Nice to see Gwynn get his respect
One of the best ever...
Fun fact: Tony Gwynn only struck out 3 times in his career vs Glavine, Smoltz and Maddox and Maddox never struck him out.
my favorite player all time great player and even greater human being
@@TheTruth-on5zx We lost him far too soon.
He's a first ballot Hall of Famer. How much more respect can he get?
Seeing fans of baseball talking with a legend is classic stuff.
Was a fan of baseball, and Yankees. Stopped in 2020 when they knelt in support of B*M, and against the Flag and Anthem. Haven't watched a game since, and I was really excited to see Gardner, Judge, and Cole...that is, until they exposed themselves as traitors - now I feel stupid for ever thinking the Steinbrenner kids were ever going to maintain the tradition of the Yankees.
Guys like you are hilarious..What business is it of yours how these guys feel politically?Do they play the game hard? Are you not entertained? Are you trying to date these guys??
One of the greatest pitchers ever
Always thought Clemens was your typical stand-offish rich ballplayer. Until he came to watch his son play A ball (Albany NY) a Houston affiliate. Clemens also wanted to play a round of golf before leaving and wanted a club near the airport. Thst happened to be the club I belonged to. Clemens, his brother n law, and two members played a round with him. When Clemens saw any members approaching him for an autograph when he was on the tee or fairway he would wait for them and sign whatever they wanted . After golf he stood outside the proshop to sign and make small talk to any member who wanted to meet him. This lasted for a good hour, until his brother n law insisted they leave and not miss their flight home. I know this was long winded, but Roger Clemens is a stand up guy. Truly a class act!
Robin Yount and Paul Molitor
Under-appreciated legends, because they played in Milwaukee.
If they played in New York, they'd be bigger the Jeter
Molitor was one of the best pure hitters of that era. He had such a short/quick swing. Still remember following the box scores everyday in the summer of ‘87 when he hit in 39 straight games.
Molitor could get 4 hits rolling out of bed.
Best example…Maris
Bigger than Jeter? Lol….no. From a lifetime Boston fan.
Amen! I grew up watching them in Miltown. Heroes to all of us. 3,000 hits for both. Tons of homer's & steals. Great combo
Hall of famer 100 percent.
Naw. But he was a great pitcher
@@Invisibledrone-you're a moron if you think Roger Clemens doesn't belong in the hall of fame.
@@andrewdevito6647 naw he cheated. End of story
No cheaters are in the hall huh rory😂
Clemens and rose for sure
Can listen to Clemens talk baseball for hours. Never was a fan because Piazza was my guy haha but seems like a cool dude 💯
I lived in New England & he wasn't really my guy. Piazza was my favorite & didn't appreciate the bat throw.Roid rage.
Also seems like a liar, no?
Boston resident and rabid redsox fan during the Clemens era. Never liked him.. bully, arrogant, liar , cheat. Unforgivable taking Piazza out of the game with his head hunting and roof rage. Wouldn’t pitch to him like a man. Can’t stand Clemens and his “schtick”. The tragedy is that he could’ve been considered one of the all time greatest if he had not resorted to drugs to revive and extend his fading career . He instead chose chose greed and money over integrity and less money. All you see now is PR bull crap to inflate his public personna , hoping people will have short memories and the writers will anoit him a HOF er. Pure manipulation, pure insincere attempt to get what he desperately wants but doesn’t deserve. Clemens being Clemens. Leopards don’t change their spots. He’s a fraud of a human being who cheated and lied about it to make more money and fame. Nah.. 30 years later I’m still not buying it.
Hall of Fame or not Roger Clemens was a force on the mound and was a great pitcher. Great interview.
Wade Boggs was never the same after Barney Gumble slugged him after an argument in a tavern.
Ooh, never heard that. But I did hear of Wade’s predilection for… fried chicken ;)
it was the sideburns.... once they were gone, Boggs was done lol
Pitt the Elder
If you ever get him back, please, you gotta ask about the Sox vs Yankees rivalry. Literally nobody on earth has more experience with both ends of it.
I bet you could do a whole podcast on just that.
I lived in CT for years. People who hate this guy don’t know him. Many, many times he’s come to Boston and talked to many fans, signed autographs, had his picture taken with them, given tips to young pitchers. A genuinely great guy.
I'm not surprised that he did not mention Mike Piazza
Dude is asking him a different opponent every 3 seconds
Piazza absolutely owned him
Great interview!
Tony Gwynn Mr.Padre.!
He was a beast in Toronto
Juan Gonzalez had those two huge years in Cleveland he was a rbi machine
Texas Rangers too
Cleveland? Don't remember him there. I remember Rangers and Tigers....guess I'm blanking out.
I love hearing about those field specific nuances like when he’s talking about certain grass or foul areas in different stadiums
This man was my idol growing up. Had his starting line up figure. The ROCKET
Glad to see Gwynn and Boggs get props, Clemens for the HOF
The media chooses to focus on a few athletes in most sports, but the players in those sports know what's going on with everyone.
The fact that Rogers Mom only asked for the autograph of one of probably, if not THE, only player to own her son is actually a sign of deep respect for Roger
Of course he didn’t bring up Piazza batting about .450 off him😂😂😂😂
Bonds, piazza
Great interview, amazing guest!
Always amazing to see Gwynn get his due.
Awesome! Gotta love the Brewers and the Rocket! Yount was the man!
What a story, loved it!
That Griffey Jr. story is hilarious lol
Stop interrupting him after you ask a damn question. smh
Great guy
Your respect for me Tony Gwynn is the reason why I love baseball
Yeah man, Rob really 8:20 was that good. I remember being a kid seeing Robin yount, Paul molitor and bj surhoff at the good ol Milwaukee county stadium. I even got a chance to see frank Thomas play us in 94 I think it was. Didn't get a chance to see griffey until he played in cinci
Ask him about Scott Rolen. HR to win a playoff series. Whoooopsie. Of course Roger should be in the HOF.
This man not being in the Hall of Fame is insane I could count 30 people in the Hall of Fame that have used steroids
Damm straight he belongs don’t care what he took or didn’t take, same for Bonds.
“I don’t give a rat’s ass about the hall of fame.” - Actual quote from Roger Clemens
30 is an under estimate. International players got away with way, way more.
That's no slight to them, its just the standard & bar to get in is, hypocritical
Juan Gone my All Time favorite!!! A mention!!! and you loved Juan Gone too!??!!!!! Im so happy rn! 😂😂
The beef with Clemens is the same as Bonds.
They were both first ballot hall of famers...before the juice.
They're both victims of self inflicted wounds.
If they were sooo good why juice?!
@@CarolCityCane305 They felt they had to because everyone else was. This guy belongs in the HOF. Hes got 350+ wins. 300 game winners are going to become super rare.
So tired of this stupid argument. Baseball is and always has been prone to cheating. There are current HOF's that are well known for their exploits. I'm certain that over half the hitters he faced were doing something. Besides, MLB didn't even start testing for these things until 2003. Such an overblown issue. If the numbers or on field greatness is there, players should get in. That simple. Clemens is simply one of the best to ever do it.
@@jonk9293 they weren't caught.
That's the difference.
@@waynemalford3020 Nate Diaz: "Everybodys on steroids!"
Mr. San Diego ❤
big boi forgot Mike Piazza
Im a Brit, and I have absolutely no clue what the heck this dude's talking about!
You missed out sir :(
I love baseball stories.
Anyone know what clemens wearing on his wrist? Some magnetic / copper tactical thing or something?
Love this. Certainly no shame in giving a couple up to Robin Yount.
His toughest opponent was a piss cup. 😂😂
I never thought I will see a day when I will seek the help of a Sorceress in order to keep my marriage and family together.
@Chris Young Well, I got the help I was seeking from a woman called Luana Kae Branigan she can be of help to you.
Love the rocket 🚀
Rocket points out a lot of little things that affect the game (foul area in stadiums, for example). Great IQ.
LET EM IN!
Toughest opponent= the truth
Dale Murphy
The question I have for Roger Clemens is, "Did you get Robin Yount's autograph for your mom?"
Danville Illinois' finest Robin Yount !!
Props to Clemens for sharing a funny and humbling story about Yount, even though Yount only hit .230 lifetime against him (just looked it up because I was curious).
I loved those old Red Sox teams with Hobson as the manager 😅. Wow it’s so nice to hear Clemens talk pure baseball, we never get to see or hear him cause he’s black listed but he was a GOAT w/o the PEDs!
It’s such a shame that a few years at the end of his career he took banned substances to try and keep up with a younger man’s game, but it erases everything he did as a young man before he touched PEDs 😢
It shouldn't. 9 scattered months of steroid use shouldn't invalidate his whole career.
Roger controlled this entire interview- and made it move maybe one way maybe another - threw one 96 and got us watching
Seriously, he told what he wanted to tell
Hook em 🤘
He seems like a nice guys, down to earth. I hope he’s truly like that 😊
He probably is now, but when he was playing for the Yankees and on the juice he was known to be a diva.
Damn I remember Clemens from the days, how intimidating he was at 6'4 throwing bombs...
Wade Boggs and Gwynn seemed to help hit any pitch at any speed.
If there is one hitter that owned Rodger Clemens it was Mike Piazza
The Rocket 🚀
Trammel and Whitaker hit over .350 against this guy.
He and Greg Maddox are the greatest pitchers to ever do it.
Have you heard of the name Nolan Ryan?
@@eazyb7974 yes. He was a power pitcher than threw nothing but heat. Maddox would paint the corner and throw 1 hitters. Clemens was lights out and is almost 200 games over .500. Oh, no Ryan never won the CY YOUNG. Ever.
You don’t know much about Maddox or Clemens, do you?
@Graymont to Los Angeles You are cute. Weak argument, both Clemens and Maddux played on superstar teams. Ryan had 7 no hitters, 12 one hitters and 5714 life time K's. All while playing on less then 500 clubs.
@@eazyb7974 don’t know much about Ryan, huh genius? You didn’t even know he had never won the Cy Young.
Typical.
@Graymont to Los Angeles Are you slow? You stated that already. I stated that he didn't play on superstar team, therefore it would have effected his win/loss record.
Is your dad home? Put him on and I can discuss how much of a failure his son is.
Miguel Cabrera!!?
Get it on it Netflix
Why tip toe around Mike Piazza 👀?
Should be in the Hall. Everyone was doping
Never like rocket as player mainly cuz he was a Sox but can listen to hear him talk baseball all day
Paul Molitor 1993 world series champion 🏆 with the Toronto Blue Jays
Was that the joe carter wlakoff homerun?
@commiehunter733 Yup, it was. Molitor actually had 3 hits in that very same game 6.
Just how big is Roger going to let himself get??
Dude is a legend, that era he started of Clemens, Maddux, Pedro and Randy was insane.
Legend and here I am working at Wendy’s fml
Him and bonds should be in the Hall of Fame
Hall of Famer !
I wanna know what his Mom said about Mike Piazza.
4" High Grass?
Piazza destroyed him. He hit a ball off his shoe laces out of left center, remember that one Roger
Roger certainly hasn't missed many meals. Geez!!!
Should’ve asked him about Mindy McCready.
Never threw a no-hitter….crazy
Striking out 20 twice is far more impressive
How to ruin an interview-Let Adam talk.
Name 1 player to Play for the RedSox, Yankees & the Toronto Blue Jays
David Cone, David Wells
@BH02377 Now here's a man that knows his baseball.
How about you let one of the best pitchers ever, tell the stories, and don’t spoil them.
Lol, got a Juan Gonzalez rookie card for sale...know you got most of em...lol
Wish I would of kept my Dirtbags jersey.
He dont say a thing about Mike Piazza, but he knows Piazza was as tough as it gets.piazza hit for average and had as much power as anybody.
Mike Piazza owned you
Robin Yount stats are okay, nothing jaw dropping.
Looks like he juiced then just decided to stop moving.
Toughest opponent? Rhode Island 😂
The Rocket would never take a knee for BLM. This is why I loved baseball during the 80s and 90s and you can't pay me to watch it right now.
Never really Been a fan of baseball to boring to watch, was fun playing tho, , o could sit and watch a Yankees game tho
Trot Nixon.
Misremembered
Rocket, were you the one who stopped chewing tobacco & started chewing cherry stems? Was this for medical reasons? What were the medical issues? Did it cure it?
His toughes opponent was father time. That's why he cheated.
He was on steroids in his career. It's sad he took steroids, so he does not belong in the hall of fame.
I absolutely agree but I’m glad I’m old enough to have seen him pitch before the juice….You can say the same about Roger…he was that fucking good
I tell people all the time Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds were first-ballot hall-of-famers before the 98 season. Steroids does not make you a better pitcher or a better hitter you still need talent. There were a bunch of bums back then who were taking roids and didn't amount to Jack shit.
Baseball was so much better in the steroid era.
Kinda random bro but I think it’s slightly suspicious that “find single Ukrainian women near you” over and over I don’t use any dating apps and i am in the mountains down south.. that’s sketchy on multiple levels.. don’t get me wrong the pic is smokin’ hot though I could not verify her place of birth lol but a fresh supply of Ukrainian women jammed down your throat.. yea idk.. I passed one of them on the way to this video on UA-cam
