Thank you for the tips on winter watering requirements and repotting. I had heard you can actually leave the plants out of the pots to dry out the roots and repot them quite successfully. Apparently it allows the roots to heal and not be affected dampness. I can see that if you repot into completely dry soil the effect is the same. Thanks!
I keep the heater in in winter and keep them warm and they keep growing rather than sleeping... I lost one pup to root rot when the summer began to end and decided to keep them warm and it worked because the other pups had spots that vanished when they got heat

It is a shame you can't Lophophora williamsii in the USA. They are such cute little toads. Law makers aren't the brightest tacks in the pack. You can however grow other Lophophora species that look the same but are legal in the USA. You will likely have to grow them from seeds though as they are not common nursery plants. You can also grow many other hallucinogenic cactus in the USA, if that's your thing, that aren't illegal.

haha its a very good question, I use a tiny bit of horticultural soap in between my fingers to rub the tufts to clean them, I then wait a few minutes with the soap on and then I spray the whole of the Loph with water, the horticultural soap is harmless to the roots and cactus and it really helps to clean the tufts up, argh yes snails and slugs are a pain for my plants too, thank goodness they didn't take any bites out of your Lophs, thanks so much Odette for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a brilliant weekend XXXX
