Technically her name would mean “in heavenly peace” (since “Celeste” means celestial or pertaining to the heavens), but you’re right that it’s clearly intended to evoke the idea of “rest in peace” for the audience

I hear SungWon about the names. The Khura'in names in AA6 are charming for like the first couple minutes and then every single new character for several cases straight are just the exact same joke.

personally i was a fan of the one that made fun of how long it was but thats it lol
IIRC every character from AA 1 and 2 (with the exception of the Big Top cast, arguably) are generally less gimmicky than those from 3 onward. Generally normal but just a little over the top. I think it's why the characters in Rise from the Ashes have such a different feel from everyone else in AA1 DS since they're written lime AA4 characters instead of like AA1 characters

Ace Attorney Fun Fact!
Matt Engarde's name in Japanese is Shingo Ōtorō (王都楼真悟)
"ōtoro" (大とろ), is a Japanese word for the fattiest portion of a bluefin tuna belly. This fish theme fits in with the Japanese name of Will Powers.
I'm sure you mentioned his Japanese name when Will Powers first came up, but figured I would repost it for the curious (I can't be the only one who went to google to check after this fun fact!): it's "Saburō Niboshi" (荷星三郎). "Niboshi" is a fish pun with the Japanese name for a kind of little dried sardine. The idea behind the name is that even a small fry can become a big star.
I love how in-depth they go with the Nickel Samurai and the Jammin' Ninja. That "show within a show" type of worldbuilding is the best.
And yeah, agreed on the name puns in the later games. Around halfway through the fifth game they stop being names first and puns second. But it is pretty funny to compare to names in the Great Ace Attorney games, where half of them are Holmes references that may or may not even be relevant.
Celeste Inpax = rest in peace, with pax being Latin for peace (these puns used to be smart and subtle). I never picked up on that as a kid but they asked the exact same thing when Game Grumps did this case a couple months ago and I managed to rub my braincells together and figure it out.
I think Celeste can also refer to "the stars," which is relevant to her being a manager to celebrities and/or that she has died and is now in the heavens.

God, I know she can rub people the wrong way (ive been dipping into the game grumps playthrough as this one progresses) but I cant bring myself to hate Von Karma. I love her actually. She's just too good
I think the thing that makes her stand out is that for all the pride and whippings, its clear even by this point she's not being antagonistic for antagonistic sakes. Like her behavior is not surface level, theres actual depth and reason behind it.
...kinda why i'm more lenient on her behavior than a certain OTHER very antagonistic prosecutor thats weirdly obsessed with one specific adjective, and not in a double standards 'you're just lenient cause she's a woman' way
I definitely did not like her initially (because of all the whipping) when I first played this game, but I came to respect her by the end of it. I started to like her more when playing Ace Attorney Investigations, and now I’m very fond of her!

Fun fact regarding the whole "they never refer to alcohol in these games" thing: most of those are the same in Japanese, Shu Takumi finds the running gag of "grape juice" rather than wine to be very funny

The oblique references to alcohol are *from* the Japanese version.
Just like how sexuality is less taboo in Japan, alcohol and drugs are more taboo in Japan, especially in media for kids (like Ace Attorney). Think of how many time you've seen underage drinking on TV in America compared to how many times you've seen underage drinking in anime. (Or, conversely, how often you've seen awkward avoidance of underage drinking in anime or Japanese games versus how often you see that sort of odd dodge in American media.)
the puns in the later games don't really bother me at all and don't ruin those ganhes for me but I can definitely get where Sungone is coming from
