For once UA-cam suggestions bear fruit. I have been watching Alex's current restoration of his DeLorean on Legit Street Cars so it was a surprise to see this pop up to view. Most barn finds are a joy to watch, and this is no exception. Looking forward to further work on it. 👍

If you’re in the market for another great automotive based channel, I HIGHLY recommend Vice Grip Garage. Derek Bieri is an absolute joy to watch as he finds old abandoned cars that have been sitting for years (last video is of a Studebaker that hadn’t been touched in 47 years). Most of the vehicles he finds he will get them running and drive them back to his house that is as far as 1500 miles away.
I also subscribe to Alex and have been following his restoration of his early model DeLorean. It’s too bad about his frame. I could tell it took a lot of wind out of sail finding all that rot, but thankfully he’s still got a lot more wind in him to soldier on.

Hi,I just seen your channel an was so glad, my old friend George fairman worked in the deloreans factory Dunmurry northern clerk of works early 80s when it was shut down he managed to get John deloreans office chair, when just died he left it to me, it's black tweed made in Belfast,
It needs a bit of restoration, I'd like to let someone appreciate it as it's to heavy an I've no room for it now,
    Kind regards Richard.

This car was built in w Belfast, Ireland a month before I was born and the factory was on dunmurry lane, 2 miles from my house. The factory was bought by a French company, montupet and it makes cylinder heads which is great to know the factory is still in operation. Cool car. Great job picking up the delorean, Kevin and Mike. 👍👍🇮🇪🇺🇸

Amazing find man!! The year was 1995,I was approximately 5mi. From my house,on a road I didn't usually drive. I looked to my right and saw a DeLorean in a driveway. I stopped and knocked on door. I asked if would sell..an they said not right now,but in a couple yrs they planned to. After I talked to them about the car for a few moments, they told me they bought new in 82. It only had a little over 11k miles on it. They said only drove it on really nice weekends, but only on occasions now,and is always been garage,"heated" kept, but just finished detailing. It was very minty! LSS, I left my number, but never heard from them, also forgot about..until 6yrs later. I was 3 miles from where car was owned, and seen a DeLorean at a gas station I pulled into. The owner came out and I began to talk to them about it. I mentioned that I tried to buy one a few miles away,a few years back but was unsuccessful and actually forgot to go back and check on it.They asked me where at and I described..they instantly told me that they just bought it from there an hour ago! They also told me that they were just driving down road and stopped to inquire about it,and within the hour, they bought it for $3,500!!! If only, if only,I hadn't forgot about it!

Happens a lot, John. I've gone to many cars shows and seen low mileage cars that had to be cleaned up and partially restored. Sometimes rich people buy cars new and they sit in a garage until the guy dies. Or the car was in a fender bender or a motor problem and stored until it can be fixed, and it never is. Until guys like Mike and Kevin find it. I saw a case where a low mileage 1960 Dodge was in a fender bender in 1967 and sat in a garage for decades until it was discovered.

So the 'original owner' was actually the second owner after the dealer ? Bought a used Delorean that turned out to be a lemon, parked it in the barn and said to heck with it ? Or trailered it everywhere to car shows ? The most interesting thing about barn finds sometimes is the background story about why a nice car was allowed to rot in the dark.

Dealers always own the cars first. They aren't counted as an owner. Not required to register the car. Dick is the first registered owner.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Please give us an update on this beautiful, exciting find! Also, would love to see Uncle Dick riding along in the passenger after you fully restore it.

Cool find. I was lucky enough to have worked on a brand new DeLorean the day it was delivered by a Cadillac dealer. It came with a box of trim parts like what is sitting in the passenger foot well. I remember a roll of weather-stripping, double sided carpet tape and carpet edging were in there too.

That's interesting information. This car was an early build. Would not surprise me if dealers completed some details on the early built ones.

@@michaelmcelhattan7238 I car I worked on did not have that square cutout on the hood like yours. I saw a few other new ones at the time and all of them had loose trim and fitment issues.

That plastic around the grille and headlights is DEAD straight! So nice to see, you never see them look that good.

The urethane typically warps from sun exposure and heat from the headlights. This tells us this thing hasn’t been out much.

Great find. I'm amazed that owners generally didn't keep them wrapped & sealed to avoid as much damage as possible... Just to protect their capital if nothing else.

My dad is Carl Green, aka Casual Carl. He was a custom car designer and he worked with many other famous custom car designer's, such as Gene Winfield, Darryl Starbird, Jerry Starline, Mike Draper who was Evel's Semi driver, the late Bob Cushionberry, a guy named Barry and can't remember his last name, but hes passed away. He started out in the early 70s. His company was known as Carl Green Enterprise. He designed the SUX 6000 x6 for the original Robo Cop movie. He also customized many of Evel Knievels cars, including the Cadillac pick-up, The Golden Stutz Convertible, the Evel Eagle, and so many more. One of his personal creations was the CGE Pacer Pickup. He was well known for his artistic abilities in car custom cars. He did a project for Gene Simons 500 Car kits. Can't remember what they were. He did a project for the Back to the Future movie company, which included 3 customized DeLorean's. He brought back the suicide doors on the dodge. Ram called 'The Rambo'. Mom still has it in her garage. He customized an old bus, i believe, and called it 'Big Bertha'. He did another called Lil Dooley.
His last projects was working with the Evel Knievel crew on restoring his semi, which is now in the Topeka Evel Knievel museum, along with my dads work, including the Evel Eagel and the Cadillac Pick-up. He died from a freak accident in 2015. But his legacy lives on.
I am so curious as to where those DeLoreans are. God bless you guys, and congratulations on your find!
You can find my dads work on the internet, and i believe there are still yourube videos of interviews and such.
