I was blessed by the discussion and the principles behind giving that were brought out. I would like though to raise a few points: - When Abraham was blessed spiritually by Melchizedek, he gave 10% (his heart was inspired by God to give 10%). And Abraham is our father and a model in the faith - Jesus advised the pharisees to practice righteousness without neglecting tithes - when God gave wisdom to Joseph about how to handle famine in the 7 years, the Egyptians were to save 20% of their harvest. It was not legalistic, but it was divine wisdom. - Jesus taught (from the giving of the poor widow) that the giving that moves God is not what we can give being very comfy after we've met all our needs and desires, but a giving for God's work despite our needs (the very essence of "sacrificial giving"). A person can give after all his needs are met, but a person who wants to honour God with his giving can decide to reduce his needs so that he has more to give for God's work, because he believes that the advancement Kingdom of God is very important to God. - Jesus taught that our hearts follow our treasure. So where I put my treasure, there my heart will go. If a believer wants his heart to be heavenly-minded, he should give consequentially for God's work, in a way that he will consider as investing his treasure. - General financial wisdom in the world teaches us that a man should save 10 - 20% of his income (that is, reduce his needs so that he is able to save that percentage). If the wisdom of the world advises that, and we consider that heaven is our final home where we need to invest our treasure, should we invest less than that in heaven? Should our "righteousness" (right way of doing things) be less than that of those who don't know God? - one of the panelists said that as a pastor he is not interested in what and how people give. I understand the principle: he wants not to be biased by it, and be able to love and minister to everyone (including correction/rebukes) without being influenced/morally corrupted. But if as a pastor he is sincerely interested in the wellbeing and blessing of his people, and God has promised to bless those who give to His work, is it correvt not to encourage and check that the largest number of people under him give (not like policing, but with love)? If as a "pastor" of someone I don't feel free to give him godly advice on financial management and blessing (because I'm afraid he may think I'm interfering in his life), then I'm not his pastor, I'm just at best the leader of the church he attends. Is the pastoe not supposed to show the sheep the way and to lead her to green pastures (because the sheep does not know it)? I strongly believe we can always increase how much we give for God's work, and we can do it even without our income increasing, but deciding to follow the example of our Lord Jesus and the first believers: reducing our needs, living very simply. And I believe a good starting point will be 10% with the possibility to grow (not because of a "law"), but as an intelligent decision to love our Lord with our finances. The bible encourages us to follow the example of those before us, as we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses. And Abraham for me would be a good example, the father of faith who gave 10% without being compelled but as a response to God for the great spiritual blessing and promotion he had received from Melchizedek (who reveiled to him God as El shaddai). Stay blessed all.
It's common for people to confuse a biblical tithe with "giving". Biblical, systematic (required) tithes were compulsory submissions of consumable items specifically purposed towards the Levitical theocracy, the poor (every 3 years), and the festivals. They were really taxes under Mosaic Law, only not received as money, although it's evident money was widely traded and wages were earned during those times.
God has blessed us abundantly. God expect us to give willingly so that the gospel of Christ can reach the people of the world. Go and reach and understand the Bible
Following my previous post: - the host said that as a family they prayed with his wife and God led them to set a basic percentage of 10% and more as God leads them. I believe this is very good, a model to follow. And as a pastor, would it be incorrect if you tell to those whom God has given you as flock, who have accepted you as their pastor and believe that God will lead and bless them through you: "this is how God has led me in this. Follow my example as I am following God's leading" (as Paul said to the churches under him)? I believe it's entirely correct. For those who may be offended by that, they are not your sheep, just church attendants. And it's OK - Finally, the example of the Macedonians, I would like to draw attention to the fact that this was a special giving for a specific situation, and there was certainly also the normal giving of the church apart from that (for the needs of the local church). Putting both together, I'm sure the Macedonians gave far more than 10%. People of God, be encouraged to give! And men of God, beware of how you use the giving of God's people, for they give not to you but to the God they love, and you're just stewards who should use it the way God prescribes and leads. God bless you abundantly
These people do not know anything about the true Hebrews they teach they are white when the pyramid walls say otherwise. The bible clearly says the people today aren't Jews Revelations 2:9, 3:9 Acts 7:43.
THANK YOU JESUS for ALL those who address this matter about "Tithes". This is one of the most "controversial" subjects. It's interesting about 40 or so years ago ministries whether in person, on the radio and/or Cable survived without the flock being "FORCED" to pay tithes and offerings.and many still are surviving and have been in ministry for over whosoever some 25, 30, 40, 50 and more years. They only asked for "DONATIONS and/or FREEEEEEEEEEEEE WILL OFFERINGSSSS. "HOW" did they survive for yearsssssssssssssss WITHOUT "DEMANDING the flock pay "Tithes AND Offerings. This is one of those"Other Gospels", "The Prosperity Gospel" that Apostle Paul talked about and they, whosoever preached any other Gospel, even an angel he said let "them be ACCURSED"!!!! Galatians 1:8-9
AMEN 👌 I left a certain church years ago where I was very unhappy ...stayed home for years and it was during that period that GOD came through for me and my children in a HUGE way. We serve a jealous GOD and I am still walking with GOD alone and only SUBMIT to HIM. 💕👸👑❤
I WAS A MEMBER OF THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST WHO SPOKE AGAINST THEIR EXPECTATIONS OF THE POOR IN THE CHURCH. I AGREE THAT PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BE PRESSURISED TO GIVE A 10% TITHE AND OFFERINGS TO A FELLOWSHIP (A BUILDING). IF THERE ARE STRUGGLING FAMILIES I DO NOT SEE WHY WE CANNOT BLESS THAT PERSON WITH THE TITHE OR WHATEVER WE CAN AFFORD. I DISAGREE WITH THE CHURCH ENRICHING THEMSELVES WITH THE MONEY OF THE POOR. TIMES ARE TOUGH AND THERE ARE PEOPLE LIVING FROM THE HAND TO THE MOUTH. GIVING SHOULD BE SEEN AS NOT ONLY MONEY BUT MAKING TIME FOR THE SICK AND HELPLESS ...GIVING A HAND WHERE NEEDED OR ASSISTING SOMEONE IN SOLVING A PROBLEM. THAT TOO IS TITHING. THE MEGA CHURCHES ARE THE MOST WEALTHIEST INSTITUTIONS WHEREBY PASTORS LIVE LIKE CELEBRITIES WHILE THERE ARE SO MANY POOR RIGHT UNDER THEIR NOSES. THERE ARE MORE POOR PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD AND THE WORD OF GOD DISTINCTLY ADMONISH US TO TAKE CARE OF THE POOR AND WIDOWS. THIS IS WHY I REFUSE TO SOW MY LITTLE I HAVE TO A CHURCH BUILDING.
1. tithes is for the jews in the old testament. The jews now do not require its members to tithe, so why are Christians requiring their members to tithe? 2. The NT says that "you must decide in your heart how much you give".
The bible slso says God loves a cheerful giver, snd I am not hearing to much of that in these comments. also he who sows sparringly will also reap sparingly
Give from your heart ❤️ don't be reluctant because someone else is paying tithes. In other words if you😮 don't want to pay tithes or give a offering "(DON'T)" simple as that. Amen it doesn't take rocket science.
Hey brother I agree with whoever this guy is I have had I pet peeve about this idea for 30 years at least any way it becomes a conflict of interest for a pastor to hound on this ali the time it has to be free will or your just paying and not giving but we have to get to this understanding though much prayer etc
What many Christian’s miss and a lot of people as well is that everything belongs to God. All that is in the world and universe belongs to Him. Everything was made by Him and for Him. By His infinite mercy and grace he allows us to use the things we have while on this Earth. Our houses, cars, toys, money etc all belongs to Him. God promises that when we give and not begrudgingly He will give back to us packed down, pressed together and running over. It’s not just about giving money but giving of,our most precious commodity our time to the Lord. It’s all about our heart and why we give. If we say in our heart we will give X then we should give X. To me 10 percent is the bare minimum as we should give much more to God. It’s all about faith and having faith God will take care of you when you give back to the Lord.
Giving God? Have you ever met Him? Jesus said "give God what belongs to God and to Caesar what belongs to Caesar." According to Jesus money belongs to Caesar hence we should pay money to Caesar. Notice that nowhere in scripture does God demand money. He only demands the things He created, agricultural things.
@@npzwane9331 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. Are you giving humbly, generously, and with the proper attitude? Ask God to speak to your heart regarding your giving habits. Then listen and obey.
The tithes, the 10% belongs to oneself. The giving is within your gates liked the Levites. Not outside your gates. If we obey the law of God, there will be less poor people around us. The missionaries are outside our gates. If we concentrate the giving inside our gates, God will prosper us. The church building limits us. We are the church not the building. We have to pay our own way just liked Christ said. We have to stop writing our own laws. Stop telling people that we have to give because the church buildings needed to pay its bills and the pastors. No one, not one disciple, not even Christ built a building to collect money from the people. I hope this will help someone.
Read Deuteronomy 14:22-29. The 10% is for ourselves except the 3rd year. Every 3rd year is for the storehouse for the poor people. You give it to oneself until you can get to the point you can give it to anyone who is poorer than oneself. May God bless you.
Mathew 23 23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. ...the last part there. What do we say?
How do you understand malaki 310 i all ways knew that these or some of these preachers was exploiting and robing the poor dul and ignarent people in they churchesthat is full of wicked leaders BUT JESUS IS GOING TO GIVE TO EVRY MAN HIS JUST REWARD stay safe in JESUS etc .
I believe as Malachi was a Prophet...& was prophesying (into 'our' future as well as the lives of people then), that if we l9ve God & want to 'give' to God then we wont hold back! Because no one can outgive God! HE wants to bless us & we should also want to see His kingdom come & have GREAT success! With His will being done on earth as it is in heaven.. you can't do anything for God without money! If you want to give someone a Bible, you need money. If you want to show the love of Jesus by buying them food & clothing, you need money. If you want to visit someone you need money for a bus, a car, a taxi..whatever. If you want to ring someone to tell them about Jesus, you need money for a phone & to pay the bill. If you want to bring someone to the church, the Church has to pay for the electricity, the rates, the insurance, cleaners, seating, etc etc etc. Nothing is able to be done without money....so let's give!
@@petermakiwa7503 This is scripture the tithe preachers abuse a lot. Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees about hypocrisy or tithes how ironic that very few people actually tithe even in the arm twist or Bible twist churches.
Very good lesson.Cheerful giving is commanded in the New Testament under the Law of Christ.but there is no such thing as a Tithing system in the New Testament (that was only under the Law of Moses and was only restricted to yearly giving of agricultural produce or the beasts of the field.but never money)
The Jewish tithe was not intended to pay for upkeep of the temple ,it was for the levites to be their inheritance from the promised land because the levites were to tend to the worship at the temple
First it’s taught in the Old Testament, it was more like tax . We must understand how much tithing was and for what it was taken. In N T we belong to God , and so should be given for expansion of the kingdom, to take the poor, widow, orphans.
The new testaments is the same as the old testaments. Matthew 5:17, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. Just liked Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts and in their minds, I will write them." 17, Then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." These statements are not excuses to commit sins and lawlessness. These statements are there for us to obey God faithfully forever and ever. If there's a misunderstanding on the statements, it was one's misunderstanding not God's. Because God's word is truth forever and ever.
Tithe is part of your faith in God and putting Him first before money which belongs to Him. Everything you receive you receive from God. The poor and needy do not tithe bc they can’t, but they are helped by the tithe. Churches do put too much on tithe and not on God. I been to many churches and the sermons are more money focus then Christ focus. I went to a church recently that told their members to give them their children’s inheritance. This is unholy. Laws of God are not abolished and in obedience you live by faith.
All in NT Teacings it's all about Love..Hope in God's provision and promises..Abiding in the Law of Faith is to commit and submitting your body, soul and spirit for God's Glory!
@@michaelmerck7576 The old Testament has been fulfilled by Jesus on the cross ...we are no longer under any law. What if you don’t have any income and you’re literally living on a prayer? What then? I’ve been a Christian for just a little over a year and it appears that God is literally stripping me of everything. I have so that I can rely solely on Him. I always have the most shinking and uncomfortable feeling when they pass the basket around.
I totally understand you! I was in the same position as you barely 3 months ago and you know what, as painful as it is, I told myself "I am alive and God is not done with me!". I would take that basket and pass it on. The Lord knows your journey. Take heart.
I understand that we place so much value in giving money but it's not all about money. We can give to God in many other ways like our time, volunteer to do things at the church or help others out.
I want to correct people out there who says the Seventh Day Adventist because of sister Ellen G. White an inspired woman of GOD who started the Saturday keeping church. I still visit the Church occasionally and the only faults I find with the Church is that the Holy Spirit is absent and they haven't moved on or grown spiritually. Through the years many people had left and joined other faiths. The SDA church emphasises too much on keeping the Sabbath Holy when in actual fact no one can possibly do that excepting the Jews. The SDA church has split through the years because there were people who had a problem with the teachings of Ellen G White. I personally haven't read her books but my mom did and to my knowledge so many other Bible Scholars of other denominations have praised her for her inspired messages. Ellen White did not claim to be a Prophetess it was the Church who labelled her as such. She is only human and can make mistakes too but that doesn't mean that GOD did not inspire her. The SDA churches do not focus so much on her teachings but preach from the Bible and have lesson studies from the bible. I am what I am today because not only what I learnt in the SDA church but from other Protestant and Charismatic Churches. There is not ONE I repeat not ONE Church on the planet earth who does what pleases GOD. Seventh Day Adventists are very blessed and I do not find any other fault with the church. Correction: first sentence ..."because of Ellen White the church is called a "cult" There are worst sins being committed in other Prosperity Churches like looting...sexual abuse...racism...adultery. so at the end of the day I can safely say ALL DENOMINATIONS ARE CULTS. That is why I refuse to belong to any particular fellowship for I AM THE CHURCH....THE BRIDE👸😇 OF CHRIST👑👐💕💖💗💞💓
New Testament mentions nothing on Christians having to pay tithes. Jesus and His disciples never paid tithes neither did they instruct anyone to do so. Where is tithing taught in the New Testament? There is no scripture whatsoever in the New Testament asking Christians to tithe. When Jesus once referred to the practice, he was talking about Pharisees who were still under the Law of Moses and not about New Testament believers.
Yes, WE SHOULD GIVE PRIVATELY, BUT GOD WAS TALKING TO THE RICH TO GIVE TO THE POOR, NOT THE POOR TO GIVE TO THE RICH. WHEN THE POOR GIVE TO THE RICH, OR THE RICH OPPRESSED THE POOR, THEY BOTH SHALL BE IN WANT. that's text was taken from PROVERB.
Not in the new testament God loves a cheerful giver, not a tithe payer who has to give under necessity, tithe does not put you in God's will, the Temple was supported by gifts and offerings until it was destroyed, not by tithes. That should correct the requirements for tithes
No it has nothing to do with faith in God if anything it's the opposite because the tithe had to be implemented to insure the other tribes contributed to the levites as God knows the heart of man cannot follow the law on its own
Deuteronomy 14:22-29, the tithes. Verse 26, you shall spend for whatever your heart desires...before the Lord your God. And you shall rejoice, you and your household. 27 "you shall not forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no part nor inheritance with you. 28 "at the end of every 3rd year, you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates. Giving is different than tithing.
The church of Christ starts when Jesus Christ resurrection those churches are acts, Romans, Ephesians,1&2corinthians etc so in those churches when you read there is no one who gave and who requested for the tythe. Those who are requesting for the tythe are false prophets, teachers, whom Jesus called thieves. If you want blessing then we get from Jesus Christ. Deuteronomy is the testimony of the old agreement btn God and the people of Isrealites even not with the Gentiles.
Even I started to a church that teaches tithes, I never teach tithing to the congregation because teaching it is an act of rebellion to God because Christians are not Jews.
Tithing is not even a law coming from God, it was a pagan practice during the Genesis time. It was a vow of Jacob to give tithe so the whole tribe was compelled to do so because it was a vow made by Jacob a.k.a Israel. Tithes are for Jews and not for Christians Jews today do not give tithes because there are no priests today nor Levites, because it was a law of God to give the tithes only to the Levites, who belong to the tribe of Levi, wherein Aaron was appointed priest because both of his parents belong to the tribe of Levi. If tithing is a law for the Christians, how come Paul the apostle never teach about tithing. He said about giving freely, for he said that God loves a cheerful giver.
Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. To Caesar is to Government regarding taxes and to God is emphasizing about the 10% as written in Malachi 3:10. Now, how can anyone argue with that passage? Do have any idea to twist this truth? Once you do it do you think God will still bless you? Now how can you be called Christian? Christian only in name but not in real life? Think it over deeply. Disobeying to God's law in giving tells who we are in the eyes of God.
Jesus didn't ask for the money nor did he say any of it should be tithed. He simply handed the coin back after associating it with Cesar as government-issued property. In doing so he made a distinction between that which is man-made (money) and that which is spiritual. God has no use for our money nor did he ever ask for it.
Malachi says that Israel robbed God of "tithes and offerings". If you are arguing that the tithe is required then offerings should also be required of Christians.

Abraham gave of the spoils of war, he gave nothing from his own riches. He also kept nothing of the spoils of war .
Following my previous post:
- the host said that as a family they prayed with his wife and God led them to set a basic percentage of 10% and more as God leads them. And it's OK
- Finally, the example of the Macedonians, I would like to draw attention to the fact that this was a special giving for a specific situation, and there was certainly also the normal giving of the church apart from that (for the needs of the local church).
Well said it's giving tithes and love offerings.

I love your approach and tackle of this mattewr.
GRACE BE MULTIPLIED
1. tithes is for the jews in the old testament. The jews now do not require its members to tithe, so why are Christians requiring their members to tithe?
2. The NT says that "you must decide in your heart how much you give".
Great teaching
WOW 😲 this is awesome 💞
The bible slso says God loves a cheerful giver, snd I am not hearing to much of that in these comments. also he who sows sparringly will also reap sparingly
Give from your heart ❤️ don't be reluctant because someone else is paying tithes. In other words if you😮 don't want to pay tithes or give a offering "(DON'T)" simple as that. Amen it doesn't take rocket science.
I wont give to a church, i will give to the poor and homeless though.
You should donate, particularly since churches bless the poor.
then the homeless will take the money and buy crack with it
My pastor said you will go to hell for not paying tithes. I don’t agree with that. Tithes was food in bible days.
Greedy pastors. I'll give to the poor, not pastors.
Pastors keep most of the money given. I'll not be lining their pockets.

My pastor breaks out Matt 23:23. It causes me to grief attending that church.
Hey brother I agree with whoever this guy is I have had I pet peeve about this idea for 30 years at least any way it becomes a conflict of interest for a pastor to hound on this ali the time it has to be free will or your just paying and not giving but we have to get to this understanding though much prayer etc
Ministries preach generosity but won’t give when somebody in need asks
@@npzwane9331 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
I struggle with this..when I am broke and really down I feel guilt and suppose the reason for my present situation is because I did not tithe😢
Read Deuteronomy 14:22-29. The 10% is for ourselves except the 3rd year. Every 3rd year is for the storehouse for the poor people. You give it to oneself until you can get to the point you can give it to anyone who is poorer than oneself. May God bless you.
Mathew 23
23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!

This is scripture the tithe preachers abuse a lot. Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees about hypocrisy or tithes how ironic that very few people actually tithe even in the arm twist or Bible twist churches.
@@marolynbriggs1878
Malachi was preaching for revival to corrupt Levites.
@@jamesirvin7799 exactly dear friend. Exactly. One of worst abused Scripture...no balance at all.
What really annoys me when the leader ask to lift your envelope of tithing or offering. That's pressure!!!
No you are in error on your doctrine
All in NT Teacings it's all about Love..Hope in God's provision and promises..Abiding in the Law of Faith is to commit and submitting your body, soul and spirit for God's Glory!
@@michaelmerck7576 The old Testament has been fulfilled by Jesus on the cross ...we are no longer under any law.

Not understood the verse sir,,
Exodus 25 and 35 GOD ask for
Where God says he will rebuke the devouerer , does it not still stand true for today?
That refers to.things that devours crops like pests and drought
What if you don’t have any income and you’re literally living on a prayer? What then? I’ve been a Christian for just a little over a year and it appears that God is literally stripping me of everything. I have so that I can rely solely on Him. I always have the most shinking and uncomfortable feeling when they pass the basket around.
I totally understand you! I was in the same position as you barely 3 months ago and you know what, as painful as it is, I told myself "I am alive and God is not done with me!". I would take that basket and pass it on. The Lord knows your journey. Take heart.
Mark 12:38-44. It’s not about the size of your gift. It’s about the posture of your heart.
You should study the meaning of the word "cult." NOT All DENOMINATIONS ARE CULTS.
I keep saying this and the tithe people keep fighting me.
They keep fighting me to they are brain washed
Does the Bible even prohibited us to do so?
Yes it does warn us to not live under the old covenant(the Old Testament) James 2:10 may God grant you his Spirit to understand
Yes, the bible actually warns that if you try to follow one part of the law you become subject to all the curses that come under the law.
It never addresses a money tithe in any way
Preach the Gospel of Repentance for the Remission of our Sins, Tithing is Not Preaching the Gospel of Christ.
Time and talents .
Why is the church running a facility they cannot maintain?
Tithing is about Faith in God
Not in the new testament God loves a cheerful giver, not a tithe payer who has to give under necessity, tithe does not put you in God's will, the Temple was supported by gifts and offerings until it was destroyed, not by tithes. That should correct the requirements for tithes
@@haroldkrebs5573 amen!!
Tithing is about greed and control
Well actually not.the tithe was simply way for the levites to also partake in the promised land inheritance
No it has nothing to do with faith in God if anything it's the opposite because the tithe had to be implemented to insure the other tribes contributed to the levites as God knows the heart of man cannot follow the law on its own
KEY WORD PRINCIPLES 😂
7:21
Deuteronomy is the testimony of the old agreement btn God and the people of Isrealites even not with the Gentiles.
not much in the catholic church.
Even I started to a church that teaches tithes, I never teach tithing to the congregation because teaching it is an act of rebellion to God because Christians are not Jews.
Please show tithing by apostles after Jesus Christ came back to life from death.
Tithing is not even a law coming from God, it was a pagan practice during the Genesis time. It was a vow of Jacob to give tithe so the whole tribe was compelled to do so because it was a vow made by Jacob a.k.a Israel.
Tithes are for Jews and not for Christians
Jews today do not give tithes because there are no priests today nor Levites, because it was a law of God to give the tithes only to the Levites, who belong to the tribe of Levi, wherein Aaron was appointed priest because both of his parents belong to the tribe of Levi.
If tithing is a law for the Christians, how come Paul the apostle never teach about tithing. He said about giving freely, for he said that God loves a cheerful giver.
If you want to have a building or nice things then pay for it
Tax. The. Church.
This scripture in no way implies Christian people owe a tithe
Malachi says that Israel robbed God of "tithes and offerings". If you are arguing that the tithe is required then offerings should also be required of Christians.
