Thank you so much for a great presentation of your trip. Your videos and photos have such great composition, you truly capture the beauty Alaska has to offer.
This is the third time we have tried whale watching. Once in California and the only one we saw was inside the harbour wall after being out at sea for an hour. In New England we did see some but nowhere near as close as we did in Alaska. The train ride was great too, being able to stand in the open on the end of the carriage gave it a whole different perspective. It’s certainly a cruise to think about doing, and we didn’t think a balcony was worth the extra cost when knowing our luck, any marine like activity would be on the opposite side of the ship.
Thanks for the video,I just reserved my first solo cruise to Alaska in September 2025 ,I traveled for many years with my daughter but now she is in school of medicine so I will start to travel alone.
Hi Lisa, we booked directly with Princess cruises and sailed from Vancouver on a 7 day inside passage trip ending in Anchorage. We only did princesses excursions on this trip as we didn’t have any experience/ knowledge of doing our own thing. There were many independent stands when we got to Juneau so you could safely arrange something on the day if you wanted to.

Wow, the whales were incredible. Alaska is another destination on my list. Very scenic and love the train journey too

We’re sure you will have an amazing time. We made friends with many solo travellers and they had a time
Do you mind sharing what location and tour company you used?
