I’m looking at this, and I’m thinking that it could be a perfect guide dog for the blind. That is, of course, if it can be programmed to help its handler around obstacles. Might also need to be modified with an upward facing camera to keep track of objects at head hight of its handler. Oh that would be so cool.
@@angrytater2456 honestly, this wouldn’t bother me so much. I could be biased, though. I own a handful of companion robots. It would be a better solution for people who live or work in environments where they can’t have dogs. For example, I work in a machine shop. I cannot safely bring a dog into my place of work, where a robotic dog would only need periodic cleanings to remove any debris from its limbs. You can also transport a robotic dog more easily on services like Uber. People have been rejected from Uber rides because they have biological dogs. This dog can just be folded up and put in the trunk until the destination is reached. It can likewise be folded to fit under a bus seat, or even possibly an airplane seat. It takes about two years to prepare a guide dog for its handler. Lots of rigorous training, which only yields a small percentage of guides to the number of specially bred litters each year. While the initial training for a robot model could take years as well, the subsequent units could be programmed in the matter of minutes or hours. Updates could be put out over the air, so they always have the newest information available to them and their handler.
