Ryan, I have taken a number of 3,000 mile trips in my 2020 LR Model Y. Driving at the speed limit I average about 220 watts/mile. Usually with a 90% departure state of charge I drive about 220 miles before I stopping. After driving this leg I usually have arrival state of charge of 19%-23%. This is as mentioned driving speed limit, an ambient air temperature of 68 - 82 degrees Fahrenheit, operating in FSD, no jack rabbit starts and no high speed passes. In conclusion, I can easily reach the original factory estimate if I do not drive crazy....

Bear in mind that Battery PACKs can be replaced because the management software is bleating about a potential issue or other. There are thousands of cells and many other parts. If it even looks like something might be wrong, they replace the whole pack, take it apart, check and refurbish. Battery pack replacement as a percentage is extremely low, especially for Tesla, but it is possible there was some similarity in your battery pack batches or production method prompting a swap out.

As long as that is taken care of it will be great.. That or LFP would be my choice... LFP actually would be best for me.. more robust and longer lifespan.

I would love it if they made a full model 3 hatchback lineup just like the model y. rwd, lr, and performance trims.
It would probably be the perfect combination but I really, really worry though.
1, I hope it is dimensionally similar to the model 3 so it doesn't look like a squished model 3, like the model y looks like a bloated model 3.
And 2, I hope they make the hatchback design, akin to a typical hatchback with a more upright rear end design, and NOT a sloping roof like the model y. If they did, it would basically be the same car as the model 3, but better and cheaper. So I hope they differentiate it with a more upright, hatchback or shooting brake design.

The 8 year, 150k mile power train warranty runs out in October 2024. The car has been completely trouble free. The trade in value is only $9,000, so rather than trading it in before the warranty ends, I’m going to just keep driving it until the battery fails, then sell it to an auto recycler, like Peddle, that will still give me $5,000 for it in a non-functioning state, hopefully when it has 200k miles or so on the clock.

After just 46,000 miles and 4 1/2 years of ownership, last week Tesla service advised me against driving my car as the HV battery was about to fail. It is now at the service centre awaiting a replacement HV battery. Tesla provided a Loaner car (awful experience due to arguments/charges over existing damage). But my main concern is the potential poor standard of the replacement refurb battery, the lack of extended warrantee (it will still be based on my car's age and total mileage) and the potential cost of a future out of warrantee replacement if it fails again. Tesla say it would cost just under GBP £20,000 ($25,000). More than the value of the car which, by the way, is dropping like a stone!
I am now questioning the value of EVs. The batteries can be unreliable and expensive to replace. When the HV battery fails, the Tesla warrantee does NOT cover a new replacement battery. Apparently, the chance of receiving an unreliable replacement battery under warrantee is high because they are refurbished from a previously failed battery. Therefore the seemingly generous 120k mile warrantee may be a sticking plaster. Now that my head is full of all these concerns, I will not buy another Tesla.
Currently, I am concerned my car will become a worthless risk as soon as the warrantee period is up in 2027, just 3 1/2 years from now.
I would love to hear some battery fail/replacement stories good or bad.
I have been very careful with my charging habits since owning my car from new and diligently followed the 80/20 rule charging mostly at home

I do not know anything about car paint or body work when it comes to cars, but I personally would love to be able to factory order brighter colours like, Green, Blue, Yellow... too many dark and dull cars these days. That was something very different in the 70-80s, and since its a personall preference, it should not be an issue to offer brighter colours. Like I said, I do not know aynthing about painting cars, so it could have to do with a technical reason. I can imagine its too expensive to offer such a variaty.
