Tyler does occasionally make more serious music but he is known as a bit of a comedian. He was the leader of hip hop collective ODDFUTURE & they used to have a comedy sketch show.
His music can be very personal but he usually tells it through characters. This song is off probably his most critically acclaimed album IGOR and follows a narrative of Tyler (who is openly bi) aka Igor falling in love with a guy but the guy has a girlfriend and it's essentially a story about Tyler getting his heartbroken.

He's mentioned it on Twitter about how he had tried to come out before. A bunch of his friends Freddie Gibbs, Lil Yatchy, Westside Gunn have all pretty much said he is. He asked his fans to go out and vote in the last election one of the reasons being he enjoys being able to "f whoever he wants". He's talked about it seriously on 3 albums now (Garden Shed/November, all of IGOR, Massa) the only thing I am assuming is that he's bi seeing as he could be pansexual.

The song that really shocked the media and gave him world wide attention was Yonkers. I find all his albums beautifully in their own creative way. But his song Yonkers, from his first album Goblin, took flight when it dropped.

Tyler just wishes he could sing. He has a deep voice he's said he doesn't like. But lately he's been listening to artists from the past that have managed to sing amazingly with a deep voice. So he uses effects to achieve a high pitch. It doesn't sound super technical and clean but he's choosing to experiment with it

Yeah Tyler is a nut. lol. Really goofy guy. He loves to have fun and play around with his music. But when he really gets serious, he’s one of the most talented artist in the game and has been for a long time now. He can pretty much do whatever in his music and people will love it.

hi. i just saw this and i love your reactions!!! i definitely recommend the artist jid!!! he is a lyricist and a fast paced rapper that has an unorthodox style. but i recommend ededdneddy, slick talk, off da zoinkys, or baptize because he tells stories thru those or raps about the title of the song or personal stories. he even has made songs with j cole and jid is signed to j coles record label Dreamville. Even made songs with Doja Cat who i see you checked out for one of your first reaction vids and it’s called Options. But i’d really like you guys to react to him and see what y’all think!!!! :)

Fun facts about this song: the rap part when Tyler was playing the pions was Playboi Carti and the background vocals are from Charli Wilson. And that’s not his hair, it’s a wig haha. He plays here his alter ego IGOR from his album called IGOR.
You guys should definitely check out his other songs. I would recommend you his Grammy performance of NEW MAGIC WAND. It’s s really good and he shocked the whole public. (He also won the Grammy for rap album of the year that night for IGOR which isn’t even considered a rap album by hisself haha)
