Hey man when you said it struggled at the bottom of the 40 meter band, it probably would have tuned. ...i noticed you hit the transmit button on accident instead of the tune button
Great video, I'd love a little more explanation of the power setup, if you needed to ground it, etc. I use an FT-891 for my mobile use (POTA) but have thought about bringing my IC-7300 out because it sits on my bench at home, where I never really play radio. At home I need the radio to be grounded or it doesn't work right - is this a concern for mobile? Is powering it from battery as easy as getting a plug that goes to Anderson PowerPole or will I need an intermediary? Thanks and 73!
Thank you so much for the comment and regarding the power I just have a leisure battery in the boot 110mah it's more thanenough but lasts for many weeks
Thanks Chris , always love your videos , I’m mobile today with my iC 7300 and two mono band antennas 20/40, like you I have a zero noise spot I go to .. it’s brilliant isn’t it, best wishes mate . Patrick M7PJD
Thanks Pat nice to hear from you. I was in my mobile on my break and I got into Australia from UK on 20 m. About 9:30am. It was really easy. Conditions are great, and with low noise, you hear everything.
Hi Chris , using a mono band Diamond for 20 meter I got Australia and NewZealand ON Saturday Morning , zero noise , clear as a bell, I was given a 5/8 from both .. unbelievable, we love radio mate , all the best Chris . M7PJD
Hi, Chris. I got a call this afternoon from the local radio dealer that my 705 will ship in a month or two, so will be joining the HF world very soon. I can only do voice and digital on 10 meters for now though (as far as HF anyway), til I upgrade to General Class. How popular is 10 meters in the UK? Good video as usual! 73.
Hey all - looking for some advice on getting a beginner cb set up at home. Any suggestions on what to get started with? Thanks very much and excellent channel :)
I have tried a similar set up but with a 40 meter ham stick. I had a hard time tuning. I switched to a tri-mag mount, and it tuned much more easily. I think you need more of a ground. Try it out for yourself and see if tuning is easier. It was for me.
Not sure if you are using single mag mount or tri mag mount. Check out waters and Stanton site. You will get better ground to car. Or try a boot latch, bracket with metal strip that can go on car and not damage it. That is a proper metal to metal ground connection.
Thanks for the the suggestion and nice to see you you in the comments again. I have had a a boot mount before. In the video it was a single mount but I do have a triple mount that needs repairing.
you probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother for the last days :)

Chris, forget about your mobile radio equipment and put your steering wheel back on the correct side first :)
Good video, thanks
Ha ha, very funny, I was wondering where this was going. Thanks for watching mate
I appreciate the time you took to explain all these setups and how it works!

10 m is ideal for local sideband communication. It is used a little bit but mainly for long distance which is a shame
Where is the power source located?
I have a leisure battery in the boot it works for weeks and weeks

Good contacts, radios and setup ideas. You had a ftm300 before right? Ftm 400 is a nice rig as well.
Never had a 300 mate. Thanks for the comments
@@digitalanaloguehamradio ok right when you were going for one you decided on the 400.
@@jss672006 yes I weighed up the odds and preferred the larger touchscreen
Thanks for sharing this. I am a new ham and have been thinking of getting a 7300 for both mobile and home use. Looks like it would be a good choice!
Yes it’s dead easy, I’m glad it’s got you thinking. Are use a leisure battery in the boot and it avoids having to permanently wire it up
Very wonderful information to use by VU3HTG RAVIKUMAR NAIK CHAWHAN PUNE, 73 TO ALL
Thanks for the comment mate
When things cool down, will be back out with my IC700, matching ATU, voltage booster and all..
Good man 😌 a lot of fun

@Allan Junior Yea, have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
Hi Chris! Nice contact. What antenna is that one?
It was probably using a ham stick. They are quite efficient
