  • In this video I go through the process of making my angel design from a clay slab. I use a template to start the body and skirt, then sculpt the head and add the hair. Iron wash is used on the face and hair, and then the skirts are glazed in various mixed glazes.
The glaze I use on the wings is:
    glazy.org/reci...
    Aventurine Blue-Green:
    glazy.org/reci...
    June Perry Purple:
    glazy.org/reci... (I add 1 gram of cobalt)
    Variegated Slate Blue:
    glazy.org/reci...
Iron Wash: 1tsp red iron oxide, 1tsp of Gerstley Borate, mix with water based on the strength you like. 1/2 cup-1c
(I am working on getting the template up)

Something I do when wanting to stain and wipe-away an underglaze etc., I keep the water that I've used to rinse my brush/sponge in. Residue particles sink. The next time, I remove some of the water, give a shake and dip the work in allowing it to stain. It cuts down on the amount of product you lose.

Sarah! Your angels are so beautiful 😍 I love how you paired the matte of the iron oxide wash with the glossy flow of the crystalline glazes - simple and wonderful 😊 thank you so much for sharing the links also; I can get lost on Glazy for hours 😂
