В конце ролика слышно как крылья шкрабают об асфальт, а это значит надо придумать упорные штоки, как у кранов, чтобы поднимали платформу и крылья без помехи превращались в колеса..
Yup my man I was suggesting the same concept after watching and listening to the uncomfortable sound of scrapping of the wheels on the ground. glad we can see a mechanical solution to this problem without which this drone will face technical issue on the wheels in the long run. 😊
Would love to know more about the engineering design of the power train. How are the wheels and propellers driven? What was the weight budget for each part of the system: batteries, drive, articulation, frame, etc?
I had an idea for a drone that could morph into a car a few months back and was excited to be the first one to try it out but sad to see that it was already made. :(
By now we should have a transformer like drone. It should be like a vtol plane (with foldable wing) that can be driven. Adding plastic wings doesn't add much weight
There is a durability issue with this design where the wheels become damaged whenever it switches between drone and vehicle modes. The constant movement and sweeping motion during this transition cause the wheels to malfunction and eventually become unusable.
Yes. I too have been observing this rubbing of wheels on the ground during transition. An extra mechanism needed to be worked out that lifts the wheel an inch off the ground during it's hover to rover mode - that would go a long way in its durability. 😄
072623/0958h PST 🇺🇸 I’m a subscriber. Thank you for exhibiting the newest phenomenon. I didn’t expect the wheels were, actually 4 lift propellers. Great design. Sooner than expected the device will be sought by ‘real’ end users. Good luck.
BTTF flying car concept realized! Every flying car has looked and seemed very unwieldy, see retracting rotors. This makes the wheels the rotors. To alleviate the scraping, possibly an inflatable airbag on the underbelly, or a rotor that provides very minimal lift. Ideally the conversion should take place without the wheels making contact with the ground. The bonus with the airbag concept is it can now float, the wheels/rotors could shift to provide forward thrust. Another option, the landing gear present could simply extend and retract.
Now if only the designer had a little more patience and not be in a rush to announce to the world, this could have been a great concept. Ya, the scrapping of wheels on the ground during transition from hover to rover mode is what i am talking about. How about four plastic telescopic baton(air pump perhaps?) feet could be the first to touch the ground and then the 4 fan/wheel can smoothly contract to rover mode and as the four batons retracted the wheels are brought down in contact with the ground. If only such extra effort was done, this could have been mooted as exploratory drone on Mars. But now its just a fancy toy.
The problem with pneumatic feet is that it would add too much weight to the drone; weight that could be saved. Looking at the footage, it already looks heavy (moving fairly slow). I bet they wanted to add landing feet, but couldn't because the drone wouldn't lift off.
Water proof it for boating/submersible applications and give it arms and some kind of hands! Give it wheels that morph to tank treads also 😊 Incorporate a sail too. After that it should be able to turn into just a wheel. It could also have a mode to attach to a system of gondolas (ski lifts) capable of both charging and carrying it via a cable at the same time.😮 I should be getting money for these ideas......
Soooo.... when it goes from flight to rolling, if you look at the wheel design, it seems that it will be scooping up a bunch of Martian dirt with the wheels. I think that could be problematic if any of the debris gets stuck between the blades and the outside rim. Just sayin'
One of the coolest drones I’ve ever seen.
It would be much better if it had permanent rotors above the wheels so it could fly on the role without stopping !
Wow, this contraption made the poor turtle at 0:41 surprisingly fast!
You've got some good pair of eyes
For real
Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads!
Next extra-planetary vehicle! Mars are you ready?!
As well future Earthmobile!
Maybe it'll become a good startup for Elon musk to buy
significant breakthrough!
Amazing job!
Very cool, nice work 👏👍
Will be standard locomotion on all drones in 2040
Very cool idea!

🤣🤣🤣 Не подсказывайте! Всем звук очень понравился. Пусть скебут, пока не сточатся. Кружок слесарей-однодневок! 🤣🤣🤣
A solution could be the Legs it lands on could adjust to go Up an Down even for little to accommodate the wheels dragging on tha ground.
Yup my man

so cool!!!love it!
Elegant design.

Lol I would imagine they're trying to get make some money off this, so they wouldn't tell us shit, would they 😜
I want one of these!😎
Skynets crawl out of the proverbial ooze.
Skynets first baby step
😦
ChaosGPT or SkyGPT was the first baby steps ☠️
That's amazing
Something to send to Mars , add some walking legs to tone the first walking robot there before they send spot

Nice!!
Now that's mighty clever.

Superb
Nice idea what about retractable landing pads though that would be cool
The motors needed for that would make the drone too heavy to fly.
A just-okay job on the chirpy music. Why no strumming ukulele, no whistling?
Now if the wheels are buoyant you could drive it on water.
Amphibian version hmmm 🤔
At the beginning of the vid there are cables at both sides scrubbing at the wheels. When starting to fly they are gone. ??????
Why do I feel the need to get one of these
Deserves to be the next Mars Rover...

Need improvement in external structure
Tyre grip should be improve
Overall good concept

😮😮 now thats new

Ingenuity move over!
"Do you want a RC car or a drone?"
"Yes"
Cool and useful
idk about useful.
@itzhexen0 gotta be a little creative
@@dingusbrule5756 Well it doesn't seem any more useful than a regular drone.
@itzhexen0 imagine if it had legs 👀
Driving it seems quiet; You could use flight to get over obstacles you can't drive over, like a river
🤔 but can you also make float, dive underwater and teleport too?
Yep, teleport is a must
Implosion

MIT eat your heart out!
Someone's getting a little rich. (I hope they improve the process of transitioning tho so that it doesn't involve scraping the wheels/prop enclosure.)
So how does it walk?
Increase size by 200 times could it be the first actual flying car? Bus even?
Train / locomotive 🚂 even? Oops was thinking about Back 🔙 to the future 3 😅
About time we see a normal 4 fan drone built 200 time larger to carry one or two humans like a flying car sci fi concept. 😁
Os carros voadores devem ser assim, pois se só voa, não é uma carro voador e sim uma aeronave!
wow
Good day. Please how do I get to the Caltech Robotics Institute. I don't know how, and I need guidance. Please help out, thanks
At what point does it walk???
which mode is more efficient for distance to battery ratio @caltech
guess
Wheels for sure
Good in traffic jams
take my monney, i need that
This is how flying cars should be
Технологии . Когда Аэро Такси ??
Nice me likey

Candy store music?
It's sweet (no pun intended), right?

Quick! Hide the plans from Skynet.
Крутой трансформер, от него уже не спрятаться и не убежать

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
🥲I want one
Nepali people just look and sit
The sound of the wheels scraping on the pavement after landing was just great! 🤣🤣🤣 5 dollar kids toy. 🤣🤣
It's just prototype
@@masterjakem Of the wheel? ))))
Maybe in future with mass production could be like $5... Right now is like $500+
there are many deficiency in the design. the friction of whhels after landing is un acceptable
It can't even swim? Bah!
flight time 5 min, drive time may be 10 min ?
The device is kinda cool. the music sucks.

Science has gone too far.
What is "too far"?
It's about time
We still in "stone ages" , the US Government and the Families that run this world have tech the public can't even comprehend.
It should be stopped!!!
Nope.
Until We can sit on the captain's deck and say : " Warp factor 9, mr.Sulu...!" 😁
Is it a terrible car or terrible drone? BOTH.
Nice but where is the walk?
can i have a source code for communication part of this project?
@caltech
