniture in their house had all vanished. This happened to my Raymond, Merengue and Marina, and I can't quite pinpoint the logic behind it. It looked almost if their house had a breakin, and the robber only stole what they could carry. However all is not lost, I managed to gift back even better small furnitures day after day. Their current interior deco looks better than their default, but one downside is that villagers have the habit of switch up the placement of gifted small furnitures every day. So you might one day walk in to find a laptop on their kitchen counter with its screen facing the wall. That's all, just wanted to share my somewhat unusual experience ;D

I got my first villager photo EVER on New Year’s Eve from Julian!!! I started giving my villagers fossils and within a few days received Julian, Twiggy, and Norma’s photos 🥰 I’ve had all of them for a few months. Giving them fossils was really the boost I needed to get those photos though! I totally recommend it. Especially if, like me, you’ve already completed the fossils for the museum. 🦴
Getting rid of characters is so hard. I had a visitor in the campsite and when he finally asked if he could ask another villager to get out what a shock when I saw my favourite villager was about to move. I talk to him everyday, not too much, give gifts, exchange stuff. I don't understand. Meanwhile there are TWO characters I never talk to and they're here. It's been 1 month and they won't leave. I'm pissed.

I haven't been seeing this said much, but I had a ton of leftover fossils and my museum is already done with fossils.. so I gift wrapped a ton of them and gave them to villagers instead of furniture. Doing that each time worked just as well, but I time travel, so I imagine maybe it's less effective than expensive furniture without TT? The villagers still gave me bells or items after I gave them wrapped fossils and, eventually, their framed photo. I gave Filbert expensive furniture and his house looks whack now lol.
Decreasing friendship helps a bit as there is a formula for determining if a villager will prompt to move out in that day. If it’s a day for a villager to prompt to move out, the characters with the highest average friendship with yourself and other residents, plus an extra larger bonus for every best friend that resident has, will be the ones with the lowest percentages to get the prompt. But even residents with maxed out friendships with all other residents have a chance to ask to leave.
I'm happy and sad to reach my new level of friendship with one of my villagers, Mira, as she now sells me stuff. I'm happy she thinks of me as a good friend, but I'm always afraid she will hate me if I don't keep buying from her, LOL. I'm now scared the other villagers will sell me stuff!

Its a little all over the place for me between Charesles, Piper, Skye, and Agnes. Agnes is the highest, She let me change her catch phrase. Charesles has asked me to go on quests and treasure hunts, Skye asks me for favors and gifted stuff, Piper has asked for favors and gifted me stuff. In a nutshell.
Almost 2 Months of playing and never got one and then within 2 days both Bones and Ankha gave me theirs 😂 Ankha even asked me if she should move out and I begged her to stay, then I gave her a perfekt gift she would like and next thing she gave to me was her photo, i‘m convinced she just wanted to test my friendship before she gave it to me, lol 😂
I remember that I celebrated a villagers birthday and wrapped their gift. The next day, they gifted me their photo. At the time, I thought going to their birthday would always get me their photo. I was so confused when papi didn't give me his photo. Also based on this video, I think me and wolfgang are good friends since he asked me to create a greeting for him
Raymond was my third villager and I have given him presents every day since I began playing. He recently gave me his photo after a few months of playing. I always made sure to talk to him multiple times and always purchased what he offered to sell me, even if i didnt want it lol. I find that giving them gifts that are a bit more personalized to their personality types really help. For example, for Raymond I gave him clothes like a tuxedo/college sweater that I felt his gentlemanly demeanor would like. I also have Sheldons photo and for him I gave him lots of sport items such as a basketball hoop or bench press. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I think thats what helped get the photos.
I just got Snake’s photo today by picking up a lost item and giving it to him. He then thanked me and gave me his photo. I cried since he was my starter villager. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020

Can a villager lose friendship if I talk to them too much? Some villagers seem to be dropping some pretty big hints sometimes if I talk to them a bunch of times throughout the day. Also, if two villagers ask me for my opinion, and I side with one villager, does that affect friendship in any way?
5:29 I think you can also lose points if they ask you to catch a bug or something and you refuse. Yesterday I turned down a request as I was busy, and even though you can just agree and then not give the item with no consequences I feel bad doing that. After I said no there was a sad sounding sound effect, like the opposite of the sound when you agree to do a task and you get a happy one. Then today I could no longer give the villager gifts when I'd be able to before. So in future I'll just lie to them because apparently that's the only way.

It should be noted that the friendship tier bonus points when gifting is only rewarded if you receive an item back (e.g. clothing or furniture). So you can gift items from 250-2499 for a 50% chance of getting this bonus, or guarantee that you get this friendship tier bonus by giving them 2500+ bell items.
If you want to track what friendship points you accumulate then you can do so through public projects (bridges and inclines) as the bells donated to these each day by the villagers is equal to the total number of friendship points you've accumulated with everyone.
So each villager provides the amount of bells equivalent to their friendship points

I've played daily since release and I have 2 photos. But I don't focus much on my villagers except for Sherb and Beau. The rest of my villagers are villagers I found for my friends or villagers I don't like, so I want to put them in boxes asap. I only just got Beau 2 weeks ago, so I don't have his photo yet.
The Photo is gained randomly through gift exchange as soon as friendship level 5. Gift exchange is what happens when u give them expensive gifts. If somehow you max out your friendship at 255 points you are guaranteed to get the photo.

@@altf4582 I am sorry, what I said before was wrong. Even at max friendship there is only roughly a 10 percent chance to get the framed photo as gift from gift exchange. Keep giving furniture with sales value above 2500 bells to your maxed villagers!
Just to let you all know, villagers can give you there photo more than once. Poppy the squirrel just gave me her photo for the second time. I am a time traveler.

I got Apple's photo first, which I love because she's my favorite! The one thing I find kind of odd is that even though her level was high enough to give me the photo, she's never asked me to do a nickname or greeting. I wish she would do that sometime.
I’m trying so hard to get Marshal to give me his photo, giving him gifts everyday and keep talking to him and I’ve only just got true friends with him. Yet I never talk to Bunnie, but because I’ve been to her birthday party and gave her a gift card she’s now got a nickname for me 😅

I’ve got 6 pictures now (no tt). Give them gifts that can sell for more than 2500 at Nook’s Cranny. Make sure to wrap them. Talk to them a tooooon, multiple times an hour and multiple times a day. Make sure to do favors for them (don’t open the gifts). Easy.

Good to know I'm not doing any harm by talking to Margie like 30 times a day. I love her so much I'm trying to get her photo, these comments and video are so helpful.
I always give fruits even on their birthdays. Because I don’t want to ruined their interior and their unique clothings. I always refuse any quest they ask me because right now except nicknames can be reset. There is no way to permanently reset their clothings and interior to default.
Give them wall hanging items. (Such as iron wall lamps, or hanging terrariums) They won't display those.
Gave all my villagers giftwrapped presents today and got my first picture!! I'm so happy!

Nibbles was my best friend on my island, but she moved away. She said she wanted to be a pop star and needed to move elsewhere to make her dreams come true. It was a hard decision to let her go, but I guess that’s what friendship is all about.
One correction though: gifting items that sell for over 2500 bells can still result in getting bells instead of an item, sadly.

As someone who has obtained 16 photos during the past week, I would like to point out a potential glitch found in the game. If you are like me and only gift villagers wrapped up 2x2 furnitures in fear of villagers putting random smaller gifts inside their house which in turn destroys their aesthetic permanently. We are in a bit of trouble. One thing I've noticed is that , by the time some of my villagers gave me their photos, the default smaller “table top“ furniture in their house had all vanished. This happened to my Raymond, Merengue and Marina, and I can't quite pinpoint the logic behind it.
It looked almost if their house had a breakin, and the robber only stole what they could carry. However all is not lost, I managed to gift back even better small furnitures day after day. Their current interior deco looks better than their default, but one downside is that villagers have the habit of switch up the placement of gifted small furnitures every day. So you might one day walk in to find a laptop on their kitchen counter with its screen facing the wall. That's all, just wanted to share my somewhat unusual experience ;D

I got my first villager photo EVER on New Year’s Eve from Julian!!! I started giving my villagers fossils and within a few days received Julian, Twiggy, and Norma’s photos 🥰 I’ve had all of them for a few months. Giving them fossils was really the boost I needed to get those photos though! I totally recommend it. Especially if, like me, you’ve already completed the fossils for the museum. 🦴

Getting rid of characters is so hard. I had a visitor in the campsite and when he finally asked if he could ask another villager to get out what a shock when I saw my favourite villager was about to move. I talk to him everyday, not too much, give gifts, exchange stuff. I don't understand. Meanwhile there are TWO characters I never talk to and they're here. It's been 1 month and they won't leave. I'm pissed.

I haven't been seeing this said much, but I had a ton of leftover fossils and my museum is already done with fossils.. so I gift wrapped a ton of them and gave them to villagers instead of furniture. Doing that each time worked just as well, but I time travel, so I imagine maybe it's less effective than expensive furniture without TT? The villagers still gave me bells or items after I gave them wrapped fossils and, eventually, their framed photo. I gave Filbert expensive furniture and his house looks whack now lol.
Decreasing friendship helps a bit as there is a formula for determining if a villager will prompt to move out in that day. If it’s a day for a villager to prompt to move out, the characters with the highest average friendship with yourself and other residents, plus an extra larger bonus for every best friend that resident has, will be the ones with the lowest percentages to get the prompt. But even residents with maxed out friendships with all other residents have a chance to ask to leave.

Its a little all over the place for me between Charesles, Piper, Skye, and Agnes. Agnes is the highest, She let me change her catch phrase. Charesles has asked me to go on quests and treasure hunts, Skye asks me for favors and gifted stuff, Piper has asked for favors and gifted me stuff. In a nutshell.

Almost 2 Months of playing and never got one and then within 2 days both Bones and Ankha gave me theirs 😂 Ankha even asked me if she should move out and I begged her to stay, then I gave her a perfekt gift she would like and next thing she gave to me was her photo, i‘m convinced she just wanted to test my friendship before she gave it to me, lol 😂

Raymond was my third villager and I have given him presents every day since I began playing. He recently gave me his photo after a few months of playing. I always made sure to talk to him multiple times and always purchased what he offered to sell me, even if i didnt want it lol. I find that giving them gifts that are a bit more personalized to their personality types really help. For example, for Raymond I gave him clothes like a tuxedo/college sweater that I felt his gentlemanly demeanor would like. I also have Sheldons photo and for him I gave him lots of sport items such as a basketball hoop or bench press. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I think thats what helped get the photos.
So the nook miles task "true friends" is getting them to tier 3 or 4? I've got 3 as "true friends" and none have offered a photo or greeting change.

Question: At what friendship tier will villagers teach you certain reactions? Some reactions require "high friendship", but what tier is that?
Tier 5-6. Normal villagers give you daydreaming, peppy ones give you mischief, snooty ones give you love, sisterly villagers give you confident, lazy pride, jock flourish, cranky inspiration, and smug showmanship.
I've been playing since launch and no pictures yet. I asked someone about this a few weeks ago and she said they had changed pics over to posters so this makes me happy :) I loved collecting pictures.

5:29 I think you can also lose points if they ask you to catch a bug or something and you refuse. Yesterday I turned down a request as I was busy, and even though you can just agree and then not give the item with no consequences I feel bad doing that. After I said no there was a sad sounding sound effect, like the opposite of the sound when you agree to do a task and you get a happy one. Then today I could no longer give the villager gifts when I'd be able to before. So in future I'll just lie to them because apparently that's the only way.

Accepting or refusing nicknames has no effect on friendship level, right? I've always hated the nickname system and refuse to let them even suggest something.
