I've been thinking of booking an Alaskan cruise for a while now but I'm nervous on what to expect in terms of entertainment and food. Great video the scenery looks breathtaking ❤
The tip about the excursions and ports is a good one! With so many ships coming in I think they may have to switch which ports at the last minute. If you book with the ship, at least you know you are guaranteed to get to/from the ship on time.
Very nice video. I'll be heading there the end of April for an 11 day cruise. I was there back in 1991 and I'm happy to be going back. Last time I went in August and it was chilly and rained every day! I didn't see the sun until the day before the cruise ended, Regardless of the weather, I'm sure it will be wonderful. Thanks again for posting this.
Thank you! I think Alaska is one of the few places that you can never count on the weather to be what you think it will be. Enjoy your trip, I'd love to hear what the weather is like when you go in April.
Is it around trip ? We are going to be in Anchorage Alk On a seven day cruise but we don’t know how to do anything so we gotta turn around and go back to same way we came from we don’t know how to fly there or anything
I’ve been waiting for this video and it did NOT disappoint!! Those excursions looked amazing and is making me want to go visit Alaska. Next time, maybe leave your little bro at home. Although he is handsome, he needs to smile more often to make the R&R trips.
I enjoyed your video so much I got the chance to go to Alaska in August for my 60tbirthday it rained everyday but it was still beautiful. I did the train ride and the salmon bake at Creek Street. I wasn't as venturous to do kayaking
Your video and images are absolutely gorgeous. May I ask if you use a regular camera or just your phone camera and also which brand? Thank you! Your video was great and very informative.
@@RnRquicktrips Thank you so much for the information. Not sure I'm ready to switch to an iPhone after all these years, but our daughter is always insisting we should. I have to say, all her photos are always excellent quality on hers compared to our Samsung. :) Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing this informative n fun video. Loved the info and options you provided. Just wonder what month did you go? Also my friend needs a walker .. do you have any good suggestions what to do? Thank you.
We cruised in July and the weather was all over the place. Talk to the cruise line about your friend's needs - they are very accommodating towards passengers special needs. Many passengers with mobility issues rented motorized scooters from the cruise line.
Never took one I hope I find a good one. I only worry is how to get back to where we started from and if I can’t do that I have to turn around and take a cruise go right straight back to where our cars at twice the Cruise
We are going to Alaska will be in Airbnb July 9- Aug 9 then take a Cruise ship haven’t figured out one yet any good information please share and how confusing it is when you get to the ports to how to get around and how do you know if you got enough time do you leave the ship I’ll look at your other videos thank you for sharing 🇺🇸❤️
It can be confusing. You can check your cruise ship's website to see what excursions they offer and book them in advance or go to www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com to look at excursions. They will help you with booking tours that will get you back to your ship on time. All of the ports that we visited had lovely things to do and see by just stepping off the ship, you don't always need to book an excursion to enjoy the port. Have a great cruise!
Alaska is beautiful. The only downside for me was the "fakeness" of the towns you port in. Lots of jewelry stores sponsored by the cruise lines. Some towns have an air of actors playing a role for the tourists which I found odd. Whale watching and the beauty of Alaska was just amazing.
I agree, the shopping has little to do with Alaska, and the cruise ships push hard to shop at those stores. For us the beauty of Alaska was getting outside the towns and seeing the beauty of nature.
@@RnRquicktrips Real tanzanite is not glass, but is a "conflict" gem. Trade funds/supports various political conflicts, human trafficking, etc., so the real stuff is probably not going to be in tourist shops.
We did, but it was a little bit spotty. We saw two Uber drop offs at the port and grabbed one to get us to the glacier, then made arrangements with the same driver to pick us up 2 hours later.
We cruised in mid July. Weather should be about the same when you go in June, which means some rain, some sun. Be prepared for all weather and dress in layers!
Thanks for sharing this nice video! We are going in September and we plan to visit Mendenhall glacier in Juneau too. Was it easy to get an Uber and did you just ordered your ride from the Uber app when you got to the port? We are thinking of booking a cab in advance but it would be more flexible if we can just use Uber on the spot, in case there's any changes to our port arrival/departure.
Uber in Juneau was tricky. The wifi was poor and we had trouble using the app. We got lucky because an Uber driver was there dropping someone off and we were able to grab it. If you want to make sure you have a driver when you arrive you will probably want to order a cab.
Notice how Royal gets the worst dock locations and Holland America gets the best locations. This is why you want to do Holland America to Alaska. Royal cannot even go to Glacier Bay.
That is true, we were planning on booking Holland America or Princess for that reason - they have priority over Alaskan routes. We ended up booking RC because we found they had the best price.
Royal CHOSE not to go into Glacier Bay. They were in the bid for limited access to the National Park. There are strict environmental conditions, including not burning bunker fuel and using scrubbers. RCCL chose to not pursue the permits. You can make your own assumptions, but it sure looked like they weren't willing to clean up their operations for the time they would have been in Glacier Bay.

I agree, lesson learned about researching ports and excursion pick ups.

This is terrific!! Thank you for posting

It's even more beautiful in person!
Alaska is magnificent. If you can visit, please do👍😃 I have been twice. I refer the Holland Cruises. The excursions they offer are so much better.

I came from Japan to watch your video (^^)/
Alaska is very difficult to go to from Japan, so I enjoyed your video(^^)/
Thank you so much! Alaska is so unusual. I would love to visit Japan some day.
Thanks for sharing the video. We're going this June. One question, once you're in the glacier, how much does the ticket cost?
The Mendenhall Glacier is $5 to enter. Have fun!

Yes. Ignore all the tanzanite scams.tanzanite is blue glass
@@paulgerrard9227 Is it really? They were pushing that hard on the cruise. 😄

So do you have mobile reception at mendenhall to get an Uber?

what date you went on and what ship? thanks for the info we are booked for2024
We went in mid-July. We were on Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas. Enjoy your trip!
What time of yr did you sail
We went in mid-July and experienced rain, wind, cold, sun and mild temperatures all in one week. Layered clothing is the key!
$75 for a lb of king crab.😯 Ah, the good old days. $100 this year. 😞
That is crazy. And there is always a line to get in to eat that crab!

Alaskan cruise doesn't look fun.
The cruise was lots of fun, Alaska is so unique. The two downsides are 1. It's very cold 2. It's very expensive.
The only thing I'm looking forward to is hiking and eating. The 4 wheeler or Segway might be fun.
@@donnalichtfuss7527 There are so many options for hiking, including on the glacier. Have fun!

I agree, not sure who travels to Alaska to buy jewelry, but apparently lots of people do. Alaska's nature and scenery can't be beat!
