    Glad you did this video. I always yell at the screen when someone opens a video with "I got good bait this morning" without any context or explanation. I am about a year into my serious catfishing career and I have learned a ton from UA-cam, but there is not a lot of great content on getting bait which is the foundation of all catfishing. Awesome video, keep up the good work.

    Thanks for videos like this. I'll never be a professional fisherman, but i do enjoy getting to take my young boys fishing when i have time. Videos like this help me understand the river a little better and help my chances of showing my boys a good time on the water. Thanks for content like this. Keep it up brother.

    Thank you very much!! I haven't learned the bait catching part yet and REALLY needed these pointers in locating bait. I just started trying for Monster Catfish this year and a few different channels on UA-cam have really helped me learn about it. I already have brung my R&R PB from 10 lbs. from years ago, up to 25 lbs. this month alone just from what I'm learning from you guys. Keep up the content, your helping beginners like me a bunch.

    Good morning Micka, we don’t have skipjack or shad that I know of here. We have an abundance of bluegill though. The question that’s been running through my mind lately is, if you could only have one piece of electronics for a fish finder. What would you suggest? Keeping in mind my little boat is only a 14 foot johnboat. I’m trying to keep it as simple as possible (besides the fact that I’m dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to electronics). I believe that I’ve settled on a lithium battery for the trolling motor and the one fish finder. I appreciate the information about catching bait, I haven’t thrown a cast net in probably 18 years and that was for pogy off the shore of northeast Florida. I’m not even sure if I can keep netted bluegill here in Tennessee 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖

    • @mickaburkhart14
      @mickaburkhart14  17 днів тому +2

      @@KunesRGr8 well as far as electronics I'd get something like showed on my front deck. It's simple and once you figure it out it provides all the info you really need. Also no unfortunately you can't keep bluegills if you catch them in a net.

      @ I really appreciate this information, Micka. I hear you differentiate sonar from other fish finders, like I mentioned, I know nothing about fish finders. I do know lowrance as a brand name, but honestly I wouldn’t know what the heck I was looking at 😂. I do have several little ponds locally that hold a lot of bluegill, I think they are a lot of fun on a good ultra light setup. Thank you 🙏 so much for all of your suggestions, I’m making ‘25 the year that I get this boat christened with some slime. 👍💪🙌🙏🌈✌️🐽🐷🐖

    Well Done Micka! Great video, great info. Every catfish angler has bait anxiety. Just so happens I am going today to scout different water for bait. Getting bait: 10% technique, 20% electronics, 70% location, which takes a ton of time on the water. Greetings. I live in Crossville and fish mostly Watts Bar, but spent some time up there as a kid. Cordell and that section of the river just does not have the depth or current for blue cats, is really cold year round (especially down river of Dale Hollow dam) as you know from all of the summer fogs in Celina, and is channel cat country for sure with a few smaller flatheads, but also a rare blue. You get below Cordell Hull Dam and you start to see some blue cats, get down river of Nashville and they get much more numerous and bigger. Below Cordell Hull dam and up the Caney is one of my favorite spots for skipjack, especially during the heat of the summer. From April to September, you can actually cast net them from the walkway in ripping dam release current.
