    Great review, you're the only one I've seen that has pointed that out with a Battery Vac, very helpful 👍🏻

    Thanks for the video! I picked up one of these for the exact reasons you mentioned (professional clean results). I used mine over the weekend and the biggest issue I have identified with it so far is: if you are cutting in a box/mud ring at receptacle height the dust collector tool is too large to fit below the gang box because the baseboard prohibits the collector from sticking to the wall. They could have made the footprint smaller by changing the hose connection location.

      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому

      Yeah I haven’t run into that scenario yet, but I can definitely picture what you are talking about.
      Maybe the hose could have came in from the front or something…

    Awesome video! I’ve been using this attachment for awhile now and love it. I’ve found that on heavy textured walls it doesn’t seal the best and leaves more dust behind when compared to smooth walls. Overall the dust collector is fantastic for using to cut in new electrical boxes and patching holes. Two thumbs up on the video!

      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому

      Appreciate that. What vacuum do you generally use if you don’t mind me asking?
      The more I thought about it… I think it’s more of a “it takes too much of the suction” than “not enough compression“ to seal to the wall with the packout vacuum that some little fly byes sneak over that edge. That’s why there is some left in the collector as well.
      The Festool had enough to hold to the wall and still suck the dust no problem.
      Just curious if you run a battery vacuum or corded.

      @@MORGANSMaintenance I run the Milwaukee m18 packout vacuum and a Rigid 14 gallon 6 hp (non battery powered). I agree with what you mentioned above and in your video that the more powerful the vacuum the better the attachment works. I just like how the attachment allows you to work with both hands and also cuts down the dust for the customer. Especially around smoke sensors In commercial buildings.

      Might be worth the time to add painter's tape on the upper lip for textured walls, depending on the job.

    There is a better way to use it to not have that little bit of dust fall. Pull it off the wall while vac is still running, bottom first so the dust that collects on that black ridge tilts off. It will sucked up through the large hole that is used to hold it on the wall. I dont know why the clear plastic isn't a 1/16-1/18 longer but found doing it this way gets that little bit of dust that gets benind the plastic

      I was the same way.. I wasn’t sure if a battery powered vacuum would be big enough is what was holding me back from buying. I didn’t know anyone personally who had one to ask…but that yellow sticker at Home Depot got me 😂.

  • @timh7156

    Maybe you could try pulling it off the wall while the vacuum is running. Possibly the dust would get sucked in the back as it’s falling.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  5 місяців тому

      It might help… it’s really like a small crack that if the dust makes it to it, there isn’t any way for the suction to pull it out. It’s past the point of air movement.
      It probably still wouldn’t get 100%, but when you pull it off the wall whatever dust flew back up towards the air that’s moving might get pulled in.
      Thanks for suggestion 👍

    Looks like a good general purpose dust collector rather than the ones available for specific drilling and chiseling operations. Suspect it would work a bit better when working close into corners as well. Not seen it available in the UK yet, but will be on the lookout for one.

    I was at Home Depot today ready to pickup this vacuum and I had to pass on it. I wanted a cordless vacuum for the convenance, but at $200 I don’t think this vacuum is worth it. Like you said the main reason for this vacuum and attachment ($50) is for the cutout and patch jobs. No reason you should have any dust after spending over $250. Rigid is usually my go to shop vac. I just get tired of bringing that 12 gallon vac up and down. I saw rigid has a mobile shop vac like 5.0 PK 4 gallon for $80. It’s corded but very powerful and mobile

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому

      The Ridgid corded 4 gallon is the one I take to job sites and use. Ridgid vacs are the best ones with what they sell at Home Depot and Lowe’s.
      I just don’t keep it in my Truck. I leave the M18 in my truck for small jobs (service calls) and where Power isn’t close by. I take the Ridgid if I know I’m going to need a vacuum ahead of time.

      If you aren’t in Packout the regular M18 vacuum is good if you can find it cheaper… I chose the Packout because I use Packout, and it takes bags.

    Thanks for the video. What hose and connection did you use? I've been eyeing this for the past 2 months, but hadn't purchased due to the price and concerned it wasn't compatible with my Festool CT36. I just have the 27mm hose.
    I've also always built a wide paper ledge and taped it to the wall with painter's tape to catch the drywall dust if I'm going to have to cut a hole into the drywall. Wish I could find it on sale or clearance at my nearby hardware stores!

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому +1

      They dropped it down to even $25 now that my store doesn’t have anymore 😂
      I used a 2-1/2 Ridged Hose but my smaller Festool hose (that came with my CT26) fits on the inside of the Milwaukee Adapters.. a little snug that you can’t push it in all the way, but it should work for this where you are physically working with it.

    • @carolyn8728
      @carolyn8728 Рік тому +1

      @@MORGANSMaintenance So the 2-1/2" Rigid hose will fit into the CT26 or does it come with an appropriate adaptor that allows the hose to connect to the Festool vac body just right? I've been considering getting a larger diameter hose, so if it Rigid hose works with no problem, I might get that too.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому +1

      @@carolyn8728 yeah I really like the orange Ridgid Hoses. They fit into my Festool Vacuum body. That’s what I use most of the time for my tools that take the US standard stuff including cleaning stuff.
      It just pushes right in.
      I actually bought my vacuum off a friend that didn’t have a hose, so I ended up using what I had is how I figured out they work. I did buy a Festool Hose though because it fits some things I have better.

    • @carolyn8728
      @carolyn8728 Рік тому +1

      @@MORGANSMaintenance Yay! The Festool large-diameter hose is so expensive! I love the new smooth exterior hoses, but mine is the old version. I just watched a cool video by Dave Stanton on how he installed a cable sleeve over his old-style Festool hose so that it wouldn't catch on the edge of his work surface anymore. ua-cam.com/video/s6zYwFmBOYg/v-deo.html

    Can a dust collector be used like a normal dry-only shop vac? Or will that damage the dust collector

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  Рік тому

      If you are talking about my Festool.. I primarily use it for dust… but it has a bag/filter etc. like any other shop vac. The only thing it has extra is a Hepa filter.
      It cost more to replace the filters in it so I don’t typically just suck up junk in it, but if you have a bag it catches all that.
      I haven’t had any issues, whether you should or not… I’m not sure 100%
