I have done a fair amount of nib swaps. Lining up the flat part of the feed with the assembly or section can be a bit tricky. I have found the if a gently twist the feed around the assembly or section, it will slide in when the feed matches the flat part of the assembly / section. On my Pineider the flat part on the section is located within the section and is not at the opening.
Swapping nibs from different manufacturers can also be tricky as the construction/ curve of the nib can be different. I found that out when I swapped a Jowo nib for a Bock in one of my pens. It can be done with effort but the result may not be what you expected. This may have happened with you in this demonstration.

The thing I love most about fountain pens are nib swaps so always love to see them :)

Great video Gary! I'm forever changing nibs. My current favorites are a Jowo #6 1.1mm stub and a TWSBI (close enough to a #5 as used in the Go) 1.1mm stub. Ive used multiple nibs of both in many different pens and find them to be very smooth - other brands are often scratchy!

Thanks for a very good video. Informative and pleasant. But what I miss is how you choose the right size of the nibs that you buy. I have e.g. a Jionhao 100 and a Jinhao 9019 that I intend to replace the original nibs on. The latter has a significantly larger nib. I can't possibly choose the same nib for both of these. Or am I wrong?

The size has to do with the width of the nib where it is inserted into the section.
I believe the size is the mm width of that, so #6 is 6mm. There are also some slight differences within the same nib size. Bock and Jowo nibs have slightly different shapes from each other.
I've added a future video idea to explore this in more detail.

I have swapped nibs (broads and mediums, mostly) in a bunch of Jin Hao pens, though I think their(JinHao) nibs have been improving recently. Some of my older JH nibs are very dry -- often with tines too close. So there is some work to get them to write their best. Almost no crisp italics work for me, but some (not all) cursive italics work for me.

I used to swap my Jinhao X750 nibs to Bock 1.1 stub nibs.
Jinhao nibs are the easiest nibs I have swapped. Great video Gary
