Cunard Queen Victoria To Amsterdam - Our First Cunard Experience , What Did We Think???
Having never cruised with Cunard before, we took a 4 night mini cruise from Southampton to Amsterdam. In this episode we’ll tell you what we thought of the ship, the food and also review our independently arranged excursions- a canal cruise and a visit to the Anne Frank house/museum.

The Maldron Hotel, Liverpool
Переглядів 1502 місяці тому
We had a 3 night stay at this new hotel, in the heart of of Liverpool city centre. Located opposite the entrance to Albert Dock and a 2 minute walk from Liverpool One, it really is ideally situated if you’re attending an event or just want to shop till you drop. We used the bus to and from the airport as the hotel is sooo close to the bus station and saved a fortune. A taxi would be £25 each wa...

The Maldives Trip You CAN Afford! - Hondaafushi Island Resort

In this episode we look back at our 2022 trip to Hondaafushi in the Maldives. Wee booked this as a package trip through a local travel agent for just under £3,000 for both of us. Part of having such a great price, meant that our flights were split rather than direct. We flew London to Abu Dhabi, after a 5 hour layover it was then on from Abu Dhabi to Mali. There we had a 6 hour layover before o...
Why You SHOULD Book An Alaska Cruise

In this episode we look back at our 2023 cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage (Whittier) taking the inside passage. We'll show you our (not so obstructed) obstructed view cabin, the saving on not having a balcony then enabled us to do some excursions we might not have otherwise done. All the excursions we took were arranged via @princesscruises and really did exceed our expectations. After the cr...

In this episode we docked in Tenerife, the final port of call in the Arcadia 2024 World Cruise. We took an official P&O excursion to Mount Teide national park. Whilst we didn’t take the cable car to the top, the landscape was stunning. Many people say it’s like a lunar landscape and we can see why.
P&O World Cruise 2024 - Cape Town. Seal Island & Groot Constantia Official Excursion

In this episode join us on our full day in Cape Town, South Africa. We chose to do an official P&O excursion to Groot Constantia winery for a wine & chocolate tasting, together with a boat trip to Seal Island (as they labelled it). Unfortunately the seas on route turned out to be too rough to enable us to make the journey to the island, however the boat ride was still great. The winery staff we...

Sailing into Sydney - P&O Arcadia World Cruise 2024
We done the world cruise 2024 on Ambassador Ambiance and are thinking of doing it again in 3 years with P&O thanks for this!
Hi just got a question for you did you have any problems with the date of expire or amount of pages blank on your passports when you were travelling especially South Africa ? We got advice from the accrediting visa company P&O use to say you must have at least 12 blank pages for the World Cruise! Nothing mentioned any where else about it. What trips are you planning for next year? Really enjoy all your videos 😊
Hi Beverley, we had no issues with our passport pages, I’m sure some just make it up 😀. The only problem I had was putting the wrong passport number on my online visa for New Zealand. P&O obviously check everyone has one whilst travelling and I got summonsed to get a new one just before we reached Hawaii. There were lots of people who had got theirs via P&O’s provider and had the wrong one, so had to get a replacement before we got to Hawaii else face having to disembark in Hawaii
@ Many thanks for your swift reply we are applying for our own visas independently .I heard of some running into problems with the visa company before on one of the legs from US to Australia-they seem to be only interested in making money and no advise is given. Safe journeys in the future
How much do P&O charge for this or can you book independently
I’m sure you could book a day pass and a taxi independently. We did it via p and o and paid circa £130 each
Hi, do you have the tour company's information?
Hi Scott we did this one via P&O because the port dock isn’t great for getting anywhere
I meant the land tour company's info.
Hi, just found you and subscribed. Very helpful tips and brilliantly presented thanks. We are planning Southampton to Sydney on Arcadia in 2027. Can you advise of where to find cheaper port trips than the ships own? Also, we use P&O cruise specialists Bolsover Cruise Club and for our cruise their experts advised us the best side of the ship for our cruise was starboard, i wonder if that was better for the Panama Canal, and do you think as opposed to having the sun on your balcony in the afternoon, being warm but in the shade on the starboard side is equally advantageous? Appreciate your thoughts as we are happy to change to the port side on your experience, Peter.
Hi Peter we were port side so that we had more sun as we’re doing a westerly circumnavigation. For the Panama Canal they open a couple of viewing areas on the front of the ship that are usually closed. Equally, for a close up view of how tight it is between the ship and the walls of the canal, take a trip around the promenade deck.
Regarding your world cruise haven’t found any comments on San Francisco or have I missed them? We are in the middle of deciding which trips to order on Arcadia for 2025 some days we will do our own thing but find a lot are already sold out! Was it the same with you? Have loved all your vlogs❤
Hi Beverley, San Francisco wasn’t on our itinerary but we have visited there before. We have a stop there in 2025 before we fly to Hawaii to pick up a cruise. There has been a lot of press in recent months about the high numbers of homeless people there and making tourists feel unsafe walking about. When I asked my nephew who lives and works there, he said it’s not as bad as they make out. You can book your own trips to places like Alcatraz and would definitely recommend going there.
@@TheOversAreOut Thanks for the tips we are going to book Alcatraz independently anyway…. enjoy your trip to Hawaii presume it’s early in the year? Anyway safe journey!
Very boring. I expected a proper talk through, but hardly any, all stills and no commentary. Very boring. Disappointing.
Really nice video of your experiences thanks. But surprised how many people are using phones to record theatre shows. It so offputting for others in the audience and don’t they usually announce not to do that? Hope that isn’t the latest thing to do in terms of norms. Did most people follow the dress code?
Hi and thanks for your questions. The only shows where they said you couldn’t film were the P&O own performers shows and didn’t say that for guest artists. It was annoying when some people sat there recording the whole show. Re the dress code, many did for the formal evening ms, those who didn’t want to dress up, ate in the buffet.
If doing an Eastern navigation would it be better for a port side or starboard side cabin for the sail in
Hi Julie, starboard for an easterly navigation if you want the sun on your balcony.
If doing an eastern navigation would it be better port side or starboard side for the sail in
In our opinion a starboard cabin is better if you’re heading east.
Loved your Utube. We did Adelaide to Southampton in 2014 via the Suez. Now planning Adelaide to Southampton via the Panama in 2026. Also did Sydney to Hong Kong in 2016. Loved Arcadia and I’m sure it will be just as good in 2026
Hi hope you don’t mind me asking a few questions regarding the cabins on D deck on Arcadia, I noticed you was on D deck, we are in D122 for the 2026 world cruise, do the lifeboats impede the view from the balcony, did you find the balcony big enough, also we are not keen on drinking the water from the bathroom for teas we normally buy bottled water but would work out fairly expensive for 100 nights, are there any places we can fill a bottle with water 😊
H Julie, in answer to your questions: no, the lifeboats didn’t hinder our viewing time on the balcony. Because they are at foot level you don’t really notice them. Bear in my that the arm which lifts them out can be seen and it all depends which cabin number you have. The balcony was plenty big enough for the time we spent in it (mainly just before going to dinner). Drinking water, we did use the tap for the kettle but there are water stations in the buffet. You cannot fill it directly (new rules) but they provide a jug to use then that to fill your water bottle. Hope these help, feel free to email us if you have any other questions. Hello@theoversareout.com
Thank you for your reply x
We go for 10 nights next month, can't wait, its for my 50th birthday
Hey, On the non formal nights, were people still dressed up in smart dresses/trousers or more casual in jeans/legging please, also we’re there any theme nights? Thanks
Hi, a lot of people still dressed smart casual on the non formal nights. Those who wanted jeans/ trouser shorts ( as it’s hot) went to the buffet.
We did half world in 2014 from Adelaide to Southampton. Did the 2nd half in 2019 on Sea Princess from Dover to Sydney. Hopefully we will do Adelaide to Southampton in 2026 again on Arcadia. Haven’t watched your video yet as on holiday in Bali but will get to it soon.
I can see my mum too, with her yellow poncho, at the lake with the temples!
I'm booked on the 2025 World Cruise on Arcadia, so this was a great preview! Some of the ports vary but the general feel was excellent. Cheers!
Very interesting adventure Vlog. Really enjoyed watching it
Really enjoyed your blog, I am contemplating a similar trip but finding the logistics of packing very overwhelming. Only criticism of the video was the background music during the opera at Singapore, I found it very intrusive and distracting, Looked like you had a wonderful time, thanks for sharing it
Yes, sorry about that, thought I’d muted it. Packing wasn’t too bad as only cold for the first 7 days then always warm. Recommend a lightweight showerproof coat though
What equipment did you use for video/stills….??
Hi Roger, we use our iPhones and also a GoPro with a clip attachment (to clip it to a rucksack) so it was hands free
Hello! I came across this vlog quite by accident as I am going on Arcadia later this year. What a Joy! I’ve been addicted to cruise vlogs for some years and have many, many subscriptions but I’ve never seen any that are anywhere near as good as yours. THANK YOU so much, so enjoyable!! AT LAST a cruise vlog that doesn’t show multiple meals and drinks and best of all, no narration just leaving the viewer to enjoy the lovely filming. Best ever, now a new subscriber and will watch all your back catalogue. How I’d LOVE to do this cruise. Best wishes.
Thank you Sheila, your kind words mean a lot. We try to keep ourselves off camera and show people the places and give our opinion on the excursions we did. This UA-cam thing is new to us, so we hope to improve even more as time progresses x
@@TheOversAreOut I went straight online to look at the cruise and am thinking of doing it in 2026. thank you so much 😊
Definitely worth doing
I so would love to do a world cruise, those stunning sun sets wow, how long in advance did you book for your world cruise, were the visas etc easy enough to sort, & did you need any vaccinations, is there a better time to book for better deals, sorry for the 20 questions
Hi Julie, we booked almost 2 years in advance but met people who booked very late on and got amazing deals so…. The only visas we’d say to do before are USA (checked on departure) and Aus & New Zealand, the rest let them arrange onboard (which they want to do else you have to prove you already have it). We got Sri Lanka before and didn’t end up going there so money down the pan. We didn’t need any vaccinations. Hope that helps.
@@TheOversAreOut thankfully the Sri Lanka one was free! Just a waste of time. I look forward to watching this, and will see if Mum and I appear anywhere...
Great video! We are booked to go in February next year for 15 nights, What month did you guys go?
We went in May
Thanks for the video,I just reserved my first solo cruise to Alaska in September 2025 ,I traveled for many years with my daughter but now she is in school of medicine so I will start to travel alone.
We’re sure you will have an amazing time. We made friends with many solo travellers and they had a time
The. Like it-very cool !ciao,=)
Thank you so much for a great presentation of your trip. Your videos and photos have such great composition, you truly capture the beauty Alaska has to offer.
Thank you so much, your kind words mean a lot.
Myself and my partner are doing this cruise in January 2025. Roughly how many celebration nights are there that you have to wear black tie for?
Hi, there were just over 14, roughly 1 per week sometimes 2. Black tie wasn’t essential and I didn’t on some of the nights to be honest. The thing to be aware of is that you have to have smart casual (no shorts or collarless tops for men) to go in most venues on those nights.
@@TheOversAreOut thank you so much! Looked like you both had a great time 😊
Do you mind sharing what location and tour company you used?
Hi Lisa, we booked directly with Princess cruises and sailed from Vancouver on a 7 day inside passage trip ending in Anchorage. We only did princesses excursions on this trip as we didn’t have any experience/ knowledge of doing our own thing. There were many independent stands when we got to Juneau so you could safely arrange something on the day if you wanted to.
You are uploading very good content. Best wishes to you. Hope you go far.😊❤
Wow, the whales were incredible. Alaska is another destination on my list. Very scenic and love the train journey too
This is the third time we have tried whale watching. Once in California and the only one we saw was inside the harbour wall after being out at sea for an hour. In New England we did see some but nowhere near as close as we did in Alaska. The train ride was great too, being able to stand in the open on the end of the carriage gave it a whole different perspective. It’s certainly a cruise to think about doing, and we didn’t think a balcony was worth the extra cost when knowing our luck, any marine like activity would be on the opposite side of the ship.
Thanks helen& John very informative also nice meeting you two
Thanks for sharing lots of great information
What was the food you ate? What were the various deserts? Wish I could have actually seen the inside of the restaurant.
I am a new subscriber and I think you are a delightful couple. However, it was difficult to make out what the tour guide was saying. The video would have been much more interesting if the actual park time was less (why not video of the coffee shop?), and you added more video and description of what y'all visited and did in the city. Just tease your viewers with tour information. We really are interested in YOUR experience. Best wishes to you.
Really informative! Have been following brogan tates part world cruise on arcadia so will go watch more of your videos. We're hoping to do NZ,Oz and Singapore (possibly dubai) section in the future so loving seeing what different experiences people had on arcadia
Have a great time you will love Cunard, which ship are you going on ? Carry on cruising
We are going on Queen Victoria, keen to try them and see what we think.
What a trip!! One day we'll do his !!!🤣
We took 3.5 months off work, going back was a killer 🤪
I have enjoyed your world cruise vlogs, it looks like you had a great adventure and time😊. I also see you had a guest appearance on another vloggers videos. I believe it was you walking behind Brogan Tate and her husband when you had to got off the ship to go through immigration at Durban ? Do you have any other cruises booked for 2025? Carry on cruising cheers Neil 😁
Hi Neil, thanks so much for you comments, they mean a lot. We are trying a Cunard cruise later this year and already have Hawaii to Vancouver booked for 2025 then a P&O repositioning cruise from Barbados to Southampton in 2026. In the next few weeks we’ll be looking back at past cruises and making some suggestions
Great info. We are from Aus and considering doing to 2nd half of the 2026 world cruise. We did the 2nd half back in 2014 but tis time it is going the opposite direction. With regard to traditional dining what do you consider the be the advantage/disadvantage between the early and late sittings?
We preferred the early sitting so we could watch the 8.30 pm show and sometimes do a quiz after. We prefer to early so it has plenty of time to digest before we head to bed. We started in flexible dining but found we were often sat at the aft range of tables and the engine noise could make it difficult to have a conversation. We were happy to share a table, but some people got there 45 minutes early so they could get a table for 2 and avoid having to wait with a buzzer. Fixed allowed us to be guaranteed eating when we preferred, with the same dining room team who then knew what we liked to drink etc. After the meal. Hope this helps
Thank you for your truthful and unbiased blogs! We have done legs of world cruise pre covid and now booked on whole cruise next year .I have enjoyed your series of advising trips and now next year they are following the South Africa like this year l am looking forwards to the new itineraries. Good luck in all you do now and enjoy it all! 7:04
Really enjoyed watching the two of you.
Thanks Sharon, stick with us as plenty more videos tonight come including Alaska (which was amazing)
Hi John and Helen thank you for another great vlog, we have followed you from the fireworks on departure day to today. Our plan hopefully is to do a world cruise and this Q and A has answered many questions. Looking forward to more vlogs of your travels 😁😁
Thanks for all your fabulous answers and all the tips 👍 I am booked on the full cruise in 2026 and glad to hear you think Deck 6 is a good one 🥰 My question is, there was mention of some people getting sick, either with flu like symptoms and a nasty cough or norovirus, did you guys have any sick days at all and would you say there was a lot of it onboard? Thanks again
Hi Claire, it wasn’t actually a norovirus but ecoli bug one of the nurses told Helen, picked up from contaminated food taken onboard in Cape Town (hence the volume of people that did gel ill). Helen was unfortunate enough to catch it and it lasted 3 days (there was no sickness). There was a cough onboard from day 1! People referred to it as cabin cough, Helen said that this likely continued as we had new people coming onboard in the different segments and they brought a new one onboard. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any more please ask, and thank k you for your continued support.
@@TheOversAreOut many thanks for clarifying x So glad it didn’t affect your trip and I’m very excited about mine 😀 Thanks again
Hi you two. I was on this cruise too as a solo traveller 😊 I agree that it was a fantastic cruise and I feel very privileged to have experienced it. P&O tenders do leave a lot to be desired… My favourite place was New Zealand. Most memorable was Bitung. Cape Town was the surprising gem in the new itinerary! Stunning place. No need to be bored. Loads to do on board. I’m now booked on the Grand Tour 2026 😊
Thank you so much for your kind comments
100 likes if I could ! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS ! Yes it was the most amazing stop of the lot, the lovliest and friendliest of people. The police were on hand to help us cross the roads too, traffic was manic and everyone slowed down to take a look at us, so funny ! Did you sign autographs for the kids too and have to pose for photos with everyone ?. They were amazing people. I think next year's cruise visits Bitung but not the year after, what a Great Pity. I must say you captured the essence of the farewell so beautifully. Fabulous video and well captured, I watched all your videos and this one is best I think, many thanks again :o)
