Actually there is also spirituality behind it. Material things is ok but spiritual things like helping one another , the importance of famiily , friendship and blessings as well challenges are also important. When there is calamities or uphill battles ...in the back of their mind they pray.

Filipinos often approach things with a light-hearted attitude, which can contribute to unresolved societal issues such as poverty, homelessness, injustice, over population, pollution, and disorganized traffic regulations.. However there seems to be a little progress nowadays because our current leaders take these matters seriously.

It actually starts from the grassroots of value formation in the family. Filipino upbringing is NON-MATERIALISTIC meaning we derive happiness when family members are together, when we go out helping our neighbors, when we gather to celebrate whatever ocassions in whatever ways we can be it lavish or just simple hanging out. I think very crucial factors such as SPIRITUALITY, MUSIC, HUMILITY, BAYANIHAN, RESILIENCE, and STRONG FAMILY TIES are also keys to a much HAPPIER PERSPECTIVE of Filipino life.

It’s a common practice in our culture to invite others to eat when they arrive and find us already having a meal. The phrase "Kain tayo" or "Halika, kain na," meaning "Let's eat" or "Come join us eat," has become a customary expression among Filipinos.

One great difference lies in their belief in a Provident God. Belief in the Almighty may be as simple as passing a handkerchief on an image or walking on bended knees to the altar but they love this God. We say that joy, true joy is the manifestation of His Spirit in our heart.
I love you already for having reflected deeply on our people's happiness in life.

Why should be sad? We always Pray to our God Jesus Christ to take everything for us. God Said to Us have Faith in Me and I, Your God will take care everything you need. We think the problem we suffer is part of trials in life that the people have faith, patience perseverance, hard work and dedication can over come the trials with the Help of Our Lord. Be satisfied, content what you had. Don't be greedy, be humble, and always help others what U had. Don't be a toxic person which spread negativity. Always spread love and kindness that brings happiness to everyone. ❤❤❤

Hardship makes you thankful and happy for the little things. An easy life (Western countries) seems to make people petty and bitter over the slightest perceived issue. The West is so spoiled at this point they get livid over when a dude in a dress is called 'Sir', which of course he is. Or that the red light is 2 seconds longer at the intersection when traveling E-W than N-S. Yes, there was an actual lawsuit. Apparently traffic patterns an flow are not as important as this lady getting home from work 2 seconds faster.😵‍💫

On the other hand, this perceived contentment makes us economic laggards because we tend to be 'contented' with what is relatively easier to achieve and not strive for excellence unlike other races like the chinese, kireans, and japanese..

America has long embraced the Horatio Alger mythos: that anyone who works hard enough can succeed in life. While the country was booming (until around the 1970s?) it was largely true. But now that you can work like a dog and still fail, there is a lot of anger. Anger at the politicians, anger at foreigners, anger at the system. When survival and having a close family are your main goals, it is easier to feel like things are going well.

The circumstances of the people in the Philippines fitted so well with the Catholic culture. We live in that area of the world where typhoons, earthquakes, storms happen. We are possessed by many invaders. And we are a nation of varied cultures (Tagalogs, Visayans etc) living in separate islands. We already have the tolerance towards hardships even during ancient times. Now, here comes Christianity, particularly, the Catholic Church that teaches the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The Catholic culture fitted so well with the ancient people's circumstances. The Church did not teach us prosperity gospels or memorization of bible verses (the way American protestants were taught), rather it teaches us clearly the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ and to be part of it. It inculcated in us that pain and suffering are just temporary and are elements towards resurrection. It teaches us that the hardships we experience are our contribution to the salvation of the world. Moreover, most of us are fueled by the flesh and blood of Christ, which made us very resilient to pain and suffering. The flesh and blood of Christ which many of us are receiving not just during Sundays, but daily served as an amulet for us to not be affected by the difficulties in life.

In the west children are told not talk to strangers, do not interact to people and stuff like that and these eventually create loneliness and isolation from social norms. The west will always justify that it is for the safety and protection of the individuals, well yes but the process of implementation is wrong.
