I love drag race but I'm still surprised by how it beat shows like the voice. Drag race has a very fixed demographic targeting the LGBT+ (and maybe straight women) which itself is a minority. In terms of viewership they rarely cross 1 million viewers per episode. Compare this to the voice which has outstanding ratings. So the academy that decides who wins probably doesn't factor marketability and revenue. But drag race winning is great for lgbt+ visibility and it really sends a message to America.
It probably has more to do with creativity and entertainment value than ratings. I mean, The Voice isn't even on cable tv. It can easily pick up those kinds of viewers. And Im also glad Christina Aguilera left The Voice. It wasn't about the talent anymore. It became about the coaches. She was literally the only actual vocalist to ever coach that show and give great feedback.

The only reality competition show I watch. I've seen every episode for all 12 seasons. The show really shows how Ru really instills in the contestants they are worthy. Fabulous show.

Well, to be fair Ru used to attend everything in full drag back before Drag Race. In truth, it is uncomfortable, and he's lucky he isn't a trans person who has no other choice but to do partial drag every day until fully transitioned.

I love drag race but I'm still surprised by how it beat shows like the voice. Drag race has a very fixed demographic targeting the LGBT+ (and maybe straight women) which itself is a minority. In terms of viewership they rarely cross 1 million viewers per episode. Compare this to the voice which has outstanding ratings. So the academy that decides who wins probably doesn't factor marketability and revenue. But drag race winning is great for lgbt+ visibility and it really sends a message to America.

It probably has more to do with creativity and entertainment value than ratings. I mean, The Voice isn't even on cable tv. It can easily pick up those kinds of viewers. And Im also glad Christina Aguilera left The Voice. It wasn't about the talent anymore. It became about the coaches. She was literally the only actual vocalist to ever coach that show and give great feedback.
