Your sandstone Necrons got me into 40k. I ended up painting my start collecting box as Necrons rising out of the ocean, covered in corals, sea weeds and mud.
I think there will be new ones coming, judging by the old models absence from recent marketing. The new destroyers are pretty great imo, so I have hope.
If you don't fear some cutting and kitbashing: I made my own new flayed one with a necron warrior and the arms from the cryptothralls and then followed this here tutorial to add the rest. If you are careful with your knife you can cut out the arms along the ball and with plastic glue it's a perfect fit (or you can roughly cut them out and sand down to the balls)
Back in the oldcron days, I had plans to start an army in colors not dissimilar to Hive Fleet Kraken; bone-colored Necrons with dark red. Only ever got to paint up a squad of 5 Warriors, which I no longer have. My new plan's completely different; inspired by the Maykrs from DOOM Eternal, I'm gonna translate them into 40K as a Necron dynasty in white, gold, and red.
Same story here, dude. Magic just wasn't doing it for me, lately. Also, it's pretty cool as well seeing fellow youtubers (and fellow hobbyists) supporting each other!
Thanks to you Guy I'll be buying the new necrons and starting my new army the battle reports were awesome and their lore twice as so. Keep doing what you love man.
you get a thumbs up just for the super glue and PVA trick. I used it to make some alien infestation bases recently. PVA super glue trick + some putty tentacles made with a comb looked awesome.
for years I've been looking for a way to paint my Necrons without looking like the typical official schematics. I love what you've made, so dark mechanics looking> you gain a new supporter!
Awesome job Guy. I'm usually much more of a fan of the high-tech Necron look, I used to collect them back when the neon rod warriors had just been released and I leaned heavily into that, but this decayed, gore splattered look gives the models a completely different personality that works so well, and tells a story without words. And it's easy to do. Seriously. Be proud :)
They look crazy good. Right now I watching your Blackstone tutorials, really helpful and fun. For the first time, my models start looking good. Big THX!
man these models are a true love letter to the Necrons of old. I won't lie your painting guide completely sold me on the potential of these models and Im am eager to get my brushes out
Slowly building admech right now and I see one of my favorite magic UA-camrs is part of your patreon! Loving the intertwined of the communities! Also some more of my favorite magic UA-camrs have gone into 40k as well. Best thing of 2020 so far in my opinion
Super cool, looks fantastic. Your other Necron video was what got me hooked on the channel. Keep up the awesome work, super happy to be a patron of you guys!
I still remember watching your first video, wait a whole year for that second upload. It’s been two years and you’ve grown so fast. Very happy for you ;)
I discovered your channel a few days ago, and have been binge watching your content ever since. You truly are a pleasure to watch, and your love and enthusiasm for what you do is quite inspiring. And you absolutely outdid yourself creatively with the Necrons in this video. Awesome work! Thank you for all the beautiful content you make! I'll definitely be here to watch it :)
I've legit always hated the way the ''default'' necron palette looked. These, and your Sandstone Necrons and legitimately the coolest Necrons I think I've ever seen.
Absolutely love the paint scheme guy. I made my own dynasty of necrons covered in plants, mud and moss. And used some of your tips in the sandstone necrons guide! I'm really happy with how mine are coming out! Thanks for the inspiration. I could send you pictures when they are finished.
@@batman9592 well, I'm not sure since I watch the Simpson in Spanish and I can't find a clip of that episode in english. But Chevys do break down. Kek.
A friend of mine actually did something like this years ago! He took clay, ripped it into small, flat sheets and draped it over his necrons. He even cut some in half, and glued chunks of cork around them, so it looked like they were coming out of the ground! Shout out to Bobby!

Hello, i loved your sandstone tutorial! But this is over the top! If i would not have so many armies i would instant start a necron project like this. Holy Moly! You got me here! Thanks allot! Keep on going! Greetings
These look amazing! I love the super glue/ pva mix for gore. My favorite thing about your videos, is how you mention how to combine various colors, (terra-cotta in this video as an example). I do not have any kind of art background, and learning how to mix your own colors has really helped me improve my painting. I'm sure there are some people that have a more natural eye for color, but for those of us who don't, having it specifically laid out, really helps!
These look absolutely brilliant! The flesh tones and horrific figures remind me of del Toro's Pale Man. I will definitely be taking the time to enter for a chance to win these gorgeous little grubbkins
Wow! Just Wow! I always thougt the necrons a bit boring, but now I want to build my own space zombie/sceletton army as soon as my boxes arrive. Thank you so much :)

I have been debating on what dynasties I wanted to do for my necrons and I wanted to do flayed one army but I was scared that it wouldn’t look good and that it would just ruin the army. But after seeing how amazing and good yours turned out I think I can do it. Thanks to you I now have the courage to try it. I love your channel and I love your work. After a break from the "current" game I just picked up and Indomitus box and have been really struggling with how to make the Necrons feel scary - this is perfect! Thanks as always Guy!
As I start playing with your old recipes (came up with some cool variants I'll be posting soon) you go and blow the doors off it yet once again. Guy I have nothing further to add, well other than thank you so much, you made my soul smile (seeing my son come in and tell me his are good dad, no like way good dad, I'm sorry.)
This is awesome job. Especially dumping minis in superglue shook me up;]. Although while monotony is main piece of scheme here, I feel like some brighter color here and there would nicely break off to strike the eye. But those dirty Necron looks great; much character they have. Steely here, browny there, reddy there. Cool man, cool.

I am making my own kind of terminator scheme for my new necrons. Going abandon black for the base coat mixed with air brush version (air brush paint mixed in the same base paint will help water down the paint without losing pigment) Then using Leadbelcher and a sponge, dry brush on the metal starting from above and working your way down to get a natural highlight. From there, go and use either a Balthazar gold dry brush method to add any rusty parts or go on and use nuln oil shade to give them a good dark wash over. Once that is finished, go ahead and use either white scar or any white paint you have and begin to paint any orbs or eventual "necron green" highlights. Go over those parts in tesseract glow or a nice green wash. Go back over them in a watered down yellow for a highlight with a dry brush method to add glow effects.
From there, edge highlight or add battle damage to your preferred liking.
Only if you want to go terminator, go red for the eyes using the same glow effects and use red and orange for the glow.
