  • This Bald Eagle nest is located on a cliff near Two Harbors Village on Catalina Island.
Male adult: Chase, Female adult: Cholyn, have been using this nest for over 20 years, since 2003.
Their first egg this year 2024 was laid on February 22nd. Both Chase and Cholyn take turns to incubate the egg.
In this video, Chase, while still incubating the egg, is welcoming Cholyn who comes to take over the next shift of incubation with his Bald Eagle calls.
It is extremely windy. They have to be extra careful while in the nest or when flying. Cholyn’s vertical “landing” on the nest and Chase’s vertical “take off” resemble those of a helicopter.
