Hi I loved your video about harvesting seeds, I ve already harvested about 50-60 of my lophos seeds, do I have to wait to germinate them??? If I have to wait, how long will take them to be ready?? I have already subscribed I love how you talk about cacti and all the tutorials are awesome
Hi there :-D thats brilliant news you have harvested lots of Loph seeds, its going to be so much fun to sow and grow them :-D the good news is you can sow them now and especially at this time of year Summer, but you can sow them in Winter too if you can give them extra light and warmth :-D but the earlier you sow them after harvesting the better the germination will be :-D so yes you can get sowing and growing now :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from right across the Emerald Isle and have a fantastic Friday XXXX

@@blentobex5802 mine were flowering every few weeks this summer. Had 3 flowers at one point. They grow so fast. Have taken seeds but not been successful with the recent flowers but not sure if I'm doing it right as some have been tiny yellow things. The 2 pods I got seeds off were the first pods I ever removed last month had 17 in. My Loph is 5yrs old. Not sure how old it was before we got it.
I have been really enjoying your videos! They have all been really informative.. would u please direct me to a vendor where I could find seeds? I live in the US and laws are wierd here
Hi Paul :-D so happy you enjoy my videos and thank you so much for watching them, it can be tough to find seeds of Lophophora for sale and although I know of a few online seed nurseries here, I am not sure if they mail out to the US but you could try Uhligkakteen.com and Kakteenhaage.com and Succseed.com and www.Rareplant.me Good luck with finding seeds and have a wonderful Wednesday today XXXXX
I got some orange rot on some of my lophos. Plus when I look closely I see little holes in the skin that look like pin pricks. I believe those are spider mites. Anyway I took them out and gave them a good shower. I also ordered some neem oil. I was wondering if that will take care of the orange rot as well as the mites? One of the cactuses infected are almost 20 years old. I definitely can't loose that one.
So sorry to hear about your Lophs, Lophophora can be very prone to Spider mites and they often come down with orange spots that can be more of an aesthetic problem than being harmful, and sometimes they can form an orange rust like discoloration as they age from the base, especially with older plants but if the orange rot is at the base of your plant and it feels soft you may need to do an emergency cut to save the top part and treat it as a cutting, here is a link to a video I made on how to save a cactus from rot,ua-cam.com/video/UM6imgsh4Gg/v-deo.html but its difficult to say without pics, hope it gets sorted for you and your plants will be ok :-) sending lots of love and happy groowing from Ireland and have a fantastic Friday XXXX

Hello Lyn, I know you are busy, but if you have a few minutes...please can you tell me whether my new cactus is also a Lophophora? The video is called Succulents' + Seeds' Update ~ February 2018 and the actual picture is @ 14:36. Of course I understand if you don't have the time. Your babies are adorable! :) Faith xo
Hi Faith :-D I LOVD your fbruary update :-D the cactus at 14:36 is a Gymnocalycium its a beauty of a cactus and does look very similar to Lophophora williamsii in its appearance except Lophophora have woolly tufts instead of spines, but is similar in appearance with its plant body to Gymnocalycium, and I think your cactus could be a Gymnocalycium baldianum :-D it has beautiful deep red flowers in the summer :-D sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Ireland for a fantastic evening XXXX
THANK YOU dear Lyn. (I've been away, (animating), hence the late reply). I really appreciate you answering my query. I laughed at the name! 'baldianum' (bald), how cute. I love your woolly tufted one (I wrongly thought they were her flowers). Except she is more of a woolly sheep I think. Love to you and Hans, Faith :) xox

Hi Jordan :-D I wait until the fruit pod is bright pink and fleshy and is easy to remove from the plant before harvesting, you can harvest the seeds directly after removing the fruit pod, the oldest Williamsii is about 20 years old :-D they are slow growing but should flower and set seed within 5 years of growing from seed :-D thanks so much for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from right across the Emerald Isle for a wonderful weekend XXXX
hi I plant some seed mix into zip bag I'm in day 8 so far look good but 1 thing that I didn't put soil into microwave. u think they will be ok ? I hope .
Thanks so much Joe or your wonderful comment :-) yes sterilizing the soil is optional and you don't have to do this and many growers have great success without microwaving the soil, but microwaving the soil helps to prevent fungal attack, but your seedlings may be absolutely fine :-) thanks a million for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness from right across the Emerald Isle for a FANTASTIC Sunday today XXXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon WOW. so was correct. They take 20yrs to be that size. In the states I can go to prison for growing Peyote. Now why is it not a controlled plant in your part of the world. Ireland? Well thanks for always answering my questions. I'm with my plant daily also. I understand the bond and relationships between them. ✌. They truly have it figured out. Meaning survival.
Desert Plants of Avalon actually I'm already planing to sow them this week I will keep you informed

So cool. Thanks for uploading. I recently got some lophophora seeds for my birthday, but I think I accidentally killed them by placing them into direct sunlight. Live and learn I suppose.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comment :-) so sorry to hear about your Lophophora seeds but because they can take a good few weeks to germinate they is still a good chance that they will germinate for you :-) thanks so much for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happy growing from Ireland for a fantastic Tuesday XXXXX

I'm gonna get myself one aswell, does the cactus blossom every year, like can I plant more? :3
This was interesting and new to me. :D Thank you for making the video!
Thanks a million for your fantastic comments :-) I love harvesting the seeds from the cactus fruits :-) thanks so much for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness from right across the Emerald Isle for a MAGICAL Monday and week XXXX

I think I have just missed pollinating my Tiger's jaw. I am not sure if it will produce any seeds or not.
Little Home Gardener I have my Tigers Jaw coming into bud and was wondering about how to pollinate them, fingers crossed yours will flower again very soon, I will try to find out if these plants are self pollinating :-) sending tons of love from Ireland for a wonderful day ahead XXXX
Anyway I was wondering if you had any videos on getting rid of fungal infections or mites.
watering more and with a bit of milk in the water helped mine
:) Cactus Power! :) I caught the bug of sowing seeds from you! And, I thank you so much! It is so much fun. :)
Thanks so much Susana for your wonderful comment :-) so happy to hear that you have caught the cactus sowing bug haha! it is so much fun :-) thanks a million for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness from Ireland for a wonderful week ahead XXXX
New subscriber here I just want to request a video on how to took or collect the seed pod on lithops.
BTW your videos help me a lot to gain knowledge.
Thanks a million for subbing :-D So happy to hear that my vids are helping you gain knowledge :-D unfortunately I have never managed to get any seeds from any of my lithops and wouldn't be the best one to advise you on collecting the seed, so sorry but hopefully in the future I will have success with pollinating the flowers, I will keep trying haha :-D thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching :-D sending tons of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Ireland and have a FANTASTIC Thursday today XXXXX

how old was your oldest 'williamsii' before harvesting the seeds? ie. how long do you let them dry before harvest??
_thanks,
mJordan
Hi Jordan :-D I wait until the fruit pod is bright pink and fleshy and is easy to remove from the plant before harvesting, you can harvest the seeds directly after removing the fruit pod, the oldest Williamsii is about 20 years old :-D they are slow growing but should flower and set seed within 5 years of growing from seed :-D thanks so much for watching and sending you an abundance of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from right across the Emerald Isle for a wonderful weekend XXXX
Desert Plants of Avalon hi Jordan ! was wanting to know do you sell the seeds?
hi I plant some seed mix into zip bag I'm in day 8 so far look good but 1 thing that I didn't put soil into microwave. u think they will be ok ?
If you dry the seed pods for a day or two the seeds will not stick to your finger. Or does their viability go down if you dry them?
Hi there :-D the good news is that the seeds don't lose their viability if you dry the seed pods first, and it is easier to remove the seeds that way too, Good luck with growing from seeds and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful day XXXX
Interesting ! I've never tried that

How old are those guys..?
Hi Ryan :-D the largest Lophophora are around 25 years or more, but the smaller ones are 15 years old from seed :-D XXXXX
All plants. My cannabis plants along with my cacti. I know they are aware of my presence. One way or another. Jellyfish don't have brains. But are aware of there surroundings. Idk . Something for you to ponder about. Ryan. From So CaL.
@@ryanurquhart340 LOL! yes so true with the Jellyfish :-D its such a shame with Peyote as they are amazing plants and its crazy that its illegal to grow them in many parts of the states, thank goodness that its legal here in Ireland and UK, Sending lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER your way for a fantastic day XXXXX
