Good info, thanks, love my IC-7300, amazing HF radio for its size. Have been operating totally portable/mobile for years, I use home made magnetic loops and have had really good luck with noise & signals with the 7300.
How long are your rails? I'm trying to set up a mobile install for the 7300 but don't have a radio in hand, and the spec sheets don't give the "protrusions" measurements, only the case at: 9.45×3.7×9.37". Thanks!
great vid as always! I also have a 7300 and love it! I am glad to know that there is starting to be a few accessories being offered now. Thanks for the heads up on Portable Zero too! Great work! 73 KA0RSN
Great setup for a top-notch rig! I only wish that they would have added 2 meters and 70 cm to the IC-7300. Lots of folks are opting for the Yaesu ft-991A because it has them. All things being equal, the Icom would be a no-brainer for me. -- 73!
THAT is very cool! Thanks for sharing. I'll definitely check out that IC-7300. What made you get that radio as opposed to some other one? I really like that built-in "waterfall" display deal, too. Please keep up the good work!
The IC-7300 is the next evolution in HF radios. While I really like the IC-7200 and please that Icom has announced it's return, the IC-7300 waterfall is a great feature. The radio also has an internal antenna tuner which is nice to have.
@@Commsprepper will have to get used to it maybe the fun of having contacts will outweighs that part but it would be impossible to take it to the mountain backpacking in the desert for 5 miles gaining 2000 feet of elevation, carrying it besides 32 pounds of gear! would be only usable in a canoe trip without portaging fitted into a go box made by pelican which it would be very heavy even to carry in a canoe; everything I have is lightweight; seems this hobby it is almost impossible to go lightweight; that is my only gripe; I love the radio and your video!
@@Commsprepper just got them they look great on the radio. My to go box with this radio weights about 40 pounds but all needed fits into a 1510 pelican Case with wheels so will never take it backpacking but it can be mobile for a picnic or car camping, even a canoeing trip without portaging comes to mind.
quick question. Love your hard case that secures your 7300, but is there any concern of putting it in the stryo foam padding without any electrostatic protection? Great vid!
I have no idea. I think it's a 1410 or something that's 12x8x8. I have various ones.
I ended up getting the Wimo rails from DX Engineering. What Pelican case are you using?
No need to apologize for the other content; I love the solar project vids. Thanks for all your videos!
Thanks. that solar power project has dragged on forever now. I need to get that done!
It has been of great learning value here in earthquake country!

What model case is that. Thanks
Not sure. I may be an Apache from Harbor Freight.

Not sure and I don't have the radio handy right now to measure.
thanks for putting your knowledge in videos sir much appreciated
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Got a 7300 myself and will be going portable to find a less noisy environment. Looking forward to mor 7300 videos outside.
Ham radio is best in the field.

I prefer to have separate gear for each band. Lose one rig you are still on the air.
Definitely agree, but always happy with redundancy. ;)

The internal antenna tuner is NICE - this avoids having to lug around the extra piece of apparatus.
I ordered the portable zero brackets for my 7300, but he doesn't seem to have the handles in the store anymore. I am trying to find alternatives.
Sorry - I don't know of another source.
I like the box and rails. looking forword to a DXpedition with the ic-7300.
Me too! Thanks for watching.
I put the ICOM handle on both this and the 9700. With the rails fit over the handle?
Not sure - I don't have that model radio.
i love when “portable” means driving out to a location not far from a road. Would be crazy to pack this tank and battery up a trail.
The 7300 isn't particularly heavy for a 100W HF rig
I would like it better if it does not add more weight for field carrying..otherwise it is awesome! 73, KI7CSI
Carrying the radio is the RTOs job :-)

I got the pelican box for the 7300 and now adding these rails will really pimp it out
Sounds like you like the radio. It's a great radio.
Which Pelican case?
@CommsPrepper Which Pelican Case is that?
I don't remember. I now use a Harbor Freight case which is just like the Pelican.

I had not thought of that but I am not worried.
It's not polystyrene foam but probably an open cell polyethyline, possibly already antistatic treated.
Very practical and useful
for sure. Thanks for watching.
where do you get surplus pelican cases??
Dave Phelps ebay

Of course, eBay. That model looks like it fits like a glove - what model is it?
